The Coach House At The Gables

This was a wonderful property, with no amenity missing.

Possibly the most complete we've used on the Sykes site. I would have no hesitation in recommending it, and visiting again.

A very comfortable, cosy place to stay with everything we needed for a short visit.

The owner was very welcoming, friendly and helpful and we wouldn't hesitate to return. Many thanks.

The village pub offers a good reasonably priced menu

Lovely property located in easy reach of three interesting towns, namely; Shrewsbury, Oswestry and Ellesmere.

Very peaceful location in a small hamlet that has a nice pub called the Burlton Inn which can be walked to. The cosy property has everything you need , the bonus is that you have two bathrooms which is unusual for a two bedroom property.

Lovely cottage, very clean and really well equipped with everything you could wish for.

Loads of crockery, pots and pans etc. Rooms are very spacious and well decorated; lovely shower room upstairs, plenty of water pressure, lots of hot water. The welcome pack Chris and Sue left for us was very much appreciated as was the fact that they are on-site to answer any questions. Lots of local information available in the cottage in leaflet form; very helpful for the first time visitor. Ideally located just off the main road for easy access to the Shropshire countryside. Local pub within easy walking distance was also a bonus. Looking forward to retuning in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The beds are super comfortable, and each room is very welcoming. The owners had even thought about the children, providing melamine plates, bowls and cups and smaller cutlery. They also provided milk, tea, coffee and biscuits for when you first arrive, which was very thoughtful. It is wonderfully quiet and the option to eat out on the patio was appreciated. Definitely recommend.

The Coach House offers superb accommodation - very clean, fresh, modern with lots of interesting artwork.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a full size fridge and separate freezer, and a dishwasher. Plenty of crockery, glassware and a walk-in cupboard for pans! The bedrooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and full length mirrors - something often missing in holiday cottages. It's great having two shower rooms, one is particularly attractive with curvy shower glass, automatic sensor lights on the mirror and a stylish black glittery loo seat! The rooms in the house overlook a courtyard used for parking, which is surrounded by garages and other properties. The outside seating area is a pleasant, sunny spot in the mornings. A very quiet location but near to the main road for easy travelling. We really liked the clementine juice provided, as were biscuits, tea and different types of coffee. Many lovely places to visit - we came from Herefordshire so didn't visit Shrewsbury as we have been there several times from home, so we went west and north, to Ellesmere (beautiful mere), Colemere lake, National Trust at Erddig (absolutely fascinating), Oswestry, The British Ironworks Centre (don't be put off by the entrance drive which is full of superhero figures, there are lots of other animal sculptures spread over a large field, and a shop crammed full of tempting items). Chirk aqueduct and Llangollen are also quite close. We met Chris, the owner, who was very friendly and helpful. We would highly recommend this accommodation. And if you are worried from the Sykes pictures that there is no handrail to the stairs, as I was, Chris has fitted this but has not at time of stay updated the photos.

The Coach House was everything we expected and more.

It was clean, very comfortable and cosy. The welcome pack Chris and Sue left for us was very much appreciated. The information for the area is useful for anyone visiting for the first time. We have already recommended the Coach House to some of our friends and will continue to do so. A small card with contact details for the Coach House would be useful to hand to friends.

We had a much needed relaxing stay at The Coach House.

It was very clean, quiet, has a modern decor with everything you need and a local pub within walking distance.....what more could you ask for. The owners are on site which is a comfort if you need any assistance. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return one day. Thank you very much.

An extremely well equipped and furnished property in a lovely setting with easy access to a variety of tourist attractions.

There has been a lot of thought and expense put into making the property more than comfortable, along with some very thoughtful touches such as the sensory night lights, umbrellas and boot tray, and well catered for in case you've left behind any doggy requirements. Would definitely recommend, we have stayed in a variety of holiday cottages and this one is by far the best!

The Coach House was beautifully presented and equipped and very comfortable.

It was completely private but with the owner on hand to answer any queries. A lovely place to stay, with plenty of places to visit in the area, whether the weather was wet or dry. Shropshire is a very interesting county - we had a great time.

The Coach House was absolutely fabulous, it is finished and furnished to a very high standard, the bed was very comfortable, we slept better than at home !

lots of thoughtful touches, nothing more could be needed. The owners are nearby if any problems. Pity about the weather !

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

The Landlord was very helpful and quickly sorted out a minor problem. We would highly recommend it and will certainly stay there again.

The property was spotless, fully equipped to suit all needs and very roomy.

Off road parking outside the front door was very handy. The garden at the side of the cottage was pleasant and completely dog friendly. We have stayed in numerous holiday cottages and this is up there with the best.

Really enjoyed our few days only spoilt by the weather, well equipped cottage with comfortable beds.

The only negative about this place was that it was only available for a week, otherwise we would have spent several weeks here.

It’s a spacious, well-equipped cottage with good furnishings, fixtures and fittings, comfortable bed, plenty of hot water and good towels. The kitchen is on the small side but has everything that you need and the crockery and cookware was perfectly clean and of good quality. It’s in a lovely quiet off main road location and is on a bus route although there are only a handful of buses each day. We would definitely stay here again. Recommended

Yes we came back yesterday from The Coach house after a lovely stay again, this was our 3 rd stay here within 2 years, we will come again later in the year.

We like the village quiet and of course the village pub The Burton which is only down the road from the Coach house, good food very nice staff indeed, , anyway thanks to Chris x Sue for such a warm welcome and the goodies they left us at the beginning of our hol. Although only short, we had a very pleasant stay at The Coach House.

The facilities were very comprehensive with everything you would need for an enjoyable holiday including a very comfortable bed! Information about the property and the surrounding services and walks were well detailed and the accommodation was nice and warm and spotlessly clean. About ten minutes walk away was the Burlton Inn, a very friendly (and dog friendly) establishment serving excellent food at reasonable prices. Chris and Sue gave us a friendly reception and were on hand to help with any questions we had. We would certainly recommend The Coach House to anyone seeking a pleasant break in a lovely part of the country.

Hello Sykes and holiday makers, if you come here to stay at the Coach House ,you will have a lovely welcome off the new owners and some nice goodies as well , we are still here enjoying our second week now ,Shrewsbury is great for shopping but saying that it used to be better years ago, we did not have enough time to go round everything we wanted to do in the first week so we having a second week here at the Coach house, very comfortable house, lovely beds , everything we need really, nice and clean, easy to park your car outside plenty of space on the yard, a nice sitting area on the decking as well if the weather is good of course, we saw the owners very helpful if you need advice or something they can help you with, We also recommend the local pub as well in the Village,we had a very nice Sunday dinner there, probably we will come back here to stay again next year, we certainly recommend these cottage to other s ,lovely area nice and quiet 10 mile s from Shrewsbury, we did stay here a few years ago it was lovely then as well with the old owners, love holiday s Hywel x Carole,

... The Coach House is just beautiful & we had a lovely few days. There was everything we needed to make our stay comfortable especially the beds! We enjoyed our stay at the Coach House, it was very comfortable and well equipped with good quality items.

The house was warm with plenty of hot water. Towels were huge and fluffy and the art work was very attractive. Having a downstairs second toilet was a bonus. The information left suggesting walks and where to park was very useful and we went on three of them successfully.

The Coach House was perfect for our needs. The decor was lovely and the house was spotless. It was cosy and comfortable with everything we needed. The towels were so soft. We were unable to use the decking outside due to the weather but it would be the perfect place to sit on good days. The property was perfectly situated as a base for touring Shropshire. The owners were very nice and provided a much appreciated welcome pack. Dog bowls and towels were also provided. We would definitely return if holidaying in the area again.

We enjoyed a relaxing stay at this excellently equipped, quiet cottage which has a fully enclosed seating area, specifically for use of the cottage residents.

Set in a courtyard, neighbouring open countryside, it is a good environment for holidaying with a small dog. Worthy of note are the super beds, large and comfortable, enabling a good night's sleep prior to exploring the local area. The owners were welcoming and accessible if required, but we did not need to trouble them during our stay, as everything was in excellent order and as advertised. Would recommend and definitely would stay at the Coach House at the Gables again.
