Absolutely charming cottage, all mod cons needed, bath and shower were amazing.

Very comfortable and super location in charming village. Clean and welcoming woukd definitely stay again. Sad to leave sandpiper cottage and Crail.

Despite messaging both numbers I was given at the beginning of my week, (I don’t use Facebook or X) I received no reply and faults reported were not fixed.

This impinged on my enjoyment of Sandpipers.The faults were: TV remote control not working so no choice of what to watch. Boiling water tap not working. Kitchen clock not working. A light bulb needed replacing. No external general waste wheelie bin so bin bag had to be walked to the end of the lane, the previous tenant had put theirs in with the recycling. Outside space weedy and littered, adding to the already awful view of the derelict building immediately next door.

A really lovely cottage the beds are very comfortable, right in the heart of the village.

The only downside for us was we didn’t have any WiFi all week, contacted the owner but didn’t get a response. Hence the Hive heating upstairs wasn’t working and we couldn’t use our phones etc.

Lovely comfortable cottage.

Excellent facilities throughout. It took us a little while to work out how to use the freesat device for the TV - not intuitive! (press red button, then guide button, then select - I think). Very warm and cosy in a cool early May and as the weather improved sometimes a little too warm! The double bed was certainly comfortable - though I could do without an alarm light above the bed - dim but still perceivable to a super-light sleeper like me. Having said that the location is very quiet apart from the seagulls, and they come with any seaside location. My only criticism could be the quality of the frying pans, one old completely (to me) unusable one and a newer one already damaged by a previous occupant. However, the amazing multi-function oven seemed to do the job of an air-fryer so managed with that (it probably did many other things I never discovered).

Sandpipers holiday home was modern, spotless and well furnished.

Absolutely loved living here for my holiday. Would love to come here again.

Sandpipers was a superb holiday cottage - impressively comfortable and clean.

I usually take a cooking and cleaning kit away with me and didn't need to touch it! The house was beautifully set up, quiet and delightfully decorated. Bathroom and kitchen were luxurious and a real treat!

This was our second stay at Sandpipers and it was just as wonderful as the first.

The cottage is comfy, clean and has everything you need for a great stay. The weather was colder & wetter than our previous stay, however the cottage was warm and cosy and great to return back to after a day exploring. The area has so many great places to explore and yet again my children are eager to return.

We loved staying in Sandpipers.

It had (almost) everything we needed! Super location, so close to the high street and pubs and shops. We were disappointed there wasn’t a smart tv to log into and did miss being able to watch what we wanted when. The beds were really comfortable and bathrooms were spacious and decorated beautifully. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend to others. Top tip - get the bus to Kingsbarns and enjoy lovely food and drinks at the Inn - excellent community pub with great atmosphere.

What a beautiful cottage, we have just returned from an amazing week at Sandpipers.

The cottage was immaculate with everything we needed, wonderful comfy beds, lots of space for a family of 5. Quiet yet central location, we really could not ask for more. We loved it so much we booked to return before we even left. This is something we have never done before as we like to try new places, however Sandpipers and Crail have stolen our hearts. My 3 children (6, 10 & 13) have all loved every minute, knowing we are returning soon is definitely helping with the back to school blues. Special mention to your wonderful housekeeper who does an incredible job.

Fabulous stay in an excellent spotless house.

The one Frying pan was badly scratched which deemed it unfit to use. Could this be replaced please, even with 2? Garden area generally needed a tidy up with grass needing cut and bits of old hoover lying next to bin. Otherwise a great stay. Thank you

The background to not giving 100% for Facilities and maintenance relate to two issues which the caretaker did her best to resolve but without success.

1 - The instant hot water tap in the kitchen sink would not work and a visit from an odd job man merely resulted in the kitchen power socket circuit breaker tripping as soon as the tap socket was energised. Clearly this facility has a major fault and should be repaired or replaced or removed. 2 - There was no heat in either of the bathroom towel rails throughout our stay.

Our second visit to Sandpipers.

The perfect holiday destination. Crail is lovely. Walks from the house beautiful. Excellent facilities in the area. Crail has lovely shops cafes and pubs. Can’t wait to go again !!!!!!!

Really comfy.

V warm. Overall brilliant. A few points: - TV hard to work- even with instructions. We never managed. - Some simple soap such as Dove in the bathroom would be great. There was only hand wash. - Oven a bit dirty. - Too many emails from Sykes cottages. Even asking for feedback before the stay/before it had ended. - But we had a great stay. Thank you.

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage.

It was even better than the pictures suggested and we hope to return sometime. Very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need. Lovely setting too even in November. Highly recommend the steak pie in the Golf Hotel and also the little tea room just down the road.

Sandpipers is a great base for a holiday in the East Neuk.

Very comfortable, warm and well equipped. Spotless and well maintained. Easy enough to find parking in the neighbouring streets and no problem parking

We had an amazing time at Sandpiper’s and Crail.

The cottage was perfect for us and beautifully furnished. The perfect place to come back to after a long walk for a glass of wine. Crail was a lovely lace to visit. Thank you for letting us stay in your house. X

No issues with cleanliness as mentioned in previous reviews. To sum up, we had a lovely break in a quaint village with top accommodation.

We had a great stay at Sandpiper.

Cottage was as described and had everything we needed. The property is more spacious than expecting, with plenty of space for us (4 adults and a toddler). Added bonus of lots of kids toys which our wee girl loved. Great location.

Cottage was comfortable,warm and very well equipped especially in the kitchen.

Unfortunately, as referenced by previous visitors a deep clean is needed. On arrival my first task was to empty a bin containing used unwrapped sanitary items in the main bathroom. We found a leak under the kitchen sink . Judging by the amount and smell of the water it was not a new leak . To be fair when we contacted the housekeeper she came straightaway, cleaned it up and arranged for a plumber to fix it . I would suggest you make clear that the sea view picture is not a view from the property. In fact there is no outlook at all. The surroundings are rather untidy and run down .

We love this cottage in Crail.

It is clean, has everything needed, and ideally located to explore Crail and the East Neuk.

Crail is a gorgeous wee place to stay and Sandpipers is a really lovely house.

The house is very comfortable, very well equipped (we lacked nothing at all), beautifully decorated and we very much enjoyed our stay there. The only thing needing attention is the patio table and chairs which could do with being replaced probably due to the salt laden air in winter. Not a huge problem though as we were still able to enjoy the lovely evenings with a glass or two! We definitely recommend a stay here.

Poorly cleaned and maintained.

Stayed here several times before but the drop in standards is evident. Owner did offer to send housekeeper back but that should be a very quick visit to attend to an oversight - such as forgetting to leave towels or clean one small area - not the total deep clean that it needs.

Beautiful cottage Could do with a through clean

Lovely property but really wasn't clean on arrival.

Dirty bed linen from the previous guests was left and the place hadn't been hoovered. Fridge was still dirty. Caretaker was very apologetic when we contacted her and agreed the place hadn't been cleaned properly. She tried to rectify but it really needs a deep clean. Such a pity.

This is an excellent holiday home in a very good location right in the heart of a small village.

For people with limited mobility, the location might be a slight challenge as parking is not outside the property, and has to be found in the village . This is made clear in the literature.

An excellent "home"; easy access for unloading etc.

Good location and the house is so bright and roomy inside. Small area outside to the rear is very welcome. The one minor detail which was rather annoying was the hot water system in place of a kettle which did not function very well at all; perhaps it is no longer efficient. Overall, we were delighted!

What a gem of a property!

Great location near the harbour and a wonderfully spacious refurbished cottage. The kitchen is very large and we all enjoyed breakfast at the kitchen island and coffee on the sun trap terrace. Having two bathrooms was a bonus as well.

Well equipped property situated in the lovely town of Crail.

Minutes walk from the harbor, coastal walk and village shops, several restaurants and regular bus route up and down the coast for those with no vehicle. We spent a lovely month there.

Sandpipers is a beautifully styled and comfortable property.

It is well equipped and furnished to a very high standard. The only issue we would have was with the provision of a boiling water tap instead of a kettle. The water came out fairly slowly and in fact we tended to reboil it in a pan on the hob.

We actually tried to extend our stay when we were there as we loved it so much. The house is fantastic. Fully equipped for everything you could possibly need. The house is spotless, very homely, modern, and all appliances of the best quality. A great find in a beautiful town.

Sandpiper is a beautiful cottage and well equipped.

It was comfortable and warm and we enjoyed staying in it.Cupar is a lovely village with lots of history and we enjoyed walking around the streets and visiting the harbour. Thank you David for your quick response to the alarm issue and to Jackie who attended very quickly. One thing just. No shaver point and we left our 2 pin adapter at home so shaver and toothbrush ran out of battery power. Otherwise all we needed was provided.

We had a lovely family holiday at Sandpipers.

Crail is such a fab wee town and the cottage is ideally located to walk everywhere you might want to go! The cottage was spacious and modern inside. It had everything we needed and the hosts sent out helpful information and responded to emails. We have booked the same week again for next year! (And we loved having no phone signal or WiFi for a week!)

We find poor Internet reception and no Wi-Fi very difficult.

We thought the house was excellent.

A well designed, modern property, spotlessly clean. Our only niggles would be the slippery floors in the 2 showers and the lack of parking although, of course, we had been warned about this.

We loved our stay at Sandpipers and really enjoyed the space and the modern decor.

The kitchen was very well equipped and the beds were very comfortable, which made for a very restful stay. All the furnishings and fittings were of a very high quality and it really did feel like a home from home. Crail is a beautiful village, with plenty of interesting shops and cafes, and the coast and beaches in the area are just lovely. We'd love to return one day!

Nice clean cottage with everything you need, wifi, a hot tub and bbq would make it perfect.

Superb spacious accommodation, spotlessly clean and well equiped in a perfect location.

The cottage is less then a 3 minute walk down to the harbour and the shops (just a street away) have everything that you would need. The number 95 bus stops on Crail high street and runs from St Andrews to Leven. Useful bus if you want to walk along the coast one way. Would recommend Crail fish bar and the Shoregate pub/restaurant, the latter restaurant had only been open 5 weeks following a revamp. It certainly isn't pub food but something a bit more special.

Didn’t realise just how bad lack of WiFi would be in a rail.

Cottage very cosy and clean and facilities within were excellent. Situation could have been better. More coat hangers would be helpful.

Very nice cottage ,modern, lovely decor.

Fully equipped. Who ever cleans it ready for guests doesn't do it thoroughly, it was very dusty ? We were two couples and we had to clean things and get rid of dust . It's not a dirty cottage but not spotless either .shame if the owner is un aware of the cleanliness. But in the whole we enjoyed our stay there .

This is fantastically well-equipped modern cottage, including all mod cons from underfloor heating to a dishwasher and two bathrooms, both with showers, handy for families.

Crail is fantastic spot and within 2 mins you can be down at the harbour. Handy gallery and cafe nearby with great food and views plus fish and chips from the brilliant local shop. We’d stay here again for sure. While digital detox is amazing, on a practical note for some, there’s no mobile signal from any network here and the cottage doesn’t have WiFi, possibly a good future addition.

Sandpipers is a great cottage.

It is very nicely furnished and well equipped, the beds were really comfortable and it was more spacious than I was expecting from the photographs. The outside area is very private and sheltered, perfect for relaxing or eating outside and there was also plenty of room to store our four bikes. It is right in the centre of the village, so just a couple of minutes walk to the harbour and the Fife Coastal Path. Good shops - the Co-op for essentials and a lovely butchers, bakers and whole food shop, as well as the Crail Pottery. Crail is an excellent base from which to explore the rest of the East Neuk, whether that’s on foot, by bike or in the car. Thoroughly recommended.

Clenliness marked down due to hair on beds and in the bathroom.

Also dusty skirting boards and bed frames. Quality kitchen appliances, but no microwave, which would have been handy. Lack of WiFi was known in advance, but was a pain due to little/ no mobile reception inside the property.

On the whole every thing was clean but fridge and ovens had to be cleaned before they could be used.

The cottage was very comfortable and spacious.

We loved the underfloor heating and the quietness of the location of the cottage. The cottage was very close to the main high street for the shops and in close proximity to the Fife Coastal path. Unfortunately, the fridge had not been cleaned inside and therefore had to be cleaned before we could offload our shopping. However, the remainder of the property had been cleaned thoroughly.

Property as advertised in a good location

Absolutely gorgeous cottage, we loved the decorative touches, it was such a relaxing place to be.

Importantly, given the current situation it was spotlessly clean. Phone coverage is very dependant on your provider, Vodaphone is non existent, however Virgin coverage was intermittent but better. Something to bear in mind if you need to stay connected. Parking was fine, it’s an open ended lane so you can generally park either in the harbour road or the small through road and you are close to the cottage either end. Crail itself is lovely, the bakers and fish and chip shop are definitely to be recommended. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the cottage to anyone.

A very confortable and well-equipped house in an ideal location.

Didn't mind the lack of wi-fi as we had plenty books to read!

Lovely property only disappointment is the garage next door not a good outlook from the back garden.

Sandpipers cottage is a great little find.

The location is perfect, couple of mins walk from the Main Street and down to the lovely harbour. The cottage is brilliant. Modern, clean and very spacious. The kitchen is well equipped and the little toys are an added bonus for families. Our toddler loved the house. Beds were comfortable, House was cosy and shower is great. We would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking to explore the area. WiFi would have been an added bonus, but you can survive without!

So easy to arrange things with getting the keys and then arrived into such a lovely cottage. It was spotlessly clean and so comfortable, the interiors make the a cottage such a lovely place to stay and the environment of the cottage was so calm and peaceful. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you for a lovely stay and family holiday for us.

A lovely cottage perfectly located in the heart of Crail.

Sandpipers has been fitted out to a high standard, very modern, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We were first time visitors to the area, and received lots of useful local information from the owners on booking. Crail and the surrounding area are beautiful, with plenty to see and do. Although not particularly a negative for us, some my find the lack of WiFi or mobile phone signal (depending on network) in the cottage an inconvenience. All in all a great holiday in a lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the world, highly recommended, thank you!

the only down side to this property is the lack of internet and user manuals for the kitchen/tv and such like.

It is a well equipped, well furnished cottage with obvious care with quality of furnishings.

Sandpipers is lovely place to stay.

The house is extremely comfortable, warm and stylish, with a fabulous kitchen diner and 2 modern bath/shower rooms. It is more luxurious than I had anticipated and better equipped than an average holiday rental. It is right in the centre of Crail, minutes from the pottery and harbour, but very peaceful as it is situated on a quiet lane. Lots of places to visit nearby and nice walks locally around the seashore and village. I would highly recommend both Crail and Sandpipers, and look forward to visiting again. 5 stars from us!
