Just returned from a wonderful week at Bowshaw.

It's a lovely property, well-furnished with modern, top quality fixtures & fittings in perfect order and spotlessly clean throughout. It's a real home-from-home with everything you need - we wanted for nothing. We really appreciated the welcoming gifts and the friendliness & advice from the owner, Jeremy. His advice to use Uber was invaluable! Hade Edge is a small, quiet village with an excellent pub and farm shop. We walked into Holmfirth a few times - 45 mins downhill on the main road or about an hour or so if you take a more scenic route along footpaths & lanes. In Holmfirth (a bustling attractive town) we ate at So Dough (perfect pizzas) and had the best Indian meal we'd had in a long time in Bengal Spice just outside town. We also walked to Holme via Dobb Dike which was a real highlight - stunning views. We were so sad to leave and hope to return in the future. Thank you Jeremy for a truly memorable holiday!

Lovely cottage, clean and smelled divine when you walked in.

Loved the fresh flowers crisps, milk, biscuits, mints very nice touch. Supplied everything needed home from home. Jeremy was very kind to bring us an extra fan as it was so hot, very kind and informative, responsive. Walks on your doorstep, mum and I love dovestone resivour which was 20 mins away. Plenty of small supermarkets in holmfirth. Beds were very comfortable, shower was great. We really enjoyed our stay thanks Jeremy. Would highly recommend this cottage. Thanks Sarah and Mum xx

The accommodation is excellent; clean well equipped and a perfect location for a walking holiday. Jeremy is a perfect host, genuinely caring that guests have a great holiday, which we did, again! Highly recommended.

The accomodation was very clean and well equipped, the welcome package was excellent, I would say the property was excellent no problems, ideally placed for places to visit, the local pub excellent food and drink

Also what a wonderful welcome with a vase of flowers, milk, and other goodies from Jeremy the owner who was readily available for any queries. I have already booked again for August and look forward to returning.

The property is beautifully situated and tastefully decorated and furnished.

It was a very comfortable stay for us despite the snow. The cottage has all you need for a restful relaxing holiday. And if you're adventurous there are walks nearby and places to visit.

Bowshaw is a warm and cosy place to stay.

Everything we needed was provided and we were very comfortable. Fantastic walks from the doorstep in all directions without taking the car and walkable into Holmfirth in under an hour. The host is thoughtful and responsive. I would highly recommend a stay here - we would definitely love to return in the future.

What a great little place.

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay & so quiet. Great location, close to Holmfirth & Holme Valley walks. Even better, a pub & farm shops just around the corner!!

Bowshaw holiday cottage was a super place to stay clean and well equipped.

Idealy placed to visit places in the Peak District in the future we may stop there again to visit north of the cottage in Yorkshire.

We had a lovely stay in this very comfortable and clean accommodation and we look forward to returning soon.

We have just returned home after a lovely 4 nights stay at Bowshaw.

We have had the best time away. The house is lovely, very clean and a home from home. It had everything we needed, all the essentials were provided and the crisps, milk and cookies left for us were an added bonus! Jeremy was fantastic and provided us with all the information we needed, from places to visit to places to eat. His communication was brilliant. It is also a stones throw away from a lovely pub and not far from Holmfirth with lots of places to eat and drink. It is a perfect base to explore and we all thoroughly enjoyed our break away. So much so, none of us wanted to come home!! Don't hesitate to book this little gem, you won't be disappointed. Thank you and we hope to return in the future

One of the best equipped cottages I have stayed in

This "starter home" is set in a wonderful position high above Holmfirth on a small estate.

There are plenty of good walks in the immediate area and beyond. Open moorland is just a 15 minute walk away with nearby deep forest trails and many reservoirs. 12 mile drive to the Pennine Way at Crowden. In Holmfirth there are hourly buses to Huddersfield and Bradford. Holmfirth is famous for Last of the Summer Wine and there are many places in the town to discover relating to that programme. Incidentally, Barry and Glenda's house is very close to Bowshaw on a neighbouring small estate off the Dunford Road. Holmfirth has a co-op, Sainsbury local and a little out of the centre, an Aldi and a Lidl. Bowshaw was very comfortable with everything I needed for a weeks stay. The one negative was the size of the fridge. I found it too small to store a weekly shop of fresh fruit and veg. But I am vegetarian and so eat a lot of vegetables!

A clean and comfortable place to stay.

Like a home from home. It had everything we needed and the owner was welcoming and helpful. Great location for exploring the area and great to be able to walk from the door. It was a lovely stay, would definitely recommend.

Fabulous holiday accommodation, very clean, stylish and comfortable.

Everything supplied to make it feel home from home. The area itself is great for walking, Holme Moss, Digley Reservoir, Trans Pennine Trail from Dunford Bridge, local walks around Hade Edge, many miles covered on foot, we even managed to squeeze in a visit to the Wentworth Estate and The National Coal Mining Museum and popped by the Emley Moor Tower. Thank you Jeremy for a lovely place to stay, would highly recommend.

A lovely little home from home. It is in a really beautiful area of Yorkshire. Holmfirth is literally just down the road and of course we had to have a coffee and teacake at Sid's cafe. We loved the drive across the moors, the views were really outstanding. We would not hesitate to book this lovely little cottage again!

A very comfortable week here in this lovely clean & well equipped house.

A quiet and peaceful cul-de-sac location with great view of nearby reservoir from the bedroom window. Superb walking country all around; a week is not long enough to do it justice! Would book again without hesitation, highly recommended.

Jeremy was extremely nice and helpful and the house was lovely and comfortable, I recommend it 100% it’s very cosy and in a very nice area, there’s everything you need in the kitchen e.

I stayed in this small but lovely cottage for three nights over Christmas 2024, while I was enjoyed a family Christmas a short distance away.

This is an exceptional cottage, a perfect "bolt hole" from a possibly over-heated family gathering. It is warm, comfortable, and very clean - and everything works! Jeremy, the owner was very attentive and helpful. Should a similar situation arise in the future, I will return.

This how was lovely very clean and cozy, we definitely want to stay again, Jeremy was lovely, there was everything we needed when we arrived.

Great holiday in a lovely property.

It was exactly as listed. There was everything you needed for a self catering break. It was very clean and well presented . The host Jeremy contacted us a couple of times to check everything was okay and we even had an early check in and a late check out which was great. The local pub the Bowshaw trout was a friendly place and the food was excellent . Would highly recommend this property and woukd stay there again in the future.

Everything was clean and well equipped. 5 minute drive into town with plenty of parking available. Jeremy was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Would highly recommend to anyone who would like a quiet getaway.

A beautiful cottage set in amazing scenery.

The cottage contained everything required for a pleasant holiday. It was immaculately cleaned and the owner could not be more helpful with complementary arrival products and much much more. What a little gem and the price made it the best value we have had with Sykes cottages. With Jeremy the owner living close by and calling to see us before we left was a nice touch. Will definitely be returning. Thanks for everything.

Bowshaw was a clean, comfortable, relaxing base with all the amenities you would need for your stay.

The property had easy access to explore the surrounding areas. The host was easily accessible and friendly. View from windows was a bonus. We would recommend a stay to anyone wanting the above.

Lovely cottage on the edge of the Peak District.

The house was comfortable with considered facilities. Met our needs for a short break away from it all. The property owner was incredibly helpful and a great host, leaving milk and tea/coffee and biscuits for us on arrival. Good information on local area and recommendations. Feedback would be upgrade of pillows and a mirror in the spare room and perhaps a few coat hangers. Otherwise everything was perfect.

Bowshaw is a lovely, peaceful, comfortable cottage in a beautiful area with some wonderful local walks and near to the small town of Holmfirth. The cottage has had everything we needed and the owner has been very helpful. Highly recommended

What an absolute gem!

We stayed for a couple of days in total comfort. The cottage is wonderfully quiet, clean, airy and light with lovely views over the local area and is really thoughtfully and well equipped. The owner also left it well stocked with essentials for our stay. It even comes with a superb pub just a short walk away. What’s not to like? Definitely recommended and would happily book again

Very nice.

Just outside Holmfirth but within easy reach- a couple of miles maybe - and only a few minutes walk from the pub. All the facilities in good condition. Parking is right outside for anyone driving a rationally-propotioned vehicle. No regrets about choosing to stay here.
