Thank you Debbie and David for a lovely week in your superb accommodation in ‘The Barn’.

Our hosts were welcoming and helpful, but in no way obtrusive. The property was clean, with good storage, and provided everything we needed for our stay. The bed was very comfortable and the hot water system was extremely efficient as well as being environmentally friendly. The outside seating space was great for relaxing and soaking up the spectacular view. Parking was fine, though the surrounding roads were ‘interesting’. Luckily there’s not a lot of traffic on the surrounding narrow lanes. We found plenty to occupy us, both with beautiful walking and property visits, and many good pubs in the area. Overall, this was one of the best properties we have stayed in - well worth the top score given. We would definitely recommend a stay in The Barn. David and Catharine. June, 2026

A wonderful little cottage with fantastic views of the South Pennine moors from the double patio doors.

A very peaceful and relaxing place to stay to unwind and enjoy the countryside. Easy access to Sowerby Bridge, Hebden Bridge and Halifax. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone wishing to get away from the rat race of modern society.

This is a little gem of a place.

Glorious views over Calderdale, even in the rain and hail! I also saw deer nearly every day.It's a great place for walking but I just needed to rest, helped by a very comfortable bed. David and Debbie were very helpful and their pussycats friendly. The kitchen is a bit limited but not a problem if you come prepared. Nice welcoming touches too. Would definitely recommend.

Very spacious and the hosts were lovely , you only had to ask if you needed anything. A great place to stay for a chilling getaway.

We had a lovely relaxing break at The Barn.

It was comfortable and clean. There are limited kitchen appliances but because we knew that from the description and previous reviews, we planned meals accordingly and had no problems at all. The air fryer was great and very clean and there is a toaster as well as a microwave. The shower was very powerful and plenty warm enough - you do need to lay towels on the floor to avoid it becoming too wet but there are plenty of towels provided so it isn’t a problem. We didn’t meet the hosts in person but they kept in touch and were kind and attentive. They provided a small bottle of milk, 2 small cans of tonic water and 2 cans of beer in the fridge when we arrived, plus biscuits and small bottles of both gin and whiskey which was very welcome. They also kindly gritted/salted the road and driveway on the morning we left as there had been snow overnight. We purposely had a slow, relaxing holiday so can’t comment too much on local attractions but the accommodation was perfect. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had such a lovely stay at this cottage in Yorkshire.

The location was remote and peaceful, with amazing views of the countryside, yet still close enough to a good range of shops and takeaways when needed. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated, and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the welcome drinks and snacks, and the vase of fresh flowers. Lots of essentials were provided too (washing up liquid, cloths, soap, etc.), which made our stay much easier. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the dining table was a great size. The kitchen area was a little limited but well-equipped for what we needed – there’s no hob or oven, but with the coffee machine, kettle, microwave, and especially the air fryer (with liners provided!) we managed just fine. Fridge space was very good, though the freezer is quite small, which is worth noting for longer stays. The TV worked perfectly, and it was fantastic having Netflix and Disney+ to watch. The armchairs were fine but not particularly comfortable for lounging on or getting cosy. The bathroom was modern and clean, though the wet-room style meant that the floor got quite wet after showers, so we had to use extra towels and keep showers short. Linens and spare towels were generously provided, which helped. Parking was excellent too; the space outside fit our long car easily without sticking into the (very quiet) road. The local walks were lovely, and we’d recommend a trip to Hebden Bridge and to Haworth – pottery painting at Cobbles + Clay was a highlight. The hosts, David and Debbie, were always a quick message away. They checked in on us but also allowed us to feel completely private and remote. Overall, this is a beautiful property in a stunning location – relaxing, cosy, and full of thoughtful touches. We’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful Yorkshire getaway!

Very pleasant accommodation for two with excellent views across the valley.

The cottage was beautiful, very comfortable and immaculate.

The view was great and we spent a great deal time on the patio where we saw deers and hares. Lovely trips over the moors and dales. Craggies farm shop spot on for breakfast. A DREAM HOLIDAY.

The Barn at Crown Hall Shaw Farm is a fantastic location, really quiet and a great view but still handy for local attractions.

David and Debbie thought of everything, with lots of lovely little extras. They could not have been more helpful with information prior to and during the stay.

We've absolutely loved our stay, the place is so unique and we fell in love with the layout, stonework and little details like the honey extractor.

Location is gorgeous and the morning coffee view (with the delicious coffee from the machine) is a fabulous touch. Beautifully clean and well equipped. We're not drinkers but we really appreciated the little gifts in the cupboard. Our go to if we're ever back in the area. Thank you so much!

Great pubs and great walks! We can't say thank you enough to the hosts who were so welcoming and made such a great effort to make sure we had a lovely stay - thoughtful supplies and treats, fresh flowers, and even easter eggs and a gift for our baby by the door on Easter Sunday. We'll definitely come back - the bed was extremely comfortable, the shower powerful and the kitchen well equipped, we loved how spacious it all felt, and we could gaze at the view all day! Lovely hosts who provided little extras milk, beer flowers etc.

Idyllic setting with lots of wildlife to see especially the deer in the morning and evening. We were fortunate to have glorious weather so made good use of the outdoor area. The only downside was lack of cupboard space to store breakfast cereals etc.

the owners where lovely and attentive without overstepping and provided everything you could need whilst your away, we where very pleased as this was our first holiday together and this really added to having a wonderful experience for us, thank you again xx

A wonderful place to stay.

The barn has been beautifully renovated. The views are stunning and can be enjoyed whatever the weather thanks to the double glass doors which open out onto the terrace. The owners are kind, friendly and welcoming, leaving you to enjoy the property but also letting you know they are there if you need anything. Welcome treats a lovely touch. Great walks from the door and also just a short drive to many great places to visit. The perfect escape.

Beautiful location although we were out and about on the days we stayed it would be a perfect stay, to just take a book, enjoy the view, the peace and tranquility and relax the accommodation and facilities were great for our stay many thanks Gillian and John

I felt so welcomed and also my space was completely respected. The hosts were great and the finishing touches made it even more special. The view is magnificent and the cottage comfy and cozy, I would love to stay here again.

If your looking for peace and quiet where you can literally hear a pin drop, you can't go wrong.

Waking up to nature on your doorstep and the fabulous views was fantastic plus on a clear night makes star gazing great as there's little light pollution. Dave and Debbie are very welcoming and you only need to ask if you need anything.

We had a very enjoyable time at The Barn at Crow Hill Shaw Farm.

The area is picturesque and with the changes in light the views are constantly changing. We had visits daily by the Wrens which live in the garden and saw the Barn Owls in the evenings. Towards the end of the week the Peacock paid us a visit on the patio and was on the roof when we left. The Barn is an ideal location for walking and cycling holidays due to very little traffic on the plentiful country lanes which seem to lead to a cafe or pub. On our last day we visited the secret cafe and would highly recommend a visit.

Definitely the best hosts we've met. The property was exactly what we were looking for. Very comfortable and so peaceful. Amazing view with so much wildlife to see and enjoy. We had all the amenities that we needed and everything was spotless. We were welcomed with fresh flowers, milk and 2 bottles of lager in the fridge and even small bottles of gin and whisky Apart from the rain I can definitely say this was one of our most favourite places to stay. We LOVE the peacock.

Wanted to see it but only heard it. We throughly loved the place and enjoyed watching the deer and hare frolicking in the fields. Thank you for the pleasant experience

Our 7 day stay at Crow Hill Shaw Farm was very relaxing.

Apart from natural noises such as the birds, were the only noise present. The South facing window is like lookiing into a painting which changes with the weather environment.Various birds were seen but the main reward was spoting a Deer in the nearest field to the Barn,we kept still, and watched it feeding for about half an hour.Bed was comfortable,water hot, heating just right,comfort and welcome gifts10 out of 10.All in all a very laid bck holiday with plenty to view in the district if required.. I recomend and Thankyou.

5* - a super cottage with stunning rural views, comfy bed, super shower, boutique shower gel and a whole host of goodies… flowers, fruit bowl, milk, home made jam, and a complimentary sample of speciality gin and whisky!

We saw deer, hares and the local barn owl. There were 2 nearby pubs and a whole host of local sights - who knew Calderdale was so stunning!

Lovely Barn with great views, owners were always available to advise on the local area.

I loved my week at the little barn and enjoyed the facilities and the location immensely.

Lovely walks to be had and easy to get to local towns and places of interest . The barn was very clean and had everything provided to make my stay enjoyable . The owners were very helpful and thoughtful and it was reassuring to know they were around if I needed help.The welcome items left for me were a pleasant surprise . I will return to the property and look forward to it in the near future . Sue

Got talking to the owners of the property saying why we staying for the dates we did and went out their way and got us a wedding anniversary card and gift.

Lovely clean and quiet little place. Somewhere to relax and enjoy the stunning views. Next time spend longer as a couple days isn’t long to see all the sites.Well worth a visit. Thank you Debbie and David for a lovely welcome.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the barn.

Everything was clean and comfortable. The only thing I would add is for some hooks in the bathroom for dressing gowns/ towels etc. A very minor point but easy to address. Would highly recommend for some peace and quiet but also within easy reach of the bigger towns and cities.

Really nice weekend away, we both loved the view and how peaceful it was.

Had everything we needed there and to make it even more memorable, we got engaged there too. Would definitely come back again and recommend it to friends and family. Thank you very much.

Great place to sit back and relax, watch the wildlife and chill out.

Everything you need for a short stay is provided and the welcome pack is amazing. One thing that is required is a pair silicon tongs for use with the air fryer. We were treated to Kestrels, buzzards, deers, bats, barn owl and hares, great to watch from the patio. We went for a rest and tranquility, we got it in abundance! Plenty of beautiful places of interest close by so it makes it a great base to explore the local area. 10 out of 10, we would definitely go again.

A wonderful stay….

yes the cottage is remote but that in our opinion anyway is to its advantage. We loved the peace and quiet! The views from the terrace out over the farmland was spectacular and we were entertained each evening by a beautiful Barn Owl hunting for his supper. So, if you like peace and quiet and a beautiful outlook this is a well set up spot for you to enjoy and also to be able to step out from the cottage on a myriad of trails.

We thought that the 2 seater sofa was uncomfortable, as the infill, in the seat cushions and rear cushions, was degraded and did not hold their shape.

Cottage is beautifully kitted out, and was in a very scenic location.

It was lovely to arrive to the extras of breakfast, fruit and g&t. The fresh flowers were a nice touch. I drive a pick up truck and I could easily get in parking space and off the road. Would definately recommend a stay here.
