Description

Tucked away in a rural location on the outskirts of the charming market town of Sturminster Newton rests this contemporary first-floor barn conversion, Cointree.

Boasting remarkable views over the breath-taking countryside, Cointree is an idyllic base for an escape to Dorset.

Accessed via a private road, a sought-after driveway greets you at the foot of this lovely dwelling, leading you up an external staircase and into an open-plan living space, fabulously appointed with a contemporary yet traditional interior, decorated with exposed wooden beams and flooded with light welcomed in through the elegant apex window.

Kick off your shoes and unwind with a leisurely seat on the sumptuous sofa, tuning into the television as you relax following an action-packed day whilst the designated chef cooks up a storm in the amply equipped kitchen tucked away in the corner of the sociable space.

Gather your loved ones around the dining table to serve your culinary delights, planning your thrilling holiday itinerary over a refreshing glass of wine, or if you're lucky enough to experience the warmer weather, step outside through the stylish bifold doors and indulge on the south-facing balcony; a lovely spot to soak in the evening sun enveloped in the tranquil setting of the surrounding greenery.

As the evening grows darker, prepare for bed with an invigorating rinse in the spacious walk-in shower before retiring to one of the two bedrooms to rest your head, with the choice between a snug twin room and a charming king-size room, benefiting from access to the balcony so you can enjoy a steaming cup of coffee as you soak in the magnificent views across the treetops towards the River Divelish in the morning.

There's plenty of quiet country lanes and open fields available from your doorstep, perfect for keeping your four-legged friends active and entertained; soak in the scenic views with a leisurely stroll along the banks of the River Stour.

Get better acquainted with your surroundings and head into the heart of Sturminster Newton where you'll find a selection of eateries serving delicious baked goods and traditional pub grub, or if you'd prefer visit the well-stocked convenience store to pick up some last-minute ingredients to prepare a hearty meal from the comfort of your holiday home.

Sturminster Newton hosts a Cheese Festival in September, whilst throughout the year you can catch a live show at The Exchange Theatre.

The town was once home to the author Thomas Hardy who wrote "Return of The Native" based on local inspiration, whilst close friend and poet, William Barnes, also lived in the area.

Within easy reach is the quaint market town of Shaftesbury, home to the steep cobbled street of Gold Hill, described as "one of the most romantic sights in England" due to the delightful thatched cottages that decorate the street; marvel at the striking architecture of the abbey, founded by King Alfred the Great in AD888, or discover the fascinating exhibitions of local history on display at Gold Hill Museum.

Venture further afield to the dramatic Dorset coastline and spend a fun-filled day in Weymouth, basking in the suns rays from the beautiful golden sand that lines the seafront, dipping your toes in the tranquil waters, or if that's not your thing, head to Poole's Centre for the Arts, or watch the boats sail into the marina as you indulge in an ice cream at Poole Quay.

Discover the delights of both the coast and country of this beautiful county with a stay at Cointree.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Cointree.

What a beautiful place to spend a week away with our dogs. Lovely, comfortable, stylish and clean accommodation in a great setting. We were lucky to have good weather and could enjoy our breakfast looking out over the countryside listening to a variety of birds and the two lovely donkeys we had as neighbours. I also can’t leave out Leika, the lovely friendly dog of the owner, whom our dogs loved. A great place to stay for exploring the local area. Would highly recommend to everyone. Thanks for our great stay.

We had a lovely stay.

We visited some new local places whilst we were here. We particularly liked the bi-fold doors giving great views of the donkeys. The kitchen was very well equipped and the accommodation was comfortable and spacious.
