Treehouse Barn at Pitchford Estate

This was a delightful quiet place had the best night sleep whilst here.

This would be my ideal forever home. Plenty of walks and a short drive to shops and places to eat and drink.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Treehouse Barn.

It was a perfect place to stay when we were visiting the David Austin Rose Gardens and Ironbridge. The fencing in the garden could do with improvement as our dogs could easily have strayed. Lucky for us that they don't want to! We would definitely go again.

Lots of dvds but no scart to hdmi connector.

Out of date notes on how tv operates (appears to be a new tv set). No mobile signal at the cottage so had to drive a mile to get a signal in order to obtain key safe number! Minor issues above...cottage was otherwise great!

Lovely accommodation with excellent layout andvery well equipped kitchen.

Spacious throughout with good tiled flooring- useful with dogs. Really good size grassed area to the front of the barn - great for dogs to run around. Although it is noted by owners that it is enclosed but may not totally prevent dogs getting out, it may be worth adding more detail regarding the type of fencing - we had large dogs with us but medium/ small would easily slip through if inclined. The small patio area faced the sun all day and it was VERY hot the week we stayed! Lucky obviously, but needed to call and ask if a parasol could be provided - it was which was great. A suggestion going forward- given the size of the grassed area perhaps there could be a shed to keep alternative deckchairs/outdoor seats as the wrought iron set were uncomfortable if sitting for any length of time. Regardless of this, the barn is beautiful accommodation and also a short walk to a lovely woodland walk around the lake passing by Pitchford Hall and the church. Also near to places for days out, so would definitely recommend staying there!

The barn its self was very good no issues at all but… We were unable to go and see pitchford hall and the other old buildings as there was a closed cattle gate that could not be moved.

You could gain access by walking over a mile through the woods but my elderly mother and my disabled husband cannot walk that far . We rang the guest help number and was told they would find out why the gate was shut and call back, they didn’t . This had spoilt the holiday for us and we don’t know if we will return .

I will start with the negative as there are SO many positives with this property.

The only negative was sleep... or the lack of it. As a family we found the mattresses and pillows extremely uncomfortable. I was awake at 4am on the final day due to the springs in the mattresses. Having said the above, the rest of the property and its location is perfect. It could have been slightly cleaner, but this wasn't an issue for us. The location was exactly what we needed... private and quiet! We were privileged to meet a deer, rabbits, peacocks, ducks and buzzards. The kitchen was well equipped, but I would suggest that salt, pepper and some washing machine powder should be available. Overall, a gorgeous property. If the mattresses and pillows were replaced, we would definitely return.

This was our second visit to Tree House Barn, we love the seclusion of the property but within easy reach of places to visit when we choose.

Second visit - Lovely cottage in a beautiful spot, great for walking the dogs.

Great water pressure providing an amazing shower/bath. Beds comfy with great views out to fields. Lots of local amenities on the doorstep. Could be better equipped with glasses/cups etc. dishwasher very temperamental- washed by hand in the end. Definitely needs an outdoor tap for washing mucky paws!

It’s our second visit to this wonderful cottage and once again we have had a great holiday, we did have a couple of small issues, a peculiar smell in the double bedroom and the large bin was almost full when we arrived but neither of these small issues ruined our stay and we will definitely return again

I have been searching for the perfect dog friendly cottage for years and I’ve finally found it.

Perfect sized garden with the whole estate to roam around without seeing another person, this place is so peaceful. So many places to explore from caves to waterfalls, it’s a great location to explore the great outdoors. The cottage is spacious and well equipped and was really clean. The garden was a lovely place to sit and watch the birds of prey and if the hedge directly in front of the cottage was trimmed down to about 5ft high the views would be even better. We are already planning our next visit, I hope they will have us again as I forgot to turn the dishwasher on……SORRY

Very nice property perfect for my 4 dogs and lots of grounds to walks on .

A great Barn for a week away.

So secluded, which is exactly what we wanted. The barn itself if beautiful, more like a villa inside. The only thing that would of made it better is a comfier sofa, or maybe a second sofa instead of smaller armchairs. Kitchen is very well equipped and we managed to cook as usual. Wifi good for the teenagers. The garden is a good size for dogs, but only semi secure. It was fine for our dog, but if your pooch (any size) really wants to get out or has no recall, they could easily get through the estate fencing. The surrounding land is beautiful and lots of wildlife to see. I worried about the road/track but it was fine as we went very slow, could be different in the winter or lots of rain though. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the barn or stay again.

We stayed at the barn for a weekend with elderly parents.

As others have said, the driveway is very long however we only encountered one pothole but you do need to drive very slowly. The barn is beautifully located particularly if you want to escape from the outside world. The barn itself is very well equipped and extremely clean in the important areas. Few cobwebs behind wall lights etc. but didn’t worry us too much. A bout of feedback for the owners on things they could address to make it perfect: One of the single beds had a spring that sticks in you making sleeping a challenge. We couldn’t find a slip Mat for the shower - this is a basic need particularly for older guests who can slip easily, maybe we just couldn’t find one? No basic toiletries provided such as body wash/soap which would’ve been nice to have. Finally there’s a notice board in the barn asking guests to clean up after their pets….. this hadn’t been done and we encountered several old dried up dog waste all over the lawn. We did however clean up after our dog but this needs addressing as we had to watch where we walked. Otherwise a lovely stay, maybe a few more softer modern furnishings would enhance the barn to another level but appreciate others may prefer the very rustic appearance.

My mum chose this property as she has difficulty in mobilising and uses a mobility aid with wheels.

It was brilliant for her to mobilise in the barn and she chose the twin bedroom as hers. From a mobility perspective we have a few constructive suggestions that would have made her holiday that little bit easier. A ramp going into the property and perhaps one of the middle two doors leading into the garden would have been beneficial. A grab rail in the toilet in the twin bathroom, it was spacious enough that she could take her mobility aid in but had difficulty getting off the toilet also she would have loved a shower and suggested a fold away seat. We were there for one if the hottest weeks of the year and would suggest if you are going to as we did have a chill break and relax there that some form of shade such as a parasol, however we moved 2 chairs to buy the front door and would alternate depending on the sun and shade. With doors and windows closed to the sun and open to the shade we maintained a lovely cool temperature and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would highly recommend exploring the estate, I bumped into a very helpful person called Nick, who shared where the orangery , walled garden and the ice house was. A rough map of the estate would have been helpful in the welcome information pack as I was fortunate to bump into Nick and I wouldn't have realised where the orangery was. The walled garden is stunning, there is a beautiful tree in the middle that is perfect for a blanket, book and even a snooze under the watchful gaze of the peacock family. The church was a cool respite in the heat and the history of the estate visible finding the pitch well and brook. We would definitely recommend and return, Tree House Barn is a little slice of heaven, perfect for a quiet retreat of rest and recuperation, just 15 minutes from Meole Brace retail park if you need supplies. A big thank you to the team, we enjoyed every moment. I look forward to not only returning but following the story of the estate growing.

Very good but needs more mugs only 2 for 4 people.

Please do something about the potholes in the drive down to tree house barm.

I've managed to get back to Birmingham but it's done something to the car. Loud banging coming from the front wheel.. those holes are deep and you can't avoid them.

The Tree House Barn – our stay 03-08 May/25.

We found the barn conversion excellent with its high ceilings and appreciated the modern fresh look combined with the antique furniture was very appealing. Plenty of space both inside and out. Everything worked OK, (apart from a couple of dead bulbs in bedside lights so we switched them around to work for the Double bedroom.) The yard and hedging was overgrown when we arrived and was cut as we left, So maybe (in spring) more frequent mowing would add to kerb appeal. I cut down the blackthorn bush threatening to obstruct the main entrance. The isolation definitely appealed to us and allowed terriers a free & safe rein to roam inside and outside the railings which might have contained larger dogs. The minor downside being 1,100 metres dusty farm track to the road with no pub nor shop in the village (nor in Acton Burnell as far as we saw). We need a car-wash now!. I never ascertained how the house is centrally heated. But we didn’t need any. Either some heating Was ‘ON’ – or there is astonishingly effective insulation. We even needed to open windows in the early May evening to cool it down a bit. The doorless loos were a surprise, but for us – no bother. Might be for others. For walking we found a drive to the Strettons was sensible. The marked rights of way near the house are under-used and we found broken bridges and some paths have been ploughed over and sown, and effectively lost. Nevertheless, being allowed to walk the grounds of the main house gave us the early morning and evening stroll with the dogs past the beautiful George Devey house and around the lake. (Nb. Our house in Kent was also built by Mr Devey and is called Devey Lodge.) We couldn’t find the path from the Barn to the village, maybe it has been lost. Some minor suggestions thrown up by our stay: Soft felt ‘stick-ons’ under the legs/feet of the chairs to avoid noisy scraping on the floor flags. More hooks near the main door for coats hats leads lanyards keys etc. A ‘shower tidy’ shelf (inside corner at waist level) for soaps and bottles of unguents. We did drop & crack one of the ltd.edition cups and left £5 underneath it to cover replacement. We will be returning to the area and will definitely consider repeating the visit here. Tree House Barn is a lovely setting, fields all round, dark skies for stargazing, amazing location on the sublime Pitchford estate, which we explored too.

The treehouse is fantastic to see! The barn itself is up a dirt track, which is, as you'd expect..dusty and after rain, a little muddy, but it's not particularly awful, a few ruts in parts, but that added to the fun! Barn is very spacious with good facilities. Wifi is good. Bathrooms are a bit of a weird set up, within the bedroom space, if anyone needs the loo in the night you certainly know about it. There is no specific EV hook up at the property, so you'll need your granny lead plus an extension cable if your lead is less than 2m. We got 1.98kwh so it takes a while to top up, but it's doable. If you want 7kw charging go to the Riverside pub just down the A458 at Cressage (plus the food is lovely and it's dog friendly!) Talking of dogs, the Barn garden was well secured and I could confidently let my dogs out, although if you've got small dogs, I'd say they might be tempted under the fence to the field with the geese in opposite! My retrievers were happy enough in the large space. We were lucky enough to see hares, so many birds, including Redwings and a small herd of deer that streaked through the field next to us! Take your binoculars! Dog friendly places we visited while we stayed were Hawkshead Follies and The Victorian museum at Ironbridge , plus a cracking walk up Carding Mill Valley, we've come home for a rest haha!

We loved our stay here.

Perfect for dogs. The countryside is amazing and the wonderful sight of so many hares first thing in the morning was incredible. The only downside was the feeling that the bedrooms were part of the bathrooms and the lack of privacy whilst using the loo is not always ideal. I like to get up early to walk the dogs and had to clean my teeth in the kitchen sink to avoid waking my husband.

We've used Sykes before and stayed in Stockbatch Granary also on the Pitchford Estate in 2022.

We therefore knew what to expect from the description of the farm track to the property. It was actually much better than we thought and perfectly OK if car has decent ground clearance and you take it slowly. Yes your car will get mucky but the roads around are mucky too. It was so fabulous to be somewhere so peaceful during 'firework week'. We didn't hear a single bang so great for our dogs. The garden was secure/enclosed enough for our dogs who are larger and don't tend to wander but smaller dogs or escape artists would get through the railings. We enjoyed being able to walk from the door although sadly one footbridge through the woods was damaged. Walking around the estate lake was a nice stroll with autumn colour. Sadly clouds meant no dark skies but with zero light pollution I'd imagine this is a great place for stargazing. Bit of a drive to any pubs but most seemed Dog Friendly. The Pound does fabulous pies. If I'm being super picky another sofa would be good if 4 adults in the property but we made do. Contrary to a previous review, there is a microwave (the top oven is a combi). Would definitely return, the garden would be a great suntrap in the summer. Easy to clean although a mop would have been useful (there was a head but no handle). Wifi was fast enough for me to do a couple of days work and for streaming catchup TV on the freesat.

I THINK YOU MUST TELL VISITORS ABOUT THE LONG OVER 1 MILE TRACK AND WHILE WE WERE THERE THE FARMERS WERE WORKING ON THE FIELDS SO THE TRACK WAS AWFUL.

IT HAS JUST COST US TODAY £60 TO GET THE EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR CLEANED ON THE CAR.

This holiday cottage was fantastic.

It was spotlessly clean. Very well equipped. The location was quiet and unspoilt views surrounding it. Would highly recommend.

A perfect holiday let for those seeking peace and quiet.

Beautiful rural location on a farm estate with mature trees, hedgerows and fields all round. You need a robust car with high undercarriage to manage the long rough farm track in and out due to the potholes, especially after rain, but we found it worth this minor inconvenience. Treehouse Barn is spacious, all on one level and decorated and furnished to a high spec. We couldn't fault it and loved the ambience. Without hesitation, we would go back.

We had a lovely week at Tree House Barn in this beautiful part of Shropshire, enjoying visits to Ludlow, Attingham Park, Blists Hill Victorian Town, Long Mynd and Ironbridge as well as several local walks.

The cottage and surroundings were lovely and quiet with wildlife in abundance (deer, hare, red kite, fox etc) The garden was fine for our dog; being small and an escape artist he needed to be kept on a longline in the garden but we expected this and he's used to it on holiday. Loved the kitchen, space, views, silence, dark night skies. Thank you!

Location was perfect so peaceful but could have been 5star if you had a decent sitting area outside the bench provided is so uncomfortable we had a barbecue every night but had to in to eat indoors.

The weather was great and we could have spent more time outside with decent furniture. The flies were a big issue had to buy extra fly killer. There was no microwave, extra chopping boards would be helpful . The paintwork is looking tired on window frames and doors also the weeds by back door could do with removing.We are not being nasty but for the money it could have been better.

It was really wonderful, quiet, convenient, set in an interesting historic estate, well- equipped kitchen and spacious bedrooms and living space.

The only thing that needs improvement is the comfort of the king-size bed mattress. My husband and I both suffer from bad backs which is perhaps why we found it uncomfortable, perhaps a mattress- topper would sort it? But apart from that we had a most enjoyable stay and would highly recommend.

Incredible seeing how such an old barn can be turned into something so beautiful. The dog walking was the best part, lots to explore. Lovely and peaceful, ideal for a quiet relaxing stay. Bed was slightly uncomfortable for us but that is pure preference. Lovely farm drive, not sure why other reviews said this was a problem, just go slow, it’s a working farm?! Karen was so lovely, 10/10, will definitely book again.

The Barn is a beautiful property, set in tranquil, peaceful surroundings.

A wonderful stay in a well equipped barn conversion which is quite and away from the noise of everyday life.

The wifi is good and general facilities excellent (the bath in the bedroom is slightly odd but go with it and it's fine!). Garden is great is you have dogs. Would be nice to see some egg cups but that's a pretty minor, and personal preference. Close to Shrewsbury, which is lovely to explore and the surrounding areas are lovely for walking. The real issue that lets the barn down is the access road. Think moon level craters and a farm track that really requires a sturdy 4x4 and that gives you an idea of what to expect. We prayed for our suspension each time we arrived or left the barn. On the last day the farmer had made some repairs but a careful and slow drive was still required. Would we go back or recommend it? Yes. Just maybe with a tractor next time!

Superb break - this is the perfect place to really get away from it all but with all mod cons!

The accommodation is finished to a high standard and the enclosed garden is a good size for dogs to play. Lovely rural setting and easy access to lots of great places to visit

Road to property needs attention, was awful.

Did get message day or two before warning us of the current state of repair of the road which unfortunately didn’t help. Had a lovely break, weather was nice and sunny, barn was spacious, well equipped and ideal for our needs. Great garden space for our dogs. Nice walks from the barn passing the famous Pitchford tree house.

Beautiful surroundings and cottage really comfortable, clean and well furnished.

Only problem we had was with the dishwasher which did not work at first due to need for salt. This was promptly attended to but unfortunately still did not work. We did not mind washing up by hand but other holiday people may not. We had a great week and weather was excellent. Our holiday was perfect. Sue and friends ( happy for you to publish without dishwasher problem as sure this was rectified)

I loved every minute of this short break.

The barn was exactly as described and I only wish we could have stayed longer. I would love to return. The only things that I would ask the owner to think about are: Maybe another settee in the lounge so everyone can sit in comfort. In the garden some sort of netting over the metal fence to make it secure as we had to keep our dog on his lead as he could fit through the gaps.

Tree House Barn was absolutely perfect for us to get away & to re charge our batteries.

Location was fantastic, it has panoramic views of the countryside in amongst the Pitchford estate. An enclosed private area for the dogs to run around. Plenty of lovely walks & you are able to see Pitchford House & the tree house within a few minutes walk. Would definitely come back.

Quality accommodation, beautiful views, home from home.

Karen was a star with our problem, sending Phil straight over. Warm welcome, lovely real Christmas tree, everything you needed, lovely very large white towels, even a teapot. Four minutes careful drive down estate road to the barn, signposted.

We really enjoyed our stay from beginning to end it was lovely and peaceful .

The Barn was lovely and warm on our arrival.

It was a lovely touch having a bottle of milk, biscuits, tea and coffee there for you to have a drink before you unpack. It is very peaceful with a view of lovely countryside. A great place to relax. Care is needed on the farm track as there are a few potholes and when they are full of water it's difficult to know how deep they are. We would definitely return.

If you want seclusion then this is the place.

Had a great holiday lovely place. The only thing we found being very picky is the wood above doors and windows could do with replacing as flies and wasps gather there and fall from wood when windows open. Lots of killing required. Everything else ideal many thanks

Second time at the barn, love the remoteness and silence, no road noise is lovely.

Views around the barn are outstanding and no one bothers you. Shops are only a 20 minute drive away. The barn could do with a deep clean and a bit of paint, there was a lot of cobwebs and dead (& alive) spiders. Walls were a bit marked and window was still cracked 4 years after the first visit. Outside doors could do with a paint, guttering leaks and there are wasps in the soffits. Garden gate does not latch and blew open, garden is not secure for smaller dogs. Shower tray needs re siliconing as it has gone black. Lack of comfortable garden furniture. We bought some locally, made such a difference to be able to sit outside and read in comfort. This is not to say we didn’t have a nice time, but the property could do with a little spruce up. Maybe a new smart tv where guests could log into their own Netflix account? Don’t be put off by what I’ve written, it’s a lovely place, it just needs a bit of maintenance to get it back to 100%.

This is the 3rd time, and we would go again.

We couldn't have picked a more friendly, efficient service. It was quiet, very quiet and that was what we needed. I would recommend it to anyone.

Had an amazing time did not want to leave middle of nowhere and that was great total relaxation.

this is a lovely property in a beautiful area,what more could you ask for when wanting to chill out and relax,the visit from the fox and pheasants was an added bonus,we would certainly consider another visit in the future

We had a wonderful stay and loved Tree house barn.

A party of two couples, friends for years, meeting up to catch up. Two of us had visited Pitchford Hall once before a few years ago so we were excited to be able to stay on the estate. The barn is in a wonderful location for viewing historical sites and towns of Shropshire. The barn met all of our needs. It had everything you could need in the kitchen including a microwave in the upper oven and the WiFi worked well for us. The bedrooms were at either end of the barn so gave space and privacy. The bathroom door/curtain gave a surprising amount of privacy. And we loved both toilets had amazing views !!! We were impressed with the amount of space the Barn provided for just 4 guests. We thought it would be perfect for 2 as well for a romantic away from it all escape. We only saw one small human twice as he very quickly cycled past in the whole of our 4 night stay. There are a few things we would mention but not in a negative way merely to our taste. The bedrooms are large and need a chair in (we used the spare relaxing chair from the lounge). The shower cubicle is large and raised, the rest of the barn having very easy access, so a grab rail inside the shower would be very useful for us older clients. And just one thing concerned us. A lot of people have mentioned the suitability of the front garden for dogs. We were more concerned of its suitability for children and adults. We didn't have any children with us but the length of the grass, previous use by dogs and invading nettles would have concerned us if we had had. Our weather meant we didn't get a lot of time to sit outside but we did enjoy the time we did spend. Maybe a cut of the grass more often might help although we understand this is farm land. Or even dividing the large area in to two one with short grass for games or simply sitting on and the other for dogs to run around in. Completely aside and on a personal level I felt one of the pictures in the twin room was a little macabre and maybe would be better suited away from from such a happy holiday environment but that was just me. And our final comment has to be for the manager Karen. Such a helpful, supportive and responsive lady a very special thank you to her for her advice making our stay perfect. We hope we can visit again in the future and would definitely recommend.

Lovely property.

Very comfortable and warm. The only thing I would suggest is that the fencing around said enclosed garden would have chicken wire or something like it in between the bars as even labradors can get through, which is a worry if they were to get into crop field. Hopefully this is constructive feed back. A lovely break was had by us and assistance dogs. We shall book again.

Wonderful property.

Wonderful setting. All the facilities that we needed. We had a relaxing holiday. A charging point in a socket in the kitchen area may be an addition that could be looked at.

The only thing missing is a microwave then it would be one of the best places I've ever stayed in.

A lovely cosy barn in a beautiful setting.

We enjoyed our stay at tree house barn, the dogs loved it. We walked the footpath route around the estate which took us around an hour, no animals in the fields at this time of year so the dogs could run the fields. We seen a few partridge, pheasant and hares. We haven’t stayed in a place so remote before but it was perfect. We visited different villages and towns near by which were 20/30 min drive, we had a lovely meal at the riverside pub which I would highly recommend. Overall we had a great time and loved the cottage and would definitely return, the only 2 small things would be the garden isn’t secure for small dogs and in the wetter months there’s no hose outside to wash dogs down/muddy boots which would make it a lot easier.

We The cottage was lovely and remote, just what we wanted.

The facilities were excellent, unfortunately the plumbing was not and the smell of the septic system nearly ruined our holiday, thus the slightly negative review on the facilities and maintenance. However, for the first time in long while in the UK, the customer service was unbelievable. Karen who was the local Sykes cottage representative could not have been more responsive and helpful in trying to fix the problem. And when it was clear that the septic issue was serious, without even missing a beat, Karen courtesy of the owners, moved us to another of their holiday properties, which was a beautiful barn conversion that slept 16 at no extra charge. So what could have been a real disaster was dealt with in such a professional manner by Karen, that I would have to say it was the best holiday cottage we have ever had and my wife and I will go with Sykes again.

We had the most fantastic festive stay at Tree House Barn, staying from Boxing day until the end of the year.

The barn was beautifully warm and cosy with underfloor heating, lovely furnishings and special touches like a lit Christmas tree and a tub of chocolates! The kitchen is very well equipped, the bath and shower were luxurious and we felt like we were at a five star resort. We had rubbish weather (which can't be helped) but we were happy to stay in the barn and had the space to relax and play board games. There is a TV and DVD player to use too. We really hope to come back with better weather so we can see more of the area.

We had a delightful stay.

There is Wi-Fi, but it is so low a speed as to be a nuisance and we agree that it is better not to say it is there. There is no mobile phone coverage (well not on O2 or Vodafone) in the cottage, but it springs to life a few steps outside. The cottage is beautiful and very clean and well maintained by Karen. The drive to the cottage is best suited to a four by four.

Lovely property and lovely setting, we had such a peaceful weekend we will definitely be returning and hopefully for longer next time.

Remembered from a previous visit - with a very high level of comfort and equipment especially the kitchen and sleeping arrangements.

Excellent d/bed. The g/source heating and hot water availability is first class. Brighter bedside lighting needed to read in bed. Side lamps in lounging area again could be stronger. Fortunately we took our own portable lighting for this purpose! Dining chairs were a disappointment in their lack of support and comfort (also rather low for the table). Could a tea cozy be provided for the teapot plus a tea strainer for the leaf tea? These are minor niggles, of course, but we feel the lighting is an important issue. A real home from home feeling.

I was looking forward to being here once again.

It was quiet and peaceful it was beautiful. This time it was gorgeous. It was just as I remember it, clean, all the things there you should have. I must say something about the internet – it was off and again, the next time it was off. I knew how to mend it, but I don’t think I should have to, for the entire trip!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property, very isolated which is perfect for us, cottage warm and comfortable.

Perfect location and a wonderful holiday.

Very private location with beautiful surroundings to wonder around. We holiday in the UK only and this is one of our favourite places. Will definitely be back.

The only thing we would love to see changed is for the black metal fencing to be secured with chicken wire, as it is not a secure garden for small dogs, or to have a baby gate available for the patio doors to be left open, as it was very hot.

We were unaware that apparently on Sykes 'enclosed garden' and 'secure gardens" are different! Despite not being able to allow the dogs off lead all week we had a lovely holiday and would stay again. My wife and I used the week as a "chill out" week with colouring/ puzzles/ reading and music and it was perfect, and even though it was remote there was easy access to various shops for food shopping. The contactless arrival/ departure was perfect for us with the dogs, and enabled us to decide last minute to leave at 11pm Friday night and drive overnight to avoid the Bank Holiday traffic.

We had an awesome time at Tree House Barn.

We loved the remoteness, so peaceful, the barn was well equipped, comfortable and spotless. Our dogs also loved the area and spent most of their time when not walking sitting in the garden watching the wildlife. We will definitely go back ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

An excellent isolated barn, perfectly suited for our needs, plenty of walks on the doorstep for the dog, plus large enclosed grass area attached to the barn.

Well equipped and plenty of space, wifi handy as mobile signal poor. Would recommend this barn for anyone who likes being away from the crowd to just enjoy the surrounding area

Unfortunately the garden is not dog proof, the railings are too far apart, especially as our dogs are small, can get through, needs chicken netting, toilets, needs doors, can be embarrassing, track to the property very rough, key holder needs explicit instructions, otherwise the property is very good, Christine,

Well equipped and good quality fittings. Karen is an excellent property manager. Delightful short walks around the lakes and gardens of Pitchford Hall - even though the many “Private” signs may make you feel a little unwelcome. However, if you are looking for long walks from the door you may be disappointed as some of the estate paths lead to nowhere/locked gates and we even found the public footpaths through the estate were not always passable due to farm crops, despite this being contrary to the farmers obligations. For this reason, all walks from the door must be taken via the Cantlop to Pitchford road, which feels a little unsafe to walk on. So in summary wonderful cottage for most people, if you are happy to use the car for everything other than the occasional short stroll.

Fantastic quiet property in an amazing setting in the middle of nowhere.

There is a long man-made track to and from the accommodation but driving carefully in a low-slung coupe was fine. This was our second stay at Tree House Barn and it won't be our last. It's a great location for walking in the Shropshire Hills or visiting Shrewsbury (5 miles) or Ludlow (25 miles). It's perfect for mutts too. My only slight reservation would be that if there are 4 of you, you need to be quite comfortable with an open toilet/shower in the bedroom! As a couple it was the perfect setup as we slept in one bedroom and used the other at the other end of the building as the bathroom. Wi-fi reception was fine (mobile phone less so).

This was the second year we have been to Tree House Barn and had an absolutely fabulous time.

The cottage is just perfect for us and three dogs. The beds are comfortable and it was so warm and cosy, everything was there which we needed. The welcome tea/coffee etc. was a kind thought. Others have commented that the road to the cottage was not good but if taken carefully and slowly it causes no problems. Tree House Barn is in a lovely peaceful location away from everything and it was great to unwind in such lovely surroundings. We will be back.

Hols review : The Tree House Barn is such delightful place to visit for a peaceful and calm holiday.

The actual barn is well equipped, HOWEVER the major downfall is the beds. ALL THE BEDS ARE JUST AWFUL. The main double bed is so hard. No way could we sleep on that. The two single beds we pushed together. One was ok but the other the springs have gone making it so uncomfortable. Such a shame as the rest of the property is so lovely. PLEASE can the owners look into the sleeping arrangements as seriously a whole week of not much sleep isn’t great option for a holiday break.

An excellent place to stay with a secure garden for a lively dog.

Spacious and warm in winter, with no near neighbours on a large agricultural estate. A peaceful and relaxing visit.

We have had a wonderful 3 night break here and don’t want to leave.

It’s secluded and peaceful here and we’ve all enjoyed our stay, including our 2 dogs and 9/10 year old daughters. Shrewsbury is only a short drive away, and is beautiful, with so much to look at we need to come back.

Everything you need for your stay. Good description of property including the access, which was bumpy, loved how remote it was. Totally away from it all. No phone signal(bliss) Wifi not working but we didn't mind that.

We spent a lovely Christmas at Tree House Barn, and would go back in an instant!

The barn was warm, comfortable and very well equipped. The Wi-Fi was not happening, but that wasn’t an issue for us, and the lack of telephone signal (unless you opened the door and we’re lucky) wasn’t an issue for us either! The internet was resolved on the day we left, so future guests need not worry! The kitchen was a pleasure to be in (so my friend said!), and the beds were so comfy!! The dog had a big garden to wander round, and that was enough for him! The route to the barn led down a very wet and muddy lane, with lots of holes! The only downside to the entire holiday was the car looked like a farm vehicle by the end!! Would recommend the barn to anyone, and the gifts of a bottle of bubbly and some delicious biscuits was the icing on the cake!

Loved it.

We normally book cottages with an open fire, just in case the heating isn't too efficient and as this one hadn't got one I took some throws for the evenings.... very much not required!!!! The underfloor heating is fab (the dogs loved it too!!). Beautiful cottage, excellent facilities in lovely surroundings. Very happy to recommend and it we're back in this neck of the woods I would have no hesitation in booking again

everything about this place was terrific if we had to be picky it would be the drive from the road to the property that had quite a lot of potholes in it but that is being really picky

Beautiful barn in a Beautiful location

Broken double glazed bedroom window is reducing the effectiveness of approach to energy conservation.

Although there were outside lights positioned overlooking the garden area they appeared not to work making it very difficult to determine whether or not it was necessary to clear up after the dogs when let out after dark! Rather more remote than expected but this added to a lovely peaceful escape.

Thé double bed was very uncomfortable - mattress too lumpy Track could do with potholes being filled especially in wet weather A few extra mugs wouldn’t go amiss if using dish washer Loved the location and peace and quiet - are guests allowed to wander around estate?

The cottage was absolutely beautiful and the views but getting to the cottage down the road was very bad

We had a wonderful relaxing break in Tree House Barn.

We went with two children (2 & 6) who both really enjoyed walking around the estate and exploring! We enjoyed the barns spacious rooms and the large bathtub which we had nice bath bombs in several times in the week. The barn is located down a slightly bumpy farm track which is a little more hairy in wet weather but we didn't mind at all as it was so nice to be remote. The field out the front was excellent for throwing a new boomarang and hiding in the grass!! A couple of bits of feedback - the dryer part of the washer dryer doesn't seems to work or is so fussy doesn't easily work. The mattress on one of the single beds really isn't comfortable at all and needs replacing and some of the chairs although look nice, are not very comfy to sit on. However this didn't impact our holiday as we had a great time and loved the property. Thanks to Karen and Phil who manage the property and we're happy to help.

We spent a wonderfully peaceful week at Tree House Barn in July.

The barn is located in quite a remote spot across fields, reached by a farm track, and all around is countryside, some amazingly rare wildlife and tranquility. Just the quiet calm we needed after months of intensive working from home. The converted barn was spacious and comfortable, and has a mix of classic older furnishings with modern facilities. The modern and well-equipped kitchen especially was a delight to work in with the open-plan design meaning no separation from other family members enjoying time on the sofa whilst preparing culinary delights. The outside space was great for our two medium/large dogs who enjoyed sunbathing on the south facing expanse whilst we were happy that the fencing kept them securely within the grounds of the property. We saw a horse or two and the same number of walkers pass by all week. It was just the place we needed to get away from town life. There are interesting places to visit from here and walks to be had either directly from the barn or in the local area that can be driven to. We'd love to return to chill out and relax again in a place we felt very comfortable with. Karen, the local property manager, was also very helpful. If you want to get away from it all - this is the place to escape to.

A fantastic place to stay and we will definitely go back.

It really is in the middle of nowhere and so peaceful. The only thing worthy of note is that you don't want to enter the estate via the Pitchford Church entrance unless you have a 4x4. We took a fairly low sling 'coupe' which made the last hundred yards of that way in impassable as it was round the edge of a field and we had to turn back. There is a better way in if you go 1/2 mile further up the road and take the long driveway next to a post-box on the left. Still a bit hairy but driving carefully passed without incident (after 1/4 mile, Tree House Barn is hidden down a small track on your left on a sharp right hand bend). Well worth it though!
