Description
A stylish, well-furnished, wheel chair accessible (down stairs) detached cottage in a beautiful and peaceful rural woodland location 3.7 miles from the town of Eccleshall in Staffordshire on the border with Shropshire.
The well-appointed cottage and extensive garden makes this the perfect stay for a relaxing family break. The cottage has a bright and airy yet cosy open plan living space, boasting stylish features, and a well-equipped kitchen/dining area and living room with large windows overlooking the stunning garden. There is a wet room, with grab rails and a shower seat and grab rails next to the toilet. The doors to the downstairs bedroom and wet room are widened to facilitate wheel chair access, there is generous access room along one side of the bed. A ramp facilitates access over the very small threshold of the double patio doors. There is a double sofa bed in the living room area for up to two additional people. The bedrooms are spacious, and refreshing with plenty of storage. The upstairs bedroom has a stylish en-suite shower room. Velux windows with black out blinds allow a panoramic view of the garden, pond, brook and woodland as well as the night sky. The garden and Woodland location of Woodland Cottage is perhaps its biggest asset, an extensive lawn with a large pond, brook, hammock and plenty of seating able guests to make the most of the garden day or night. There is a 1 metre wide wheel chair accessible path along the woodland edge to the seating area. What guests are saying
Overall a pleasant stay, however, it was not at all good to find a half used tin of soup (party dried) and a half bottle of milk (with no label/date on) plus a portion of cooked noodles in the fridge.
The upstairs bathroom fan did not function. Inappropriate sized loo seat (upstairs) could prove awkward to use.
A few cobwebs but that is understandable in view of location.
As previously mentioned in another review the TV needs to be larger. Whilst you don't go on holiday to watch TV it is sometimes required. Loved the wildlife in the garden.
A well designed property in a beautiful location affording privacy, quiet and relaxation.
The only criticisms were that some of the fixtures and fittings appeared tired and due for replacement. The towels were old and rough, the cutlery was mismatched and random as we're the glasses and crockery .As for the large sofa it was impossible to use as it was incredibly uncomfortable with th framework being felt through the upholstery. Overall though an enjoyable stay
