Loved our stay at old barn 1 we had a lovely week pity it was so hot and humid made it very difficult for our 5 month old puppy couldn’t get out as much as she would have liked because of the temperature but she did enjoy the swimming and going to the local pub and we definitely will be back it’s a lovely part of the country and the lemon cake is a lovely touch Thanks for everything Eddie Bev and Bella

Loved the hot tub and the garden was great for the dogs.

Dog friendly pubs and cafes in church stretton about a twenty minutes walk. Waterfall walk was a nice attraction on your door step.

The booking process with Sykes Holiday Cottages was simple and straightforward, and the property exceeded all our expectations. It was spotless, beautifully presented, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The location was perfect, offering stunning surroundings and plenty of opportunities to explore the local area. The owners had clearly put a lot of thought into making guests feel welcome, with thoughtful touches that made our stay even more special. We created wonderful memories and didn't want to leave. This was easily one of the best holiday cottage experiences we've ever had. We would highly recommend both the property and Sykes Holiday Cottages to anyone looking for a stress-free and memorable getaway. We can't wait to book again!

My mother and I stayed with my 2 dogs - 1 large, 1 medium.

On arrival the barn was clean, warm and smelled amazing. I was met by the owner with a lemon drizzle cake fresh out of the oven - a lovely touch which went down well with a cup of tea on the balcony! The kitchen has everything you could need including a dushwasher, beds comfy and the garden secure enough for my dogs - fully fenced, one side about 1.8m, the other two about 1m. The hot tub was lovely and private behind 6ft solid fencing. It is worth noting dogs are not allowed on furniture or in bedrooms which I don’t mind but may affect others. A few points to note - no oven gloves, only 1 hand towel and the towels are small (I prefer a large bath towel). Cushions for the garden furniture would be good. My mother struggled with the sofa - very low and not the comfiest to watch a film on. An outside water bowl for the dogs would have been a nice touch. Fence between properties has gaps so not ideal for all dogs. Worth noting on a Thursday and Sunday you can take your plate/casserole dish to the Yew Tree Inn for a delicious take away carvery, great since dogs can’t be left and my rescue boy is terrified of crowds.

We stayed in old hall barn 1 for 1 week.

It was presented clean and tidy on arrival. All kitchen bits and bobs to help us self cater for the week. The owner had provided a travel cot and high chair for the baby and was about if we needed any assistance. Great base for exploring, we of course went hiking and was lovely to come back have a shower and hot tub. Really lovely. We would definitely stay again in the future. My cocker spaniel loved the garden and of course this was great being able to bring our fur family with us. Thank you for having us.

Fantastic location, perfect for walking into Church Stretton and enjoying all its facilities.

The accommodation is warm and welcoming, with beautiful views to relax and unwind in, whether you are in the hot tub or not. A great place that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday while still having amenities close by. There is also so much more to explore in the surrounding area, but we just wanted to relax.

Just got back after spending 7 nights here for our 20th anniversary!

Amazing stay, very clean, homely and cosy! Even though it was raining for the whole week we took advantage of the hot tub! We visited the local pub The Yew Tree which was a 5 minute walk away - fantastic food! The town is a 5 minute drive away and stocked up on essentials! Overall and awesome experience and would definitely like to visit again (perhaps in the summer!) Thank you for a fab stay! (Our furry friend Roger enjoyed his stay too!)

Lovely barn lovely touches of homemade cakes .

Unfortunately we found the TV to be temperamental in the living room and struggled to get it to work fully. Unfortunately the barn was very cold even when we tried to adjust the heating . The hot tub chemicals were extremely high to the point it made the children's skin red and itchy. When we attempted the bath the water was Luke warm which was disappointing. A few finishing touches are needed to make it a great stay .and worth the money we paid . We would recommend a few check lists to ensure things are working especially in the winter .

The barn was lovely clezn and homely.

They had even put in a xmas tree which was a lovely touch. The hot tub was very welcoming. Lots of nice walks and very good pubs near by

Cute little barn, plenty of space, fully secure garden for two little explorers, the hot tub was a big hit! Perfect for a break, small village but close enough to shops and the local pub was very friendly. We will be back, thank you :)

Lovely property in quiet location - the village of All Stretton has a lovely pub and it is possible to walk into Church Stretton which is a lively town.

Old Barn 1 has a well equipped kitchen (including a decent selection of knives, good sized mugs and different types of glassware - very happy hubby to be able to have a pint glass!) Having access to a Sky package is a bonus although due to bad weather at the time of our visit, the system was down quite a lot Main bed is lovely and comfortable and bedside tables useful although drawers maybe better given there is no storage in the main bedroom, only a rack of hooks on the wall The 2nd bedroom is very spacious and has the added bonus of the walk-in wardrobe. Outside is a secure garden leading to a steam with wonderful views over the fields - we didn't get to use the hot tub because of the weather but it would have been fabulous to sit and relax with a glass of wine As with any rental accommodation, there is always something that could be improved - personally, we would prefer some form of more relaxing lighting in the lounge rather than having to have the centre light on and a shaving mirror in the bathroom would be easier than using the medicine cabinet mirror which is at right angles to the basin We would definitely visit the Old Barns again - both as a couple and as bigger party - there were other accommodations available which would be ideal for large gatherings who wanted a little bit of their own space too

Lots of walking nearby and a good soak in the hot tub afterwards. Would definitely itley book again.

A comfy and well equipped cottage.

We were two and two medium sized dogs and there was plenty of room , would easily fit four. A lovely big garden, fully fenced with a daily visit from a heron. Plenty of walks from the door, and an easy walk into Church Stretton(about a mile) pavement all the way. A good sized coop and plenty of other local shops, we didn’t need to shop anywhere else. Plenty to see in the surrounding area by car. We had a great week.

This beautiful cottage is situated in a lovely, quiet village & is ideally located for visiting both the stunning countryside & towns of Shropshire.

It is well equipped & the fully enclosed garden was fantastic for my two whippet sized lurchers. The owner was very welcoming & friendly & quick to answer any questions, though not intrusive. The lemon cake waiting for us on arrival was a lovely touch. We will be returning.

Really enjoyed our stay at old barn number 1.

Perfect view of the Shropshire Hills and countryside ! The property was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed to cook an evening meal on our return from a day out walking or sightseeing. Shropshire is a hidden gem of a county and the old barns was a great location for exploring. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub under starry skies. The enclosed garden was great for my dog too. Local pub was another bonus.

Place is generally in good condition, plumbing needs attention - washer emptied onto floor and very noisy water pipes.

Gutter drips at front door. We reported when we left. I thought bed was ok, husband thought too soft. Bedding and towels were good. Hot tub great and well maintained. Heating worked well, nice and cosy. Pub in village was nice. Nice area for walking. We left a day early due to 4 people arriving in property attached who thought ok to use hot tub at midnight as well as shouting, drinking and smoking drugs. We did text owner who did come and the people went inside. However we did not wish to stay in case same happened again next day / night as we had a disturbed night and it unsettled our dog. TV bracket also needed attention as tv at angle. Fenced garden secure for our dog. Obviously you can’t pick your neighbours, but it spoilt the end of our stay. There needs to be rules at least about hot tub use times etc

Lovely, comfortable dog friendly cottage with private garden and Hot Tub.

Very clean and tidy. Great location for exploring Shropshire with lots of walks available. Close to shops/pubs. Everything we needed to relax and unwind.

Very disappointed.

We encountered a number of things with the main items being cobwebs, dirt, storage issues, kitchen unequipped, temperamental tv, linens smelt of damp and the barn itself tired but nothing a lick of paint and some tlc couldn’t improve. Our first trip to Shropshire which is beautiful but sadly cut short.

Lovely accommodation in the Shropshire Hills, 5 minutes drive from Church Stretton.

Rachel was very welcoming and helpful and had left us a delicious lemon cake (thank you!) The barn was small, but plenty big enough for 4 adults; both bedrooms are on the ground floor. The hot tub was the highlight; so relaxing to sit in and admire the view after a day of walking.

It was a lovely place to stay and everything was as it said it was.

Very relaxing, perfect for the dog lots of off road walking so you didn't have to use car alot. Would definitely stay again. Socks the dog would've like blinds or curtains on front and back door to keep the morning sun out a little longer, this is her preference not a moan. The owners where so thoughtful with all the things that are there for you like all the essentials and more and everything was very well equipped . One of the best we've stayed at

We absolutely loved our time at Old Hall Barn.

We booked as a group of 3 friends with 2 dogs, and it was absolutely perfect. The enclosed garden was ideal and very safe for the dogs (especially as 1 is a puppy so not great off the lead yet). The hot tub was glorious and the accommodation and facilities offered everything we needed for a relaxing and lovely stay. I'm thinking of booking again with my husband so that we can explore the area a bit more as the only problem was that we were so comfortable in the cottage and hot tub that we spent the whole weekend catching up there instead of exploring the area :-) I would highly recommend.

We had a lovely time in this cottage.

Nice and spacious, had everything we needed for 5 nights with our dog. The garden is completely enclosed, so no chance of escape for the dog. The hot tub was a nice touch and helped with any aches from the beautiful walks on your doorstep. This is a beautiful part of the world and this cottage is a great base to explore it from.

The sofa we both found uncomfortable abs so placed all the cushions behind us. Due to us both bring in the shirt dude The dogs lived the enclosed garden We lived the hot tub and were able to use it every day The walking area was fantastic and there were a lot of places to visit and a lot of dog friendly places to eat. We would definitely stay again.

Lovely property in a great location.

It's a brilliant area for walking and there a many walks you can do from the front door. The cottage is well equipped and the hard floors and enclosed garden make it great for dogs. My only critique would be that the pillows and bed in the double room weren't terribly comfortable and I'd sacrifice floor space for a king size bed. I'd stay agqin though, just bring my pillows from home.

Lovely responsive owners.

Answered my call and promptly resolved the fridge not working, with a replacement. Cottage exactly as described, lovely area easy to find. A couple of small changes that could make the cottage 10/10. Towels for the hot tub could be provided, a clothes horse or more hanging space for towels as nothing in the bathroom. The back door and front door would benefit from a mat to stop grass coming through. Overall a lovely stay, 100% would recommend.

Walking distance to Church Stretton. Some great local pubs,we had fantastic food in the Yew Tree Inn (5 min walk) Kings Arms (30 min walk) and the Station (15 min drive) Property had everything we needed and the garden was great for our 2 dogs. Thanks for a great stay.

Had a lovely time at Old Barn 1.

Plenty of space for 2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child and a dog. Our dog managed to escaped out of the garden the first day but the owners placed an extra strut on the gate straight away to stop this (thank you!!!). Perfectly situated for walking and trips to Blists Hill, Shrewsbury and Ludlow.

The barn was in a fantastic location.

Church stretton was a lovely town with good shops and pubs. We walked the long mynd via rattling hope and stopped at The bridges pub which was absolutely amazing. Next to a river and food was amazing. It’s a must to visit. We also had fantastic meals in the Ragleth and green dragon (both in little stretton). The hot tub back in the barn was absolutely a must after the walk and it was amazing and clean and very hot. The barn was great for me and my husband and dog. Everything you would need. Rachel was very helpful too. Definitely be back. Thanks again

Great cottage in lovely location and great base to stay in to explore surrounding area.

The only downside for us was the entrances. Whilst flat inside, there was a large step to get into the property and into to garden which my 84 year old mum really struggled with. Other than that, would definitely return here

We had a fantastic weeks stay at the old barn 1 , booked to take our lovely dog but unfortunately she passed away before we went - it is an idea place with a dog or without - cottage was lovely and clean , hot tub ace , had everything we needed and very comfy to stay in - location idea and walked to Church Stretton where there was great places to eat and fab shops , lovely walks on your door step and idea location for visiting Shropshire ie - Ludlow , Telford , cosford air museum .

Lovely location.

Great parking etc. But the single beds were awful, quilts in plastic unremovable bags. Maybe something you get in a nursing home but not in a holiday let. They are very noisy and make you drip with sweat because you're sleeping under a plastic bag. Unfortunately, they ensured very little sleep. We'd love to come back but this bedding really needs to be addressed. Thanks

We enjoyed our stay very much.

The property was comfortable and well equipped with everything we needed. The location was good and we enjoyed eating at the local pub. On a very minor note it would have been useful to have a doormat to wipe our feet and maybe a bin in the bedroom.

This is out 2nd visit but previously stayed in barn 3.

We will definitely be booking again. We love the barns and surrounding area. The owners are so lovely and nothing is too much trouble and they make you feel very welcome. The accommodation has everything you need plus items you never knew you would need but did. Very well stocked and home from home. Although barn 3 was bigger, barn 1 is great for the dog as it has an enclosed garden with amazing views. We loved our stay, very relaxing and would highly recommend Old Hall Barns.

Absolutely loved our weekend away, the Barn had everything we could need.

We were also provided with a travel cot and a high chair which was a godsend considering the amount of stuff we already needed to bring for the baby. The hot tub was lovely, super relaxing! I did see a few comments saying the couch was uncomfortable but I disagree, I thought it was lovely. Would 100% recommend to anyone :)

Lovely little holiday home.

Very private garden space with a lovely hot tub. Beds and sofa were comfortable. Kitchen was very well equipped. Shower was nice and powerful.

We had an amazing weekend stay, the accommodation was lovely and warm, the beds really comfortable and the hot tub was the added bonus.

The owner was really helpful too. The bathroom could do with a little attention where the damp has damaged the walls but that’s my only criticism. Would definitely stay here again.

Arrived to find the property clean & tidy.

Beds, sofa very comfy. We had everything we needed. Pint of milk & bread in the fridge was much appreciated. Beautiful rural location. Very quiet. The requested high chair & travel cot were duly brought to us. My 6 year old grandson wanted a hot tub & he absolutely loved it. Lovely enclosed garden was ideal for my Springer Spaniel.

Owners was helpful with a roller blind issue.

But the property wasn't so clean has last time also needs a few maintenance jobs to bring it up to 5 stars also furniture was uncomfortable but it was good holiday.

Stunning location and friendly enough owner.

Accommodation suitable for two adults and young children. Have to say though the sofa is very uncomfortable to sit on and didn't want to sit on dining room chairs all night either. Disappointed that there was no dvd player, (we brought our own but couldn't play them!) No games or books at the property, which we regretted not bring our own. Hot tub was nice. Lacking in furniture in the main bedroom, it is a very small room but bedside tables with some drawers would be helpful. The most complicated of ovens to use and would have been good to be shown where the instructions were together with the limited property info details... we had to go routing for it. This all being said the location of the property is stunning and such lovely places to walk, just bring your own map as there aren't any at the property. Would recommend but some improvements for renters could be easily made to give it 5*

Spent a lovely week at Old Hall Barn 1.

Simple furnishings but plenty of space for a family of 4 (inc 2 teenagers). Kitchen well equipped and a lovely power shower. Hot tub was excellent. Large garden which was very secure for our very inquisitive cocker spaniel. The owner Richard was friendly but let you to get on with your holiday. The toaster packed in but Richard replaced it with a brand new one within 2 hours. Surrounding area is beautiful and ideal for walking. Did the short Rectory Walk and went to Carding Mill Valley Park - stunning landscape and walks suitable for all ages. Visited the nearby Yew Tree for drinks and food which was reasonable and welcoming. Just a couple of minor suggestions for the accommodation - a curtain/blind in the twin room's dressing area for privacy and some softer lighting (eg lamps) in the lounge area would have been appreciated. However we loved our stay and would definitely book again.

Very suitable for our dog as the garden was a good size.Sofa was uncomfortable but that is probably just a matter of taste.Pub five minutes walk away, dog friendly and food very good.Hot tub was great especially after a days walking.All in all would highly recommend this cottage.

Back garden really nice especially for x2 greyhounds great balcony and hot tub . Lovely walks at nationally trust park, and lovely food at the kings arms pud massive portions dogs welcome , brilliant would definitely love to go back and stay at the barn beautiful. We had a lovely time thank you

Nice garden for kids and pets to run around in and it's well fenced off from the stream. Cottage is well maintained and in a lovely location. Would thoroughly recommend.

Found it a bit too small for four people.

Sofa was uncomfortable, could do with more mugs, a blind in the dressing area and a decent curtain at the tall window in the twin bedroom would have been better. Also the bathroom window with clear not opaque glass offers no privacy meaning you have to always have the blind down. Felt a bit overlooked when in the hot tub by the row of houses across the field and there only seemed to be one powerful jet working in the tub. No storage in main bedroom- there were shelf type bedside stands, perhaps ones with drawers would be better to offer some storage? Beds were comfortable, shower always hot and powerful, good secure garden for dogs, cottage was clean, good location, not far from church stretton, Shrewsbury, Ludlow, much wenlock, attingham park, Ironbridge . Nice enough for a few days but felt quite basic and we didn’t feel we received the welcoming touch that we have from other cottages in the past- even a small bottle of milk in the fridge for a cup of tea on arrival goes a long way. Didn’t see the host the whole time we were there, only spoke via text before our arrival.

Barn was very nice.

Could do with a little TLC and would of be better if the grass had been mowed due to having 2 dogs . Difficult to see where they had done their business. View from back was lovely and fab location. Easy walk to church Stretton and a very short drive. Great walks especially for the dogs but mine hate sheep so were on the lead most of the time. Overall a lovely stay

The hot tub and maintenance were great! Lovely garden and a really nice pub round the corner. Perfect place for lots of lovely walks. Just a couple of minor recommendations, it'd be nice to have an information pack of the area and the sofa was very lumpy (not so great after a day hiking). But overall, highly recommended!

Lovely hosts, wonderful secure garden with hillside views that our two dogs loved, amazing hot tub, it had everything we needed. Close fabulous places such as Church Stretton, Ironbridge and Ludlow. The barn is located in an area of such natural beauty.

The barn was perfect, cosy and lots of natural sunshine. All the facilities you need, cooked most days but if you don't fancy cooking the Yew tree 400 yards away do delicious meals. The hit tub was fabulous and cleaned/maintained by the lovely owner Rich. We will definately return.

A beautiful barn in a brilliant location!

The only downside was the TV was very temperamental, Netflix only working for 1 day of the week which was a shame in the evenings. Thank you for an overall lovely stay!

Fantastic holiday destination, even in winter, cottage had everything we needed ( except a freezer) and Richard (the owner) was a great guy and very helpful, the cottage itself did not have a freezer and at Xmas time we really needed one, Richard went and got us one and put in the shed for us which was great, the cottage was very warm and cosy, definitely be going again.

Cottage was well equipped, very comfortable and in an excellent quiet location, but only a short walk to a pub and one mile from Church Stretton, a lovely little town. Owner Richard was very friendly and looked after the hot tub daily. Locals were really friendly and helpful. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Enclosed garden for our dog. Central for where we wanted to visit. Close to lovely village and dog friendly pubs. Owners of barn were very friendly and the milk and cake were a welcome extra. Well equipped except for hairdryer. Loved Much Wenlock and Ironbridge. In fact, we loved Shropshire. Would recommend this accommodation.

On arrival to Old Hall Barn we had been left a lovely freshly made cake, thank you this was appreciated.

The barn was everything we had hoped for & the hot tub was absolutely wonderful after long walks every day. The local people were so happy to stop and talk with you, so friendly and welcoming also offering information of where to walk or visit. Church Stretton was a 5 minute drive with a Co-Op and lovely selection of shops. Parking was 50p an hour from 8am until 6pm. We tried the Fish & Chips on the corner which were delicious. The Kings Head Pub is lovely. Everyone was so friendly and welcomed our dog, lots of fuss was given to her as well as treats, which she loved. If you leave the barn and follow the sign directed to the local village hall, further up on your left, opposite the quarry you will see a gate and field which was lovely for walking our dog. If you carry on you will come to a National Trust sign and cattle bridge, you will discover a lovely scenic view, fresh streams and various ways to walk. (£2.00 per day) We also enjoyed going to Carding Mill, Ludlow & the castle also Shrewsbury, all lovely days out. We would definitely recommend this holiday and will be returning.

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location.

Beautiful hill walks and then relaxing in the hot tub. We had a lovely holiday. Good fenced garden for the dog and young children. It would be good to have a bit more storage for you blacking clothes and the internet was very intermittent but these were only small problems. Beds and sofa very comfortable.

We initially had a problem with Netflix but once the owner came (almost immediately!

) and sorted it out and also replaced remote control batteries we were fine. We were very comfortable, great to have a hot tub and our dog Louie enjoyed the large garden. We even had the 'entertainment' of watching sheep shearing at the end of the lane.

The hot tub was an added bonus and we used it every day of our stay. Lots of places to eat in Church Stretton only a 5 mins drive away. We would certainly recommend this cottage - it has everything you need.

Property was immaculate, as listed, we needed nothing more. Enclosed garden for dogs to run in and hot tub to boot. Whoop whoop. Perfect location for exploring and walking. We definitely book again. Thank you.

This is a lovely cottage and we really enjoyed our stay there.

The bed was comfortable, the hot tub amazing, with a lovely table and chairs on the decking, the garden was great and safe for the dogs, and it is in a very convenient location for seeing the rest of South Shropshire. There are plenty of nice pubs for eating nearby. Richard is a really friendly and helpful owner, we learnt about the sheep in the adjacent fields and he was nice and chatty. The welcome cake was tasty. This is a 2 bedroom cottage that sleeps 4 but I personally would not want to have had 2 other adults there, it would have been a bit cramped. Being pedantic I would have liked - some where for our clothes in the main bedroom other than 4 hooks ( we used the lovely dressing area that is next to the second bedroom) - clearer instructions on how to use the TV - instructions on recycling in the guest folder as our bins outside didn't have any instructions and we were unsure what to recycle - wooden spoons in the kitchen drawer - extra pillows ( I borrowed one from the second bedroom as they were so flat) We had a great time and would recommend this cottage.

First time in Shropshire but definitely won't be the last.

Lovely barn in a fantastic location for walking and cycling. Welcoming and knowledgeable hosts. Some great places to eat and have a drink in Church Stretton, which is only about a mile from the accommodation, so easily walkable for most if you want to leave the car behind of an evening and have a drink :). This was a great holiday cottage in a wonderful location.

Owners friendly and the hot tub was perfect. However, it could have benefitted from more storage. There was only one rail for clothes - wardrobes and chests of drawers would have been helpful. That said, we would definitely return to what is a comfortable and spacious cottage in a peaceful location.

This is our third booking through Sykes and is our most disappointing so far.

Although the accommodation was mainly as described the finer detail was missing. No basics such as a welcome pack with a pint of milk or loaf or bread were provided. A cake was left which was nice, but the basics would be better until guests find the local shop! No instructions on using appliances and heating etc were available and a 'friendly hello' would have been nice just to ask if we had everything or needed help with anything. The cottage itself had a large 'dressing room' for clothes but a chest of drawers and a couple of bedside cabinets would be beneficial as there was no real storage. This accommodation could be better with a few minor changes by applying a bit of common sense. This at present does not deserve the 4* that Sykes had given it.

The information from Sykes and the owners was clear and we had no trouble finding the place and collecting the keys.

We had a fab time, the location is great for exploring and there are some nice shops and pubs near by.

The cottage has everything you need and the welcome cake was a lovely touch. The owner was there within minutes when we had a small issue and it was resolved immediately. The only small thing I would say is maybe to list things you do and don’t provide eg toilet roll, cleaning products etc so people know what to bring with them. Hot tub was great, we used that a lot! Would stay again!

Had a welcome upon arrival and a cake! Kept nice and warm by the central heating. Walking on the doorstep and the quiet town church strettton very close for small shops and the odd pub. Also checked our Shrewsbury which was a nice city!

The Hosts were very helpful and welcoming, they listened to us about any things we could recommend to make the accommodation better they were very knowledgeable about the local area,we have already recommended this cottage to members of our family.

We clean air B&B's for a living so was very pleased to find one as clean as we would leave the ones we clean.

The cottage was far bigger than we thought it was going to be.

The welcome hamper was an unexpected treat. The views whilst soaking in the hot tub are not to be missed. Really liked the privacy of the hot tub as well. Lovely big enclosed garden for the dog. Really was an enjoyable stay.
