Church View

As soon as we settled in & took our cases upstairs , I noticed what looked like burn holes on the louvre blind on the bathroom window!

Toilet was unclean ! Then I saw a cobweb on the master bedroom wall ! Downstairs the gas hob had grease on it & the oven was not clean! I found food residue on a few knives& forks & on some of the cooking pans ! Chips on a couple of the plates & coffee stains left on cups! Very smelly kitchen sink with unclean sink ! Floor tiles in the dining room were very loose & moved under your feet every time you entered the room! Very musty smell in all the rooms downstairs with many reed oil bottles in most of the rooms & in the bedrooms upstairs ! I had to wash every dish / cooking pans/ knives &forks / cups / glasses that we used while staying in Church View! I really do not understand the great reviews for this house! There was so many dog mucous marks on the lower middle pane of glass in the Bay window in the lounge , you could not see clearly out the window during the day & at night time the marks were even more obvious! This house had definitely not been cleaned properly before we arrived in the house !!! Having stayed in 2 other Skye’s rentals last year which were spotless we were shocked to find this home so very dirty & smell so musty all through the home , especially as you entered the home ! The owner arrived about 5 minutes after we arrived as we were 10 minutes early due to our taxi making good time during the journey ! The owner requested that if we were going out , could we turn the gas central heating off to save energy !!! This house likely smells so musty due to the heating being kept down to 18 degrees or even turned off while empty !! I would not recommend to any of my friends to rent this home unless the cleaning issue got sorted ! We were very disappointed with the holiday in general due to the condition of the hygiene of the home when we arrived !! Had I thought if it I would have taken photos of all the issues we found in this home as evidence of the condition we found this house in ! Mr. & Mrs S.J. Hopkins ! Manchester !

This must be one of the nicest holiday rentals that we have stayed in.

Buxton is great with the opera house and spa but the access to fantastic walks makes it special for me The house was amazing. The kitchen dining area were so good with a lovely welcome pack. The bedrooms were all massive and perfect. Thanks you

Central to the town, very clean and welcoming period property. Would stay again!

Lovely house, great location, nice and clean, would happily stay here again.

..only issue was it's street parking and it could be difficult to get a space, we didn't have a problem but the street does get busy, this obviously is not any fault of the property.

A Perfect Buxton Base for Family Fun!

We recently stayed at No. 6 Church View as a group of five and absolutely loved it! The house had bags of space — plenty of room for everyone to spread out and relax. The bedrooms were spacious and comfy, and the large kitchen table was perfect for enjoying a delicious curry from the local takeaway (highly recommend!). After dinner, we all piled into the lounge for a chilled evening — loads of seating and a lovely cosy vibe. The location is spot-on too — just a short stroll to all the great things Buxton has to offer. Whether it’s shops, cafes, or scenic walks, everything is right on your doorstep. This was our second family get-together in Buxton, and we’re already planning to book No. 6 Church View again for next year. It’s become our go-to spot for making memories. Highly recommend!

A lovely house, good location for central Buxton, very well equipped and we had a very comfortable stay.

Parking on the road outside is free and unrestricted and if there is no space directly outside, surrounding roads have 2 hour parking bays which were usually available. There is road noise from the main road going past the church, particularly from lorries, which only bothered us around 6am. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at No 6, many thanks to the owners.

Gorgeous house that was actually much bigger than I expected!

Perfect for 6 adults, 2 toddlers & 2 dogs! Location was perfect, so close to Buxton town centre with lots of pubs and restaurants near by. Parking was a bit tricky for 3 cars as the road was busy, but we managed to get a spot

The welcome pack was gratefully received.

We enjoyed the period features with no compromise on comfort. Close to excellent bookshops!

Great location, set 5 minutes from the centre of Buxton.

Generally a comfortable stay. Good communication from the owners.

We were cold during our stay.

I suspect that the house was empty beforehand as it was 16 degrees when we arrived and took a long time to warm up. There were no instructions on how to change the thermostat and the boiler was locked in a cupboard and so we couldn't access a boost button. The kitchen and adjoining room were very cold - the adjoining room is probably lovely in summer, but it's freezing in winter with a plastic roof and no heating. The dining room was too cold to eat in and the open fire in the lounge throws out very little heat (a log burner would be much more effective). Once we worked out how to use the mobile thermostat, we could get the lounge to about 19 degrees (at home we run at about 19/20 degrees, so we don't need it super warm. The bedrooms were cold on the first night and there were no spare blankets in two of the rooms and so everyone slept in jumpers. In summer this would be a lovely place to stay, but in winter it's definitely for the hardy.

Brilliantly situated within easy walk of the bustling interesting town of Buxton with plenty choices for pubs cafes and restaurants. We only took the car out once as so much to do in Buxton. We managed to park outside the house, you just have to choose your times. Plenty parking in next street if not. Lovely comfortable town house, bed so comfy and housewell equipped with everything you could need. Welcome pack goodies much appreciated thank you.

The lounge was quite cold because the radiator didn't seem to be working.

The fridge needs an icebox / freezer compartment as it is not possible to keep ice cubes for drinks and food items such as frozen pees and ice cream.

Lovely property with lots of original features and in a great location within walking distance of Buxton centre.

Comms was good and stair gates and high chair were supplied in request. Parking spaces were a bit of a lottery so ended up a couple of streets away once or twice and the road noise from the lorries on Vale Rd was very noticeable especially early morning,but overall a good stay

The location of the property is ideal to explore Buxton.

Parking was an issue however at the property as the road was always very busy, so we were not able to park outside the address. The decor downstairs could do with a tidy up as I felt it was a somewhat tired.This was also the case in the bathroom with some peeling wallpaper. The upstairs was lovely, very spacious with comfortable beds.

Very nicely decorated throughout and very clean as well. Had a lovely few days stay. Would benefit from a freezer as this could be an issue for longer stays. All round a very nice property indeed.

We all had a wonderful time here. Maybe a fridge/freezer needs to be considered as no facility to keep frozen food or ice.

We couldn’t work the heating out at first but the owner provided instructions and then we were warm and comfortable throughout. It’s perfect for a family and we could walk everywhere.

The owners were very helpful when we contacted them with a minor problem which they dealt with immediately and fixed. We liked the welcome pack and found the facilities and everything well stocked. We would definitely recommend to a friend. Perfect for our family of 5 and dog, lots of space and very comfortable.

Overall a very nice property to stay in, it was comfortable and warm and reasonably well equipped A few things would have made our stay better 1.

Curtains in the front bedroom need a blackout blind or equivalent to block out day light or street light 2. Freezer space would be advantageous - we hadn't realised and our shop resulted in some food being thrown out. I see others have commented on Car parking outside the house but this was not a problem - clearly the Vets close by attracts a lot of short term visitors which may make it more difficult

Church view is a delightful, characterful property which manages to combine generous proportions whilst still maintaining a homely feeling.

We loved the open fire and the much appreciated complimentary basket of kindling/logs. The thoughtful welcome basket of edible goodies was also appreciated. Church View was ideally situated for all the shops restaurants and parks in the area - all of which were in walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely revisit if in the area.

We had a really lovely 3 day break, enjoying the area around Buxton.

Easy to visit places like Edale and Castleton from the lovely house we stayed in. They have an open fire in the sitting-room and there was a ‘starter’ pack of coke to make a fire. This was much appreciated as it turned out quite cool in the evenings. However, if you want more you have to pick up more supplies locally from Tesco Metro or logs from B&Q. Our only bug bear was the parking. We went before the bank holiday weekend and the only place to park was on the road. But finding a place in front of the house was impossible. We had to park at the end of the road and carry all our luggage up the road to the house. But all in all, even with the parking we had a lovely time and the host Jeremy was very helpful without being intrusive.

Fantastic house to stay in located close to town.

Very cosy with lovely original features. Very clean and kitchen was fully stocked with all utensils you’d possibly need. Outdoor patio captures all the evening sun which was a lovely setting to enjoy a glass of Prosecco on arrival! Will definitely return.
