The Dell

Loved the 'Dell' Being there during very hot weather, the property was nice and cool.

Plenty of outside space to sit, chasing the sun, shaded by giant trees all around. A very happy place to be. Winster, the nearby village was very idealic, and the local shop there was brilliant. Great cakes and great musli, and was walkable from the house.

Immaculately clean and well presented & comfortable accommodation within easy reach of Peak District attractions. Very generous welcome pack and fresh flowers. Ideal for a romantic getaway and a short climb up the bank to the Miners Standard for great food and real ale!

The Dell is a fantastic holiday home, everything you could ever need.

Very friendly and helpful owners. During an extreme heatwave the cottage was lovely and cool. The location is wonderful, very peaceful set in beautiful grounds surrounded by trees, lots of wildlife. We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary while staying, and I cannot think of a better place to be. Perfect for touring the Peak District, wonderful countryside and views in all directions.

The cottage was well equipped and on the edge of a lovely village.

Lovely outside space with plenty of places to sit. Good walking around the area. Great location for visiting sites such as Biddulph Grange Garden (National Trust), Haddon Hall and Chatsworth. Good bus service to Bakewell and Matlock.

The Dell is a delightfull cottage, full of character, in a extremley attractive setting, within a few minutes of a local pub serving good food and within walking distance of the village centre.

We relly enjoyed our stay and would have no hestation in recommending the cottage, especiially for people who enjoy walking the many footpaths the ares including the Limestone Way. Bakewell and Matlock are both within easy reach,, and the Church Cafe on a Saturday and Sunday morning ie well worth a visit.

Lovely hidden away cottage for 2.

In great location for the Derwent valley and a number of heritage sites. Really comfortable and equipped with everything you need to self cater although there is also a pub on the doorstep (but out of sight). Will definitely consider again when staying in the area.

Well equipped property situated in an idyllic spot.

Cottage had everything we needed including some lovely goodies to get us settled. Summer house and patio in the lovely garden were added bonuses. Friendly pubs and well equipped shop within walking distance but should note down a steep hill. We had a lovely relaxing time and would throughly recommend The Dell.

Lovely comfortable well equipped and clean cottage.

The welcome basket and fresh flowers were a lovely touch. There are many walks from the door local and also the limestone way we didn’t use the car for 4 days. We also went to Hartington and Dove dale. The only negatives are the shower pressure is low and the road noise spoils what would be a peaceful location.

The Dell was stunning and had everything we needed for a wonderful stay. Comfortable, spotlessly clean, warm and beautifully decorated with fresh flowers and a lovely welcome pack on arrival. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. Thank you so much to Asa and Lisa who are great hosts. So wonderful to sit out in the garden and we loved the summer house.Just perfect. Quiet and peaceful, and wonderful walks from the door, we didn’t want to leave! See you next year!

I would wholly recommend The Dell as a rural getaway.

The house is comfortable, clean and well equipped, and its garden (and wider setting, of Winster and the Peak District) is a pleasure to spend time in. For walkers, the Limestone Way runs just a few hundred yards from the door, and the cafe at the top of the hill do a fantastic breakfast. You won't regret booking a visit.

The cottage is beautifully built with all the amenities and many extras anyone should need for a week or more away.

The heating is excellent and the location is central for many walks and a short drive to many breweries. The owners were wonderful and even rescued me from a muddy oops moment with my car for which I have forever grateful. In snow it is also a very lovely and cottage to just watch the world go by. I will definitely come back.

The cottage is very cosy and has everything you need.

It was very clean and warm when we arrived with a welcome pack which was very appreciated as it was getting dark by the time we’d unpacked to find out where the shop was. It is located at the end of the long driveway which is quite passable and a good location to get to Bakewell by car or bus. The bed is soft which was great for me but may not be everyone’s preference. I would say it was a little hard to find especially when you’re losing light and the keypad is difficult to see even when the external light comes on.

Beautifully clean and nicely laid out. Very quiet and tucked away down a private lane. We visited Bakewell and Buxton, both a short drive away. Was great just to chill in the cottage of an evening. Very cosy. Would certainly recommend!

The Dell is a such a superb cottage for two people.

Picturesque and quaint and ideally situated for all areas of the National Park. The accommodation was beautifully clean and fully equipped, lovely touch with the welcome pack and we would highly recommend. We will return ourselves at some point.

This stay ticked all the boxes, A great cottage in a peaceful setting with everything you could wish for your needs.

Obviously a lot of thought has been given to the immaculate decor and true character feel. On arrival a really good welcome selection of treats, a very nice touch. We had storm floris come through on our 2nd day, (yes in August!), but not a problem with the warm, comfortable accomodation. The village shop is excellent, well stocked with a variety of food and goodies along with a warm welcome. A great relaxing break.

As well as being set in beautiful surroundings, it was a great base for exploring the area and we found lots of great places to visit. The house was really clean and well maintained and suited all our needs, and the welcome goodies on arrival were much appreciated.

Spotlessly clean & very well equipped. Decorated for Christmas & a lovely welcome basket. We were here during storm Darragh & felt cosy, safe & warm. What a find!

The Dell was beautiful, immaculate and very well planned cottage which had everything. A lot of effort clearly shows. The owners were friendly and helpful, We felt they truly want you to have a great stay. The welcome pack was the best we have seen. Fresh flowers and treats This on top of walking in to a fabulous house. Just perfect. Well done all. The area was beautiful. We had many a meal and breakfast in the pub. The Miners Standard. The locals were lovely and the food a delight. We would highly recommend a stay. The grounds of the cottage were a delight. Autumn leaves,squirrels,birds and sheep as neighbours. It was just beautiful and tranquil . Thank you host's. We have already passed on to friends. Would love to return some day.

A wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage in a stunning setting .

The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a weeks stay at the Dell.The welcome pack and the fresh flowers were a lovely touch also. the village of Winster has a community shop which we found very useful and the minors standard pub at the back of the property was a proper pub good drink and food menu.we found the hosts and the pub regulars very friendly. The cottage is very central for Bakewell ,Buxton and all that the peak district has to offer and lovely walks to from the cottage itself. Thank you to our lovely hosts for the loan of the dell for a few days .We will definitely be back .

We enjoyed our stay at The Dell which we found to be reasonably spacious for a one bed cottage to the open plan kitchen living area on the ground floor with plenty of outside space.

The bathroom which is en suite to the bedroom was small but we managed. As the name suggests the property is positioned on a private plot away from the road surrounded by trees but we were fortunate to have taken our own outside chairs so could follow the sun during the day and in the evening. There was use of a pleasant summerhouse and outdoor furniture next to the premises to make the most of outside living. A short walk to one of the 2 pubs in the village which was a bonus. Situated in good walking area and would recommend for the location. Our only criticism hopefully constructive, is a better sign at the entrance as the property is not visible from the road, an ice tray for cool drinks and why provide only one toilet roll for 2 people for a week stay! We would recommend for a short stay or a week to enjoy the area.

The house is absolutely spotless and has everything you need for your stay. A welcome pack also awaits you when you arrive. It’s in an ideal setting for exploring the Peak District or just staying local to relax and enjoy the property. A pub, is a short walk behind The Dell that does food and now has a cafe where you can enjoy a good breakfast too. The owners are very approachable and welcoming. Will definitely be back again!

there are a lot of places to visit in the local area, Matlock, Bakewell and Cromford being just a few.

Property was outstanding, lovely grounds, took a bit of time to find it, for people reading reviews, turn left at the green then left again down the track :) Loved the welcome supplements, the pub across the road do lovely meals also

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the Dell.

The cottage is charming, well maintained and well equipped. We couldn't fault it at all. The welcoming goodies on arrival were much appreciated! The Dell is in a secluded position, yet central to many of the tourist attractions in the area. There is a pleasant outdoor area with a summer house which we made full use of in the warm weather. We would certainly consider visiting again.

Set in a beautiful location. Spotlessly clean. Decorated to a high standard. Fresh smelling bedding/towels. Welcome goodies on arrival, along with fresh flowers. It was a lovely place to stay the people in the village were welcoming a great base to explore from.

It is a walkers paradise.

When we arrived the heating was off and it was very cold.

No clear instructions as to how the heating was operated. A concise file with full details of“how to” for appliances, recycling and waste etc would be helpful. There were numerous user guides in the draw but a concise file would be better. We had to guess how to use the heating, electric stove was great though. We cannot fault the cleanliness, facilities or location. The cottage was great, loved the village and The Miners Standard for great beer and food. The Winster walk book was well used by us. We will definitely return loved it.

The cottage was very comfortable warm and clean.

It was well equipped. The shower was the only thing that let it down no pressure and kept going hot and cold.. The best thing about this cottage in my opinion was the location. With walks from the door.There was a pub 100 yards away .but once you were in the cottage you seemed miles from any where.

Lovely cottage with all we needed for a romantic time loved the goodies on arrival after 4 hour drive was good to be able to make tea.

We appreciated all the content provided by the owner. We enjoyed local walks. We also enjoyed the local shop.

On the whole The Dell served its holiday purpose quite well.

The area is basically surrounded by trees which is good but they do block out a degree of sunlight making the cottage interior a trifle dark.

Great cottage , clean with everything you will need made available including milk in fridge .

Only problem was getting up from the sofa it was far too low and difficult to get up from . Apart from this small problem everything else was A!.

The Dell is a secluded, well appointed holiday cottage.

It was the perfect location for exploring the local attractions. The cottage is well equipped, cosy and homely. Local pub is good for real ales and home cooked food. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again, can thoroughly recommend it.

Perfect in every way, cleanliness, lovely welcome pack which was much appreciated even the pretty flowers, Facilities and kitchen equipment were the best we've ever had, comfortable bed and storage space.

The shower was easy to use once you got used to it. A comfortable and imaginative living room with clean and pleasant decor. Plenty of useful information, books,dvd's and even a puzzle. Outside a cosy summer house and patio with table and chairs, large garden area also with table and bench giving broad and alternative sitting and viewing to listen to the birds, watch the wildlife and relax in a peaceful and scenic environment. What more could we have asked for, thank you Asa and Lisa

Fabulous setting !

!! The cottage is in a lovely little enclave with a lovely garden bordering a woody knoll which sheep came to sleep in at night very relaxing . Cottage very well equipped, and very cosy . It was strange not to have a bedroom door especially as I am an early riser so was unable to put the tv/ radio on until my husband woke up but we got used to it , we walked every day driving out to different locations , we ate once in the Miners Standard which was decent pub grub , second night we ordered a takeaway from the other pub the Bowling Green as the restaurant is currently not open but great to sit and have a few drinks in there and then go home with our takeaway , and our last night we went into Bakewell which was lovely , very relaxing stay in a lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful setting .

Electric shower still requires attention.

The Dell was perfect for the two of us, quiet and peaceful just how we like it .

The lovely country pub close by with good food and beer and friendly staff and locals was great. The location with local bus to Matlock and Bakewell was perfect for walking along Derwent River and Monsal Trail, we will be back sometime in the future . Thank you to the owners Lisa and Asa.

Fantastic stay at the Dell ,Winster.

Cottage exceeded our expectations so much so we didn't want to leave. The area had so many lovely places to explore . The Miners Standard was a friendly pub offering great pub grub , talk to the locals who will help you discover hidden gems in the area . Cottage was easy to find and key code worked brilliantly.

The location of The Dell is superb, my wife cried as it came into view.

The wild life kept us entertained in the evening. We were so impressed we are definitely booking again.

The Dell, Winster, Derbyshire 19th to 26th August 2022.

The cottage was lovely, clean and warm and ticked all the boxes we had, a local pub, off road parking, and a excellent community shop in the village of Winster. We had to leave the blinds down on the bedroom outside door as there is a public footpath that passes by the door, which people accessed by walking along the drive to the cottage, rather than the designated footpath. It wasn’t a problem but a bit of a surprise when a group of about 12 ramblers walked past on Saturday afternoon. Colin and Carole Wareing 29.8.2022

The Dell is a comfortable, clean, well equipped but not cluttered cottage.

In the kitchen there was even cupboard space to put your own food/dry goods which was nice, and unusual in our experience of holiday cottages where the cupboards are generally rammed with kitchen items your never likely to use. The iron blew whilst we were there and the owner turned up that evening with a brand new one. There are OS maps and books available in the cottage if you plan to do any of the numerous walks/rambles in the surrounding area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dell and it is ideally suited to exploring what the Peak District has to offer.

Great walks nearby and the pub, which is within stumbling distance has a great menu for veggies and meat eaters alike. The village is very quaint with another pub and a shop, which considering the size of the village had everything we needed. The place was spotless and the welcome basket was a nice touch. Will be back!

Great property in a lovely location.

Had some issues with the shower. It always seemed to be either too hot or too cold. You couldn’t really get it to a comfortable temperature.

The Dell is one of the best Sykes properties we have rented.

The cottage is a real home from home, cosy, well equipped and in lovely surroundings. The village of Winster is beautiful, and everyone we met was really friendly and helpful, with a great community spirit. Mr. Cooper has made sure that the Dell is very welcoming, with everything you could need, and nice touches, welcome pack and fresh flowers. We hope to return very soon.

We loved Winster and the position of the Dell was lovely but the setting amongst the tress was lovely.

Some road noise but on the whole totally idyllic setting. The cottage was one of the best supplied ones we have been in. There wasn’t anything that wasn’t supplied and everything wears spotless and such good quality. There was only one disadvantage which was there was no door on the bedroom and because my husband gets up around 4.30 am when her can’t sleep he couldn’t put a light on without disturbing me. It probably wouldn’t bother any other couple with normal sleep patterns or at least ones that matched!

Attention to detail was absolutely amazing.

Fantastic place to stay and highly recommend it. Lovely welcoming package was a real treat and very welcome extra.

Signage to cottage needs reviewing as its virtually impossible to see the footpath sign and we drove past it.

Ended up asking man who lives next door to pub,this is obviously a regular occurrence.Some concerns about side door glass window due to path running next to cottage. Also the ' steps' leading to the road are quite difficult and prehaps a note about these needs adding.

The cottage name is apt plus being quiet and peaceful and well situated in order to visit and explore the Peak/Dales District tourist area.

The cottage is very well equipped and tastefully decorated and furnished and found to be spotlessly clean. The Welcome Gift items were much appreciated - Thank you. Would certainly stay there again in the future.

2nd time we have stayed at this beautiful cottage.

Ideal for couples. Secluded. Beautiful surroundings. Local village shop stocks everything you would need. The Miners pub is a stones throw up some steps from the cottage. Lovely towns of Bakewell. Matlock and Matlock Bath are only 10mins drive from the cottage. The cottage itself is lovely. Decorated to a very high standard but still retaining the rustic cottage feel. Open plan kitchen and living room is spacious and warmly at night. Would highly recommend

The layout of the cottage functioned well and the quirky touches like the upstairs bedroom having a door to the outside, from which you could then walk back down a !little path and get back to the cottage front door downstairs. Would definitely recommend the cottage and the key collection process worked perfectly.

Lovely cottage very clean.

We had a lovely week very good base lots of walking on your doorstep. Bathroom a little small for us but apart from that it was lovely.

My partner and I stayed at the Dell from 21st till 28th June and found it spotlessly clean and comfortable, It had everything we needed although we felt it could do with a shelf in the shower for soap and shampoo, but apart from that it was excellent.

The owners left us a delicious sponge cake, packet of biscuits and flowers which is a lovely touch. We had a lovely week and would recommend visiting Chatsworth House which is gorgeous. We thoroughly recommend the Dell.

We spent a week in the Dell and loved it despite the awful weather.

Never stayed in such a beautiful spotlessly clean cottage in such beautiful surroundings. We enjoyed watching the family of squirrels and the pheasants in the garden in a morning, and boy, could the squirrels shift the peanuts we fed them! We also very much appreciated the welcome gifts of cake,biscuits and milk etc. They were really enjoyed. We certainly would recommend a break in the Dell to anyone.

The cottage is in a beautiful setting.

It’s isolated but within easy access to the village which makes it an ideal romantic setting. Inside is immaculate and has everything you need. The homemade cake, biscuits, milk with tea and coffee was a lovely touch, as were the flowers. Everything to make it a home from home. Would definately recommend.

The Dell cottage is in very picturesque spot even the winter we were there later November.

It feels very isolated and private in its position but being only a couple of minutes to a friendly pub and shop. I would highly recommend this cottage for a short or long break break it’s postion is ideal for tourist and ramblers a like

Lovely little cottage, very well appointed, in a beautiful setting close to local amenities, would love to actually live here permanently.

lovely to arrive at cottage to find a welcome basket to enable us to settle in. The home baked Victoria sponge was to die for!

Even though our let was only for a weekend, the owners had left a delicious sponge, milk and biscuits for us on arrival and placed a vase of flowers on the coffee table.

A nice touch. We felt truly welcome.

This property was one of the best we have ever stayed in.

It was spotless and clean and the added extras on arrival were a fantastic surprise. Homemade cake, fresh flowers, a tea tray all laid out with a packet of biscuits, a pint of milk and ice cubes in the freezer! It had everything we needed and more. The only thing I would say was that we had an email with the owners mobile number on to contact for the keysafe code which we left until the last minute, our fault, so I had to ring your customer service on the way. They were very helpful and gave me the number straight away as I couldn't get hold of the owner as signal is not always available. I would suggest that to make it easier if you know the code number then send it with the directions and the other info? The owner did also get back to me later on and was very helpful.

We were very impressed by this lovely cottage.

It has everything you could possibly need. The large cake they had left for us was the best we have ever tasted. (Victoria sponge}. There were fresh flowers, and even a pint of milk in the fridge, and tea coffee & sugar to get us started. The area is central for lots of lovely walks, and the scenery was lovely. Lots of history in the village. would come again.

Very well situated - secluded and private setting on outskirts of picturesque village but close to many places of interest in lovely area. High-quality cottage, well equipped and beautifully decorated.

'The Dell' was exceptionally clean and well presented.

I would also like to add that there were a number of 'nice touches' (such as a home made Victoria Sponge awaiting us). I would thoroughly recommend this property.

The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard.

It was spotlessly clean with everything provided including maps and pamphlets etc. Thoughtful extras by Mr & Mrs COOPER by way of home made cake, flowers etc. Other Holiday Home owners could learn from their example. It is in a quiet and peaceful location on the edge of a lovely village. The nearest local pub just two minutes walk from the door. Many walks from the cottage and nearby. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We felt that the cottage was very well located for visiting the surrounding attractions such as Dovedale, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth.

Fantastic cottage.

Secluded but not isolated. A lovely garden where we sat in the sunshine and watched the birds and squirrels. The cottage is spotlessly clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished with a well equipt kitchen and a small but modern bathroom. The owner went out of her way to make us welcome with beautiful home made cakes, fresh flowers and biscuits. We have stayed in many cottages all over the British Isles, usually through Sykes and we are used to the high standards set by this company however, this has been the best.

I enjoyed everything apart from the lack of places to eat in Winster.

There was only one pub where food might have been available but we chose to drive to Bakewell as that pub didn`t seem very inviting.This meant no glass of wine with my meal unfortunately !!!! .Otherwise loved the break. john
