Property is very well positioned to visit all the scenic beauty that the Derbyshire Dales and Peak District has to offer.

Property very well maintained and very comfortable. Everything you could want is in the property. The private garden area was an added attraction which we used taking advantage of the late day sunshine with a glass of wine. Owners very friendly and there should we have needed them. This was a return visit - again!

The Stables Always offer us everything to make our stay enjoyable and rewarding. Accomodation is just superb, Peace and Tranquility in abundance but never a dull moment with the location and farm animals. The Tissington Trail is just a short walk away for the adventurous and Ashbourne, Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton within a short drive to explore. Tom and Irene as always just make you feel so welcome and we can't wait to rebook without any hesitation.

Handy for cyclists with the trails available. Also lots of walking and various attractions for the young and old. lovely scenery all around the farm and surrounding area. Plus the fascination of the donkey's and goats which you can feed.

We really enjoyed our break at The Stables, the accommodation was great, Tom and Irene who own the property are welcoming and friendly, on arrival, there was a basket of 6 fresh eggs and milk , which was a lovely gesture, the area is stunning, some really pretty villages.

We had a lovely week, despite the weather.

Everyone was very friendly and the cottage was everything we expected and more. I really enjoyed feeding the donkeys and goats every day, the Billy goat was especially funny. If we're ever back in the area this is the cottage we would choose.

The stables is a well presented very comfortable accommodation with everything provided that you could need for your say.

The setting is beautiful and we enjoyed visiting the friendly goats. The owners were very friendly and available if needed.

This is the best cottage we have holidayed in.

It is absolutely superb for us as we are late 70s early 80 years old and partially disabled. Everything was on one level and obviously well thought out. The decor was particularly nice, bedding lovely and the shower great for us. The weather could have been better but no fault of the owners, who unfortunately we did not meet as they were on holiday too. We were well prepared with lots to read or do inside when it rained. 24th April to 1st May We had a great time here the cottage was lovely n warm on arrival n was greeted by owner lovely people, it was so quiet n the animals made it even more enjoyable.

Can’t fault the stay.

The owners were friendly and helpful. But we’re unimposing. The stables was delightful and had everything you could think of to start the week. We found the location central to most places and only a short drive to some lovely pubs which served great food. For the animal lovers in you, goats and donkeys were nearby, close enough to sneak a carrot and apple to. For those not so keen, they were a reasonable distance away. Would definitely stay again.

A great cottage if you want a nice quiet stay in the countryside, which we did.

Very friendly owners who both took the trouble to see if everything was okay, which it was, and also friendly and inquisitive goats and donkeys. Would definitely stay there again if looking for that part of the country.

We had a lovely stay at The Stables.

The cottage was comfortable and clean. It is one of the few cottages I have stayed in where we didn’t have to wash the pots and pans before we used them. It was lovely to see the donkeys and goats every day. We were in the area primarily to visit family but we did enjoy visiting Bakewell and Castleton while there. We will definitely be back.

Our second visit to The Stables.

A comfortable cottage in a great location. Equipped with everything you'll need. Helpful and friendly owners. We are already looking forward to a return trip at some point in the future.

Absolutely superb accommodation.

It is a beautiful property, with pretty much every need catered for. It is warm and comfy with loads of space for two people. It was a really lovely touch to find half a dozen eggs and a pint of milk as well as prosecco on arrival - and a Christmas tree! The kitchen is superb, it is a very rural location (perfect for us) and we could easily cook every day without needing to travel especially to eat out. Nice touches to have washing up liquid and cleaning products as well as a dishwasher. The bed was comfy and the shower hot and roomy. The owners are friendly and welcoming and on hand if you need anything. Ideally situated between Ashbourne and Buxton we explored the stunning Peak District National Park and enjoyed loads of walks and sightseeing, we even had a little bit of snow to add to the magic. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely break at the Stables cottage for my partner's birthday.

Could not fault anything about it. We had everything we needed and more. The cottage was lovely and warm which we were grateful for as the temperature dropped while we were there. Set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings and it was lovely to be able to pet the donkeys and goats. Would be good if there was a visitors book to leave reviews for the owners who were very friendly and helpful.

The accommodation was superb, the owners friendly and happy to chat, but not intrusive. We were able to feed the goats, donkeys and horse. Local pub recommendations were excellent. Ideally situated for walking and cycling.

The Stables, Ashbourne.

Excellent walking and touring base. Fabulous accommodation with everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable, quiet, and spotlessly clean. Very welcoming hosts, thank you for the welcome goodies too, much appreciated. Overall, this is an excellent base with so much to see and do without travelling much more than 20 to 30 minutes. Highlights for us included walks around Dovedale and Thorpe Cloud, Wolfscote Dale, the Tissington Trail, Cromford Canal, and Matlock Bath. Visits also to Crich Tramway Village and Haddon Hall. Would definitely return!

Lovely cottage and very comfortable.

Would definitely stay there gain. I wish I’d known we could feed apples to the goats as i have an apple orchard and could have brought a whole box full with us. Had to settle for just the few we brought to eat.

Perfect little farm stay!

The Stables was great accommodation for a couple and had everything we needed. It was clean and very comfortable. The fresh eggs were a lovely welcome . The farm is really close to the High Peak and Tissington Trail so good for those with bicycles and those wanting to hire them. The donkeys , horse and goats were fun to have on the doorstep too. Lovely well equipped cottage on Whitecliffe Farm.

Very handy for the Tissington and High Peak cycle trails, walks and touring around the delightful Peak District. A quiet location with the owners goats and donkeys to chat to or feed in their fields adjacent.

We felt the property was very clean, tidy and well equiped. We enjoyed playing the games in the games cupboard. It was nice to have a friendly chat with you and we enjoyed feeding the animals. The fresh eggs were a lovely touch.

Excellent self catering cottage, very well maintained by the owners,who live on site.

They were always available for any queries, but never intrusive.Milk and eggs left on our arrival were very welcome. The cottage, ideal for two, one of three on the site, has small patio and lawn,the attraction for us was the peace and quiet .Recommend 100%—-we will be back.

On arrival the owner greeted us at the property and welcomed us.

She then proceeded to tell us that there was no wifi as they had, had a storm and a tree had taken the cables down. She said she had contacted BT and was waiting for it to be repaired. She then said she would keep us informed during the week as to what was happening. Sadly she never spoke to us regarding this issue again. We also had no phone signal so we were completely cut off from the world. We were very disappointed with this, so much so that we went home a day early.

We've had a great Christmas stay at the stables, it's a lovely size and very cosy.

Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived with a suitably equipped kitchen and bathroom. You are also able to feed the farms donkeys and goats which is a great activity for big or small children.

This was a return visit for us as we were last here in mid August and were so impressed, we rebooked again on our return home for Mid November.

Couldn't have been more Diverse from mid summer to a snowy Christmas Card scene but the Stables yet again proved it's worth in buckets! Warm and Cosy with superb facilities and Tom even got his shovel out and cleared the steps for us! Highly recommended and will definately be booking again!

We searched for weeks looking for a peaceful break that ticked all the boxes,(always a challenge!

) The Stables delivered big time on all our wishes. All Pro's and No Cons. With the Tissington Trail just a walk away, The Area, Location and accommodation was just top notch, and not forgetting the neighbours, (Especially the Goats and Donkeys!) who provided Great entertainment value. The Icing on the cake was from our hosts - Tom and Irene who made us feel so welcome, even fresh eggs and milk provided! Fabulous experience, Will we be booking again? Without a doubt!

We have been holidaying in the Peak District for many years & of all the places we have stayed, this is the best.

If I could give it 6 stars I would. The Stables is very well equipped, complete with wonderful free range eggs. Beautifully furnished & in a great position to explore from. Added to which Thomas & Irene are wonderful hosts along with Bud & Ted their fantastic dogs. We are already planning our next visit.

This was our second stay at The Stables and we were just as impressed with the property as last year.

Everything was perfect and its situation is ideal for us with so much to visit in the locality. The donkeys and the goats being an added bonus and my husband was particularly pleased to meet up again with his fourlegged footballing friend. Very spacious and clean, with everything we needed for our stay. Great location, very close to many of the attractions, Dove Dale, Cromford Mills, Carsington water, Matlock, Buxton and Bakewell . Will definitely be staying there again.

The Stables is a lovely holiday cottage; it was perfect for the two of us.

Although the weather wasn’t the best we still had a lovely base to explore this beautiful area. There are so many walks, villages, towns and stately homes to discover. The cottage itself was very well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday and the farm setting was excellent. There was really good pub food at the Jug and Glass. We enjoyed the curious goats and friendly donkeys on the farm. Thanks also for the eggs and milk on arrival.

Excellent spot for touring the area because of location reception to tv can be a problem at times but could not fault the cottage also the Wi-Fi for I pads was excellent if you love goats it’s for you

This is a comfortable cottage - good chairs and bed and a well-equipped kitchen.

We came intending to walk and cycle and that's what we did: the car didn't move during our stay and the immediate landscape is attractive. The two nearest pubs - at Biggin and Parwich, each about two miles - were fine for drink and food. They're not restaurants, just good country pubs. Nice to have eggs from the farm in our welcome pack.

The property was faultless, clean and tidy - everything you have at home was there.

The owners were extremely helpful and friendly. we had great fun with their sheepdogs and the goats , of course. The Stables provided a wonderful restful retreat after spending the day visiting the many lovely places in Derbyshire. would love to visit again in the future.

This was our 2nd holiday at the Stables Cottage and it was perfect in every way.

We can cycle from the cottage straight onto the Tissington Way in 5 minutes, the bikes are safely stored in the shed. It was lovely to have eggs and milk on our arrival. The walk at Milldale is worth a visit. The reason we came back is the cottage has everything you need, the cleanliness and location is perfect. We look forward to returning next year.

Stables cottage was in a lovely situation for all the places we wanted to visit.

It was very comfortable, spotlessly clean and always nice and warm. Everything you could need in the kitchen was there. We loved seeing all the animals, goats, donkeys, horse and (the dog my football companion with his ball). We can thoroughly recommend the cottage and hope to go again soon.

The Stables provided a lovely warm and cosy base to come home to after a day's walking, despite the cold conditions outside.

It was beautifully clean on arrival and everything inside was modern and in new condition, we didn't want for anything. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily revisit in the future. The owners are very friendly and there are goats and donkeys to be petted on the farm.. There are walks to be done from the door and many others within a short drive, so it was ideally located for us on a walking holiday..

Fabulous relaxing week away from “normal’ life.

The Stables had everything beautiful setting with everything provided in this lovely wrll equipped home. Bed was so comfortable! Donkeys an added bonus!

Really lovely little cottage.

Everything was clean and in good working order and the cottage was just really cosy. The owners were very friendly and left half a dozen eggs and a carton of milk for our use which was nice. In terms of location, you are about 10 mins from Dovedale and 15 mins from Ashebourne which is very convenient. Overall a brilliant experience and one that we can definitely recommend.

Well-presented and -maintained, spacious, light and airy property in a quiet but convenient location, with excellent parking directly outside, separate for each rental property.

Would have received 5 stars if there had been a bread bin and bread board (instead of using general chopping board) in the kitchen, and if the shower room had a towel rail alongside the basin, and a bigger shelf. The online summary didn't make clear that towels and electricity are included.

We had a lot of snow when we were there and Tom and Irene made sure we were okay, warm and comfortable, even offering to take us out to get food if needed! The accommodation was so clean and comfortable, we felt like we were in our own little world which is exactly what we needed!

The owners, Irene and Thomas were very welcoming and helpful, and on the day we arrived must have been looking out for us, as we drove right past the farm and Irene got in her car to come to point us in the right direction!! It was nice to find fresh eggs and milk on our arrival. We were sorry not to see them before we left, although we did ring their doorbell but got no reply. Beautifully clean with lots of space were the first things we noticed and there was everything you will need for your holiday The owners are very nice and helpful but never intruding they very kindly left fresh eggs and milk There was an added bonus of seeing their horse, donkeys and goats too you are allowed to feed the goats and donkeys Sofa is very comfortable as the bed is too !

Just returned from a lovely week at the Stables.

It was really great, spotlessly clean and with all the facilities you need for a comfortable holiday. Also near to all the places we wanted to visit. The hosts were lovely and had put fresh eggs and milk in the cottage for our arrival but then left us alone to enjoy our stay. Will certainly go again if we fancy a break in this part of the country.

It is in a good location for cycle trails and walks. Its a short drive to the Pub and Dovedale. The owners were very welcoming and approachable.

the cottage was so well appointed that we needed nothing more.

The furnishings were of a very high standard. The whole area was tidy and clean. The best self catering facility we have ever stayed in.

The Stables was a lovely little holiday cottage tucked away in a farmyard setting surrounded by beautiful peak district countryside.

The cottage was very well equipped and sparklingly clean. The owner was very pleasant and helpful. He showed us around when we arrived and then just left us to have a really relaxing 3 night break which was just what we needed! Thank you for a lovely stay. We'd love to return one day.

Every thing was as expected really enjoyed our stay, the animals make a great addition they are super friendly.

The owners were lovely and very helpful but also left us to it. The cottages there are very comfortable and warm, perfect when coming home from a chilly walk in the Peak District. It’s nice and secluded but still close enough to towns to visit or shop. We will definitely be coming back. Thanks

Whilst there will be other trips to different places, no doubt we will return to the Stables when possible, and will make it our first choice to check availability when returning to the Peak District. Clean, well decorated, comfortable sofa and chair. One of the best cottages we have stayed in. Wonderful highly recommend.

This holiday was absolutely fantastic, we just didn’t stay enough nights!

Will definitely stay again. Only silly thing was there was no Tea or coffee so had to go out and get some the next day. But that was the only negative issue. Other than that would definitely recommend anyone go. Jake and Sam.

I've been cottage holidaying for over ten years and this is the best one yet!

Immaculately decorated and kitted out, everything spotless and very good quality. So many little touches that were appreciated (I'm used to bringing with me... Kitchen and loo roll, hand soap, tin foil, dish soap, dish washer tabs, tea and hand towels) but all was there!! Quality of pans, pots, croqs were all great, that I was happy to cook. Location was brilliant, perfect for us for walking. Very friendly hosts. Just a brilliant stay all round. We hope to return.

Fantastic cottage.

Roomy with all mod cons. Comfortable and well equipped for all our needs. Probably the best cottage we have stayed in over recent years. Situated in a handy place to enjoy the delights of the Derbyshire Dales.

The weather was awful , but the Stables made our stay outstanding whilst the heavy rain was falling outside we were snug inside, I saw the plain shell of this building , what a excellent transformation excellent layout, so quite and peacefull ,Puzzled by the lack of a history book that one adds comments apart from that fully recharged Cynthia and Roy

The Stables is lovely.

We were greeted when we arrived and the property was lovely for us two. Everything we needed and very comfortable. We had a lovely stay and were lucky enough to have great weather to explore the Peak District. I do recommend a walk uip Stanage edge just outside Hathersage. Fantastic views!

Had a really lovely weekend in this beautiful cottage.

Arrived early evening Friday, the cottage was easy to find with the directions of the owners on the email and was in a lovely, quiet, peaceful lane just under 10 minutes from Ashbourne. We was greeted by the owners and given the key - was then left to do our own thing the whole weekend. Cottage was done really nicely and was spacious for just the 2 of us and had a lovely sunny little garden and tables and chairs. I particularly liked that the bed was really comfy, it had lovely soft bed sheets, and provided us with really soft towels! The farm was really quiet and we hardly saw anyone, there was 2 goats opposite our cottage who we thought were really funny and entertaining and you were able to feed them sliced apple! The cottage was also within 20 minutes to Casstington on water, dovedale and the monsal trail which we did whilst there! Wish we had longer, thank you!

Really nice cottage very peaceful location and right in the heart of the Peak District.

The cottage was very clean just right for a couple everything was there including the Donkey's and Goats !

We had a lovely four nights here and wish it was longer.

The owners were lovely, close enough if we needed anything but not interfering at all. The Stables had a lovely little garden with a bench that was beautiful to sit out on in the sun and listen to the birds. Cottage was a really good size and had everything we needed and more. Wifi was super. Will definitely return.

The stables is perfect for 2 people - plenty of space, well equipped, beautifully furnished and clean.

It had a private parking space and a small outside eating and grass area. Ideal for touring the Peak District and surrounding area. Owners were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Highly recommended.

My husband and I have just spent 4 days at The Stables.

It is a beautiful, modern cottage and was exceptionally clean. Everything we needed in the kitchen was provided (though we didn't use much of it!) and there was plenty of room throughout for the two of us to live comfortably. The owners were friendly, but not intrusive, and it was so peaceful on the farm. Excellent position for exploring the Peak District - we would certainly stay again

Just spent an enjoyable short break at the Stables.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. The cottage was very comfortable and contained everything you could need it had all been thought of and was there for you. Although you are on a farm the Stables was a very peaceful place to be. Will definitely be back for another stay.

Owners were friendly and welcoming but also respected our privacy.

Feeding the goats and donkeys was a delight and a nice addition to our holiday. The stables were extremely warm and comfortable, importantly, the bed.

Lovely remote cottage in a beautiful area!

They’ve thought of everything, from the stunning modern interior, extremely comfy bedding, varied selection of films, even a games cabinet! We absolutely loved the cottage and would definitely come back again to revisit this wonderful area.
