Upon entering the property, you will be greeted by a cosy sitting room with deep, comfortable sofas and a large television, the room is complete with a woodburning stove providing a lovely space to unwind.

The adjoining dining room and small kitchen are of ample size for preparing home-cooked meals that can be enjoyed around the dining table in the peaceful, quiet ambience, with a lovely view of the back garden.

There is an old-fashioned cool pantry beneath the stairs for you to store your groceries, and a tall wooden dresser for plates and crockery.

For added convenience, a very small external utility room houses a washing machine and the central heating boiler.

There is a handy external downstairs cloakroom with a handbasin and WC for added convenience on the ground floor.

Although unconventionally laid out, to be in-keeping with the character of the property, the house has all the storage space and amenities you will require, although there is no dishwasher.

This is a magical, pretty garden, lovingly cultivated for relaxation and meditation in nature, a small oasis with bees and butterflies and birds of all descriptions.

It has an unusual cobbly winding path, enabling you to find the perfect spot to take shade from the heat of the sun or unwind after a day out exploring the attractions of Shropshire.

The garden is very steep, it is the literal side of the Ragleath Hill, it not a playing ball games kind of space.

Small children would require supervision.

Climbing to the top is a minor adventure for the able-bodied and steady on their feet.

The house is in an ideal location for walks, the train, and Church Stretton.

The cleanliness of the property was very variable. It was dusty, and the washing machine was marked with stains. I had to move a mop, bucket, and plastic bench from the outhouse each time I needed to use the washing machine. The garden would have benefited from the removal of old garden furniture that was covered in overgrowth and unusable. We feel we would not have rented this property if the description of the house and garden had been current and accurate.

157 Watling Street is a 19th century end of terrace 3 storey house that has been tastefully updated (modern bathrrom, double glazing, decoration) without obliterating its period character.

Location suits walkers with access to the hills east of Church Stretton: it is at the edge of town, with several routes in, including a pleasant boardwalk footpath across a small wetland area. The owner was very welcoming and responsive to contacts. The interior is well described in the listing, which points out the steep steps and garden. As a party of 3 adults we were very comfortable, the property would likely be somewhat cramped for 5. There can be some faint traffic noise from the main road, though this is muted by the double glazing and did not bother us. We would return to this property.
