Gorgeous comfortable clean cottage with anything and everything you could possibly need for us and also our little dog.

Main bed very comfortable, on suite very small but we used the main bathroom which has an over bath rain shower which was lovely. After our walking it was so nice to come back to the cottage to cook dinner and cosy down in front of the very warm log burner. 1 lot of logs to use, extra at a very good price of £7 per bag. Money to be put in honesty box. Wonderful views from every window. Secure garden for my little dog. Parking area good. Footpaths in every direction, although they are up and down hills, so be prepared. Also not very well sign posted so look for the stiles or make use of the OS map. Thank you so much Janice for the milk, Drinks, Chocolates and Peggy’s biscuits. We had a wonderful stay. Would definitely return but probably won’t as we like to visit different ares of Yorkshire.

Immaculate, clean & comfortable. There is nothing the owners haven't thought of, so well equipped, had everything we needed for our stay & more. Welcome basket full of goodies was a lovely surprise on our arrival, very much appreciated. Totally dog friendly, they even provided dog beds, bowls & blankets for our 2 dogs, so thoughtful. Stunning location with views over Holmfirth, lovely to sit on the patio & enjoy the location. Neighbours were very friendly too. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage in a beautiful part of the UK. The cottage was lovely with every comfort considered.

Welcome pack included which even had treats and beds for our golden retrievers. Having ensuite in the main bedroom was appreciated. Heated drying rack was very useful. Lots of walks and places to visit to take you all back to 'last of the Summer Wine!'

We booked a last minute Mon- Fri stay at Wells Cottage and had the most brilliant stay.

Despite us booking last minute the owners went out of their way to contact us and ensure all details and arrangements for our stay were in place. This attention to detail, like a bed and treats for our greyhound really made the stay. The house itself is stunning, so well appointed that you feel like you're staying in a home rather than a holiday cottage. The views were incredible and there was so much to explore right on the doorstep. Spoke a little to the neighbours and they were absolutely lovely too. All in all a 5* break and we would definitely recommend a stay here to anyone.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Wells Cottage and would not hesitate to return or to recommend it to others. The owners were lovely and the attention to detail in the cottage itself was fabulous. We loved the welcome pack, and so did our dog! Wells Cottage is very well equipped, clean, beautifully decorated and the garden is just the right size to relax and chill out in after a busy day of hiking in the hills. Thoroughly recommended.

Welcome pack exceptional, both for us and our dog. We were at the cottage in the recent heat wave, so my only small niggle was that there wasn’t any shade in the garden - but that couldn’t be helped .

What an amazing home from home.

They have thought of everything for humans and their dogs alike. We loved Wells Cottage and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stay in the Yorkshire countryside. There are lots of beautiful walks on the doorstep and within a 10 minute car journey. We've stayed in holiday cottages for many years now, Wells Cottage is the best one we have found.

The cottage was perfect for our family of 6 adults.

The property is situated in a peaceful location (the loudest sound we heard was the Song Thrush) with fabulous views down the valley and over Holmfirth. The cottage was extremely well equipped with every detail thought of which meant we wanted for nothing. The complimentary hamper was generous and delightful, and very much enjoyed by all. We were blessed with good weather, but if this wasn't the case, we would have been quite happy hunkering down at Wells Cottage: there was plenty of comfortable seating and space for all 6 to chill. We had a fabulous time exploring the area and could quite happily have stayed for longer. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Lovely character cottage with stunning views over the valley and good parking.

Very well equipped cottage, the owners had thought of everything for guests and dogs. Generous welcome hamper including dog treats. Would highly recommend, although please be aware the approach to the cottage is up a steep single track road, luckily we never met any vehicles coming the other way.

One of the best, if not the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in!

Perfect hosts who have thought of everything for their guests comforts. A very kind extra was a welcome hamper, and milk in the fridge, which we very much appreciated. The accommodation is excellent, they haven't missed a thing. Kitchen fully stocked with everything you might need, comfortable sofa, blankets for snuggling up with. 3 double bedrooms with exceptionally comfortable beds, and beautifully decorated. Everything has been thought of for 4 legged friends and their humans. The honesty box for extra fire wood and kindling is also very convenient and thoughtful.

The accommodation was excellent. Position was ideal with easy access into Holmfirth and access to fields and lanes for walking Mac. The cottage was clean,comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed sitting in the lovely secure garden with fantastic views down the valley. Visits to Saddleworth and, surprisingly, Halifax was a bonus. The week was to short. We will have to come again...

We had a great short break in this cottage !

It was perfect for our needs as a couple in our 50s with parents and our teenage daughter and 2 dogs . The house had everything we needed and the welcome basket was a cute touch . Dogs appreciated their treats . The weather was super cold , but the Cottage felt so cosy . Great base for walks in the area . Hosts were super helpful. Would book again . Thanks Leah C

The property was welcoming and clean, very well equipped with everything you could need and more. The little extra touches and detail contributed to a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. A good base to explore the area and nice walks around the cottage itself. We would definitely recommend a stay at this lovely cottage!

The owners have thought of everything including the secure dog friendly garden and dog wash to the wonderful welcome pack,this is a wonderful place to stay.

Even getting snowed in for two days the owners made sure we were ok and had everything we needed. We will visit again and can’t recommend it highly enough.

We came to Wells Cottage for Christmas 2025.

The welcome hamper was lovely, we all enjoyed the snacks and drinks, we even got Doggy treats! The whole cottage was very well presented and equipped for everything. We cooked a Christmas dinner in the kitchen with no issues, it really was home from home, with sharp knives and decent cookware, which is important for us as we cooked at the cottage every day. The beds were comfy and the cottage was really warm, despite very cold temperatures when we visited. Views were lovely and the location was really peaceful, just what we wanted. We would highly recommend this cottage and will definitely consider returning in the future.

A cosy, spacious and very well appointed cottage in a lovely location on the hills above Holmfirth.

Good parking and lovely dog walks from the door and a great space to spend a few days. The small enclosed garden was great for the dogs and the views across the valley here stunning. Great communications from the owner - we’ll be back!

We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely property.

The owners have thought of everything to make sure you have a lovely stay. There was a power cut when we arrived, but the owners had worked hard to make sure we were ok, by providing torches and extra wood for a fire. The property was spotlessly clean and made so comfortable, it really was a home-from-home. Having the enclosed front garden was a bonus with 2 dogs. Again, the owners had thought of the dogs and provided treats, bowls and beds for them. Our welcome hamper was also amazing. Loved hearing the tawny owl at night. We really had a 5* stay.

Girls weekend break at Wells cottage was so good.

Lovely cosy cottage. The kitchen is so well equipped, everything you can think of there's even an air fryer Spotlessly clean. Lovely welcome pack Great views. The taxi service was really good too, only a 20 minute walk to holmfirth centre, but with the dark nights was good to easily get one.There were torches and umbrellas provided though Thank you for a lovely stay Janice, you do a great job

Lovely place to stay for our short trip to Yorkshire.

The owners have thought of everything you could possibly need whilst away from home. Good directions to the cottage made it easy enough to find even in the dark. Welcome box of goodies a lovely touch, we enjoyed the chocolate whilst the dog enjoyed a treat too.

We have stayed at many properties with Sykes and this is by far one of the best.

The cottage has plenty of space but still keeps a cosy element. The kitchen is very well equipped, read the notes around the room to find everything. There was a lovely welcome pack, the chocolates are delicious and we find the little chocolate shop in town and bought more. There is an array of birds to watch from the neat little garden, that is extended by the beautiful scenery. It was so nice we didn't want to leave the property but there are some lovely walks right from your doorstep. The owner Janice was very helpful and patient about my idiocies. We had a lovely meal at The Bridge, the staff were brilliant. I would highly recommend this but don't want everyone going and us not being able to book again!

We have just returned from a wonderful bank holiday weekend at Wells Cottage.

Beautifully decorated and thoughtfully equipped, everything from the overflowing welcome basket to a dog bed, bowls and treats for our dogs were lovely touches and much appreciated. Plenty of space for 6 adults and 2 dogs, great walks on the doorstep, and stunning views made our stay all the more memorable. Highly recommend Harvey’s Bar & Kitchen & Pickled Pheasant for food and The Picturedrome for live music and a really fun night out. Thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay at Wells Cottage.

It is spacious and comfortable and very welcoming. Thank you for the wine, chocolates and dog treats, they were a lovely touch! The kitchen was spacious and very well equipped which made cooking a lot easier. The beds and pillows were comfortable and we slept well after all the walking in the beautiful countryside. We went to the Farmers Arms nearby and had a delicious Thai meal and also the Pickled Pheasant which was good too. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Wonderful cottage, lovely quiet spot.

Cottage decorated beautifully with interesting pieces around the house. Games and books provided for wet or lazy days. Kitchen was a delight to work in and well stocked with quality cookware, pans etc. I could have stayed for another month at least ! Lovely welcome basket provided and milk in the fridge - ready for a well needed cuppa on arrival. Would definitely recommend. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We had a few wonderful days in Holmfirth at the beginning of April 2025.

Fortunately, we had good weather the whole time and thus were able to enjoy the area. After our explorations, we always enjoyed returning to Wells Cottage. The cottage was like a home away from home for us. It is lovingly furnished and thoughtfully practical, ensuring we really lacked nothing. Thank you to the operators of the cottage. You have truly done a great job. We hope that one day we can come back - and then for longer.

Our second visit to Wells Cottage, we loved it so much the first time!

Excellent attention to detail throughout and impecably maintained. We love the fact that there is open countryside literally from the door so you could be out all day in the stunning scenery and come back to this comfortable home from home. Or spend time in the garden watching the world go by below (our dog in particularly loved to do this, specially at night!)

The owners had provided us with some lovely treats for our stay, for us and for our dogs which was a lovely touch. The cottage itself was charming, quirky, well equipped and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and had several dog walks into Holmfirth and surrounding area from the doorstep. We will definitely stay again !

An amazing cottage on the outskirts of Holmfirth.

Around 20 min walk to the centre. Lots of walks in the countryside on the door step. Pets allowed. The cottage is roadside on a narrow, very quiet lane. The cottage is extremely well prepared with an amazing goodie pack on arrival. Very clean, good internet connection, nice comfortable beds, lots of room. A bonus is the boot room, so if you are muddy, or the dog is, you can clean down. We would most definitely stay again, highly recommend. PS - Hosts are great, always respond to any last minute changes / queries

Wells Cottage is exceptional.

In 30+ years and 100+ cottages, this has been the best stay we've had. The level of detail and quality in the layout, furnishings, equipment and welcome is astonishing. Think of something you might need and the owners will have thought of it, included it to a high standard and then thought of any additional "what if" items. It's the level of care and consideration to making your stay do comforyable that takes this accommodation well into the "above and beyond" category. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This is one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed in.

The overall quality and condition of everything was excellent and the owners seemed to have planned for every eventuality. The garden was properly secure for our two terrier-sized dogs and one of them loved the view over the valley so much he would sit for hours just watching the world below him. The "wash room" at the back was invaluable for muddy dogs as well as human muddy boots and was an added extra that we've never come across before but was so useful and well equipped. The variety of walks from the doorstep was great (although you do need to like hills and a couple of challenging stiles). The views from the house over the valley were especially lovely as we were there during bonfire night/week so got a display just about every night. Views from the walks behind/above the house were spectacular over the hills/valleys. Inside the house was well layed out with every amenity we could think of along with very generous human and doggy welcome packs. Any more "rotund" guests may struggle getting into the shower in the ensuite but there is a full sized bath with shower over in the main bathroom. The extra note from the owner regarding not following sat nav directions to get to the house was a godsend. The turn that the satnav sends you down is extremely tight and steep and comes off a busy A road, although we did find that Google Maps sends you the safer route (from Holmfirth) as suggested by the owner. We would highly recommend Wells Cottage as a base to explore this area from and will definitely be back soon.

Had an excellent stay during our pilgimage to Last of Summer Wine town with visit to Museum, Sid's Cafe and Wrinkled Stocking cafe.

Cottage exceptionally clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Super views. Need stout legs for walking but everything driveable - visited reservoirs, Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Holmfirth has wide choice of coffee stops, pubs, eateries and 2 super-markets. Would heartily recommend.

Beautiful cottage tastefully decorated and intuitively furnished.

It has gorgeous views! Everything you could possibly need for comfort and necessity. The owners have definitely gone the extra mile and a half! The en-suite shower room was cleverly done, but would be a bit of a tight squeeze if you are a larger person. There is a second bathroom too. The road up to the cottage is on a steep hill and very narrow. we had a lovely stay and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the local area. The owners left a lovely welcome for us which we were very grateful. I would definitely stay here again- it was lovely

Wells Cottage was all we hoped it would be and more.

It is beautifully decorated with a lot of thought put into what a guest, and and their family could possibly want. Lots of extras such as blankets for snuggling up on the sofa or for enjoying a cosy evening sat outside. The cottage was spotless and with every utensil you could possibly want. We stayed with our dog who was equally catered for with a dog basket, bowls and even treats. The added extras of milk, prosecco and chocolates too was very welcoming. The location is beautiful, quiet with plenty of assessable walks on the doorstep but also close enough to local pubs and a shops for convenience. We have booked and stayed in many accommodations but Wells Cottage will be up there amongst our very favourite.

This beautiful cottage was extremely comfortable and very well equipped. Everything we needed was there plus more. The only downside was that we were sad to leave as this is definitely the best cottage that we have stayed in. The views were stunning and there was such a warm and friendly atmosphere wherever we went. Wells Cottage deserves more than the limit of five stars.

We loved our stay!

Cottage was probably one of the best we have stayed in with Sykes. Fabulous welcome pack, so clean and everything very high end. Views were glorious and doggies just loved the little enclosed garden. If I had to be really, really picky the only thing I would improve would be the outside seating. The little bistro sets were OK but if you wanted to sit outside for a while whilst enjoying the tremendous views they are not the most comfortable. It was a fabulous week, thank you so much.

The photos and description were accurate and the arrival instructions were easy to follow. It's a beautiful tastefully decorated period cottage with well designed lounge, fully equipped kitchen, good bathrooms and comfortable beds. The owners have gone beyond expectations to thoughtfully provide everything we needed. There was a lovely welcome basket and milk in the fridge, the kitchen was fully stocked; often in rented kitchens knives can be awful and there's not enough pans etc. Towels in the bedrooms were generous and full size. We loved the lights in the lounge; it felt like staying in a 5 star hotel. We had everything we needed. There was even a programme for the local folk festival and a detailed house guide. When we had questions the owners were quick to respond. The view is wonderful. The only thing I'd say for anyone who has walking difficulties is; it's a very steep walk there and back into Holmfirth or to the pub! Thank you very much for a lovely weekend.

Lovely cottage with fantastic views of the countryside.

Absolutely everything possible was provided by the owners. It was a little bit farther than we realised from a shop or pub but was still walkable. It might be an idea to provide a visitor Information book for visitors to comment, even if it is just for Interesting places to visit or where someone has had a good meal. We had a very enjoyable stay and really couldn't ask for more.

The cottage was maintained to a high standard and fixtures and fittings well thought out, and the welcome pack was excellent and well thought out.

Very comfortable with lovely view's. Parking was off road and a good size, directions to the cottage were spot on. We are on the large side and the on-suite was difficult to use, but again kitted out to a high standard.

This cottage was so cosy and beautiful.

Everything we needed was there clearly labelled. There were some lovely touches with décor from local shops tagged that we later explored. A touch of Easter decorations made it very seasonal. The beds, blankets and fireplace made for a extremely comfortable stay. A thoroughly equipped kitchen. This would be perfect for other seasonal breaks. The area surrounding is lovely and we found lots to do with our 6 year olds. We can't wait to return and do some more walks with them as they grow. Lots of local small businesses and different food places in town. The owner was so helpful when we needed to ring for a small issue, that was sorted very smoothly.
