I have absolutely 0 complaints about our stay, the accommodation was very warm and cozy, had everything we needed, along gorgeous views of the Holme Valley.

We had plans to return again because we loved it so much and felt so welcome. Untill getting a message about how we left the property, we spent every waking minute of the morning of checkout cleaning up, trying to clean it as much as we could, we even looked back before checking out to make sure we didnt leave any rubbish behind, and looked back before leaving to see if we left any rubbish behind and we saw nothing, and then getting a message a week after leaving being told we arent allowed back because of “how we left the property” with 0 explanation is ridiculous, especially after spending all morning cleaning the place as best as we could. We deserved an explanation. And also getting told all rules particularly smoking and vaping should be followed, we followed them. My friend came to visit and and blew vape smoke outside and after being told to fully go outside, we did. We tried our best to be good guests, we followed every rule, cleaned up, we were respectful, tried leaving the property as clean as possible. And because of a deep clean that was needed for a reason we dont know cause we never got an explanation, we arent allowed back. No warning or anything, just a straight up ban. The whole outcome of this situation is ridiculous and unfair! And we do not appreciate being made out to be messy or dirty people. Your properties were our go to and now we cant come back for a reason we got no explanation for, which we deserved. And this whole situation completely ruined our plans for April and the coming months. We do not appreciate this at all, and we have been really really let down by all this. Thank you so much for the stay though, it was nice whilst we were allowed there. Though we wouldve appreciated a different way around it all other than a straight up ban.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Shearer's Hut.

It's in a great location with easy access to lots of walking routes and also nearby towns and villages with lots of friendly pubs and other hospitality. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The overall size is quite small and the accommodation has been arranged to favour the bedroom area which was great but at a slight detriment to the living/kitchen area which is very small. If you are self-catering, there is only a microwave, toaster and kettle, so no hob or oven. Maybe a combi microwave or small oven with a hob on top would give more options, but there were so many eating establishments within a short distance (including a lovely pub just across the road) this isn't too much of an issue. The only other slight issue we found was a constant low frequency hum, most likely from either the underfloor heating or electrics. During the day this was barely audible but at night was quite noticeable. There are a couple of other holiday lets at the same location and the owners also live there and are on hand if you have any issues. Very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.

Friendly owner and quaint property that was tastefully decorated.

There were milk, prosseco and fizzy water in the fridge on our arrival which was a pleasant surprise. There are also a couple of games suitable for two people. Minimal road noise so we had quiet nights sleep. We would have liked to have a music channel on in the background whilst we got ready to go out but unfortunately the Tv had no channels tuned and the radio was ornamental, so didn't work. Also the bins directly outside were filthy & smelt a little bit. Overall due to the quirkiness of the place and the location we would recommend a short stay.
