The Old Stable

Me and my family had another fantastic stay at this cottage.

It has been our 4th stay in 3 years. Find the cottage clean and tidy and caterers for all our needs. Downstairs bedroom and en-suite is suitable for my dad who finds stairs difficult. Pleasant outside setting with a calming atmosphere. Very good pub up the road serving good pub grub. Counting down the days until next years holiday

Great cottage ideally located to access Weston Super Mare and surrounding area.

Clean and well presented, and great games room.

The Old Stable is a cozy, comfortable, quirky cottage with all the home comforts you need, with the added bonus of underfloor heating.

Our party of six had plenty of room to dine and relax in the evening. The cottage is ideally situated for many places to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Nice accommodation, suited our family needs.

Liked the games room for the children. Kitchen was well equipped.

A few cobwebs (not an issue ).

One around front door .But nothing otherwise. In general a very cosy and lovely place . Village pub is good but you need to book as it gets busy. Hope to return. Soon .

Clean comfortable & cosy. Would we stay here again? Definitely. It is easy to find fault with rental accommodation and some times justifiably. If there are no obvious faults then it’s nit picking! But we could not find anything that we could be critical of or find fault with. Exactly as advertised a gem! Thank you

Lovely location and very well appointed, The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms are a good size.

All very warm and comfortable. Parking spaces right outside so easy for unpacking and packing. Lots of things do do in the area and a good pub a short walk away. We hope to return.

The Old Stable was a lovely property to stay in with excellent facilities, warm and comfortable.

There is a wonderful pub/restaurant just a few minutes walk away and travel into Weston Super Mare is straightforward.

The Old Stable at Hutton is a lovely cottage in a quiet location, a restful & peaceful holiday, we really enjoyed staying there, the leisure facilities such as table tennis were a great bonus.

Another fantastic fortnight has been had by all the family.

Cottage is well equipped with everything that is required to provide comfort and relaxation. We were graced with beautiful weather which allowed time to be spent outside in the garden. Thank-you for allowing us to stay again and we will see you again next year

My stay was lovely and went without a hitch, however I have one little suggestion.

Please get some drapes for the window upstairs in the hallway and the door downstairs

The cottage was very clean and comfortable.

It is situated in a small village. The local pub did lovely meals, but got very busy. Unfortunately there was no local shop, so a car is necessary for shopping.

This was the third time we have stayed here; speaks for itself, accommodation good, only downside is no toilet facilities upstairs.

Outside area + table available also barbie. Good position, not a lot in village itself, but pub and meals available.

I stayed in The Old Stable for a week during October half term.

The accommodation is lovely, set within the large grounds of a family home. The Old Stable is seperate from the main home. It's decorated brilliantly and is very modern, the pictures don't do it justice. Beds very comfy. Plenty of stuff in the kitchen, even a pizza cutter and a cafetiere. We didn't use the shared facilities so can't give any feedback on that. Other family members stayed in The West Wing which is part of the main house. I know they enjoyed their stay and didn't have any issues. We would happily stay again, probably in nicer weather to make the most of the small outside area.

The local pub/ restaurant a 4 minute walk away. The owner Margaret Silk very helpful answering all my questions about different areas of Weston as I am planning to move there, she was perfect host.

Everything was more than satisfactory.

Nice comfortable mattresses, pillows, duvets. Ample plates,cutlery cups etc. Nice modern bathroom and shower. Good power shower. Cottage location very good, close drive to amenities and to hiking spots.Host Dr Margaret was accessible via phone and was very kind in accommodating us for early check in. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay and definitely recommend.

We were generally very happy with our experience at the Old Stables.

It was a shame that the normal welcome packs, books, DVDs etc are not available & I can not really understand why Sykes are insisting on this given the enhanced cleaning regimes? We only had two minor quibbles with the property with both of us being on the large (but not very large) side: 1. It was a very tight squeeze getting into the shower due to the design of the doors 2. We chose a property with a king size bed but the duvet only just covered the mattress when there was no one in the bed which meant one of us was often not covered. My only other comment related to the local pub. There was only one close enough to walk to so we chose to eat there on the night we arrived. I phoned on the Wednesday before to try to book a table but they were already fully booked. We managed to eat at an outside table but that could have been a problem in inclement weather. The food was delicious and we would recommend the Old Inn - it would perhaps be helpful though if the owners could warn people that they need to book several days before arrival if that is possible?

Very good cottage, so good we have booked for next year.

Me and my family enjoyed our stay at the Old Cottage.

We had a comfortable stay and the facilities were satisfactory. However, on the first night we found a frog in the downstairs bedroom jumping about but which I did capture and let go outside but it did freak out kids. Also on the website the images of the property included a table tennis table but on arrival there wasn’t one. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and I would recommend it to any family looking for a nice family cottage.

I was not satisfied with the outside facilities.

The tiny patio with table and chairs is described as "Private" but is in fact in full view of the other properties. We did not feel comfortable when sitting there.

Accommodation was excellent.

The only drawback and the reason I have marked it down was that both bathrooms were on the ground floor and as ancients we found it difficult going downstairs in the night!!!.

The en suite shower head had to be held as fixing had broken, loo roll holder kept falling off.

Living room furniture not the most comfortable. Few serious cobwebs in higher areas, but this is understandable, given the setting. A carton of milk on arrival would have been a nice touch, although shops are close. Photos of kitchen didn't do it justice, not enough made of outside area on photographs. Beds beautifully comfortable, lovely, peaceful setting with very pleasant neighbours. Overall, had a lovely stay, wished we could have stayed longer. Thank you, will stay again and recommend. Lynne

We were going away as a family, my Mum is not well and needed somewhere where she could relax and still enjoy being away.

All my family thoroughly enjoyed stopping here and my Mum felt so much better. You have everything you need, often I have been away and you can’t find something, we did find this was the case.

Well above expectations recommend 10/10

A wonderful week at a lovely cottage.

Close to Weston super Mare, Cheddar Gorge, & Wells. We mostly relaxed in the cottage and enjoyed a local quiz on the Friday night for their twinning charity. Great fun .

Well equipped. Ground floor ensuite bedroom was perfect for a member of the party with access issues. Highly recommended.

A lovely holiday cottage, very well stocked for a self catering property.

Minor issue with one of the showers and there wasn't much room in the upstairs double bedroom (due to a super king size bed). This didn't stop us from having a great time, thanks!

Lovely cottage in the middle of a quaint village.

The inside is immaculate. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. The owners of the place were available but not intrusive. The place lost a star because the outside space was a bit of a disappointment. Not much room for the kids to run around and the bbq was basic. The location is great for exploring all the local beaches and there's tons of stuff around for the kids to do. The nearest beach is "uphill sands" which was deserted every time we went, in the middle of August! Highly recommended.

The upstairs "double bedroom" is minuscule - there isn't any room to walk around the bed - so we ended up giving that one to our toddler and sleeping in the twin room ourselves!

None of the bedrooms have wardrobes - the only hanging space is a little rack of hooks against the wall in each room. Apart from that, it was fine - comfortable, clean and well-equipped.

The Old Stable is a very comfortable and spotlessly clean place to stay.

A delightful cottage that was nicely prepared by the owners who even provided a welcome bottle of wine for Christmas - nice touch.

The underfloor heating is wonderful, the beds comfortable, excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities and so spacious that we could host a meal for 8 on Christmas Eve without it being a squeeze. For a winter setting, the wood-burner (that heated lounge and kitchen) was much appreciated. The parking is more than adequate and the adjoining community room a popular venue for table tennis. Although by no means a show stopper, the tv is small but as it was hardly used this did not detract from our stay. The only ongoing frustration was the slow and unpredictable wifi (BT) that continued to let us down. Overall, a great facility and we would be delighted to return.

This was our first experience of Sykes Cottages and I don't think it will be our last.

The location was perfect, in a quiet area but not isolated with easy access to attractions in the surrounding area. The cottage felt homely, comfortable, welcoming and was very well appointed. They have made very clever use of the space available and although my first impression was that it was smaller than I had expected, it never felt cramped. It was the little touches that made the cottage so special. Both of our teenage sons loved it and gave it 10/10.
