  • "Great house very well equipped with everything we needed for our holiday."

We appreciated the coffee, orange juice, wine and chocolates, thank you! A light /lamp nearer the table would help as it was a little dark when we ate later in the evening or when playing board games. Would love to visit again sometime

The landlords are really helpful too.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

The cottage is very handy for central Buxton and local attractions in the town. Parking in the street can be a little difficult if arriving late.

  • "There was a bottle of red wine, carton of orange juice and a box of chocolates awaiting us on our arrival which was a lovely touch."

We understood there was no washing machine from the listing but I think having a washing machine rather than the dishwasher would make sense esp as we had a lot of cycling and hiking gear to wash. However a lovely stay on a quiet street v close to the centre.

  • "A lovely holiday home."

Very comfortable beds. Everything you need, the only thing that you might miss is a washing machine but there is a laundrette close by. Nice finishing touches like biscuits and chocolates left by the hosts. The host were friendly and very helpful with any requests. Brilliant location close to the town and lots of nice walks. Would love to return again.

Parking can sometimes be difficult. I agree with others that a washing machine would be useful.

  • "Lovely little house in walking distant to central buxton lots of shops, pubs and parks."

Parking was quite tricky at times just because it’s a terraced street so lots of cars. Host was really welcoming letting us into the property early and she also posted my sons cuddly toy back to us which we left behind!!

A wonderful base for our family holiday. Easy access to all of the beautiful Buxton sites and the owners of the property were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend!

Beautifully clean and thoughtful touches like a complimentary bottle of wine in the kitchen when we arrived. A great base for some beautiful countryside walks and the pubs and restaurants of Buxton are very near by.

Would certainly book again. Could do with a washing machine. Smaller than the photos look. Overall nice and comfy.

  • "It was a wonderful stay for a party of four women!"

An extra bathroom would have been the only thing that would top this. Perfect location for getting around in town and out. Parking on the road was expected and not too problematic. Cute little patio area for breakfast/ evenings. Beds and bedding were super comfy after a long day of hiking. The cookies, wine and milk in the fridge were a nice touch after a long journey there :) thank you very much for a comfortable long weekend trip.

  • "Great house for a holiday."

Convenient to all local shops . Could do with a blackout blind in main bedroom and knives could be sharper otherwise absolutely brilliant place . Love the little courtyard at back and was safe for our mini dachshund. Buxton is a lovely town and was able to do lots of walks from the house. Felt safe in these challenging times.

  • "Property lovely and clean."

Smaller in real life than the photos look but excellent as a base to visit Buxton and the Peak District. The property owners clearly take pride in the presentation of the property and there are lovely touches such as leaflets with ideas on what to do, a kitchen fully stocked with cleaning products, a dishwasher, clothes horse (no washing machine but good for drying hand washing) and even cookies, a bottle of wine and pint of milk on arrival - thank you! Owners very responsive too, they sorted out a minor issue very quickly for us. Great service, highly recommended hosts. Key collection procedure very straightforward too.

  • "The house was extremely cosy & comfortable."

It was a lovely short walk from the town. The only thing we felt it missing was a washing machine, as we were working at the theatre that week, we would have liked to have washed some clothes but that is very minor. Other than that the house was perfect!

  • "Great location for food, drink, shops, and garage, the area is quite hilly so a good set of legs comes in handy, great scenery with lots of market towns nearby, In the property the stairs are a little to steep for people with leg problems, also the stair case ceiling height is a bit low."

other than that a lovely peaceful stay with good communication with the owners

  • "Lovely cosy accommodation which was incredibly well equipped."

The owners clearly go out of their way to make people feel welcome. The bedrooms were a good size and beds very comfortable. Having plenty of hot water when returning from a long days hike was wonderful. The house is perfectly positioned for exploring Buxton on foot, as well as for accessing the surrounding area of the Peak District by car. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

It makes such a difference after a long drive. We also enjoyed the town - plenty to see and do, and a great choice of restaurants, all within walking distance.

  • "The house was lovely."

Val was very accommodating, as I had failed to tell her that we would like the bed set up as singles until the day of arrival, but she was happy to come and rearrange them. The house was spotless, all beds were very comfy, and the kitchen was well equipped. I would however recommend some black out blinds or some heavier curtains, as the current curtains are very thin and light.

This cottage was clean modern and all the added extras (towels, shower gel, tea, coffee, toilet rolls, milk etc) was very helpful for our stay. We stayed here over christmas and with all the kitchen essentials I was able to cook easily, it was home from home. Shower powerful, beds very comfy, house warm, welcoming lounge and even the nice touch of Xmas decorations. Thanks Jill

On street parking was difficult at times. Very steep stairs with low headroom not mentioned in particulars. The positives outweighed the above. Very helpful giving us a later checkout. Could this flexibility be flagged up on the details.? Presentation and cleanliness were of a very high standard. Lovely touch with extras- wine, biscuits, tea, coffee, milk, shower gel.

Very comfortable beds and a nice patio with plants at the back. There was a more than adequate supply of household goods and the bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. Lots of hot water. It was an easy walk to the town centre. The neighbourhood was very quiet. Well equipped kitchen. A downstairs loo would have made it perfect, but appreciate there is probably no space for this.

About the location

BUXTON

Tideswell 7 miles; Bakewell 12 miles; Matlock 21 miles.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the bubbling blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. However it was during the 18th and 19th centuries, under the patronage of successive Dukes of Devonshire, that the Palladian splendour of the Buxton of today was designed and built - including the magnificent semi-circular Crescent, The Great Stable, Hall Bank, The Square, The Pavilion Gardens and The Opera House. Today visitors continue to enjoy these magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and gentle hills and dales to the south and a number of pretty towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale. The stunning properties of Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy driving distance and must be seen while visiting this area. A great base for exploring the Peak District.
