Description

Nestled on the peaceful outskirts of Dinas Cross, just a short stroll from the breathtaking Pembrokeshire coastline, lies Trewrach Cottage — a beautifully preserved 400-year-old stone cottage waiting to welcome you.

Perfect for families, beach lovers, walkers and anyone seeking a true countryside escape, this charming cottage offers a wonderful base from which to explore the magic of the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and Preseli Hills. Set in quiet surroundings, you’ll often spot red kites, buzzards and kestrels circling overhead, while wildlife visitors — including badgers — can be seen outside the French door on the kitchen patio. Step into the warm and inviting sitting room, where the magnificent inglenook fireplace — complete with ancient stone bread oven and wood-burning stove — takes centre stage. Sink into comfortable seating, curl up by the wood burner, or use the underfloor heating and let the relaxation begin.

The well-equipped kitchen is fully furnished with kitchen appliances, making it easy to prepare delicious home-cooked meals. As you eat, enjoy watching the many birds that visit the feeders just 2 meters outside the door — and keep an eye out for the badger that often appears after dusk to feed at the door step.

After dinner, choose your evening: unwind with a book beside the fire, or head to your own private games room for friendly matches on the pool table, table football, table tennis and darts.

Sleep soundly in the two comfortable bedrooms — one double, one twin — both served by the family bathroom with bath and overhead shower. There’s also a handy ground-floor cloakroom for extra convenience.

Inside the cottage, you’ll find handy local information folders — including maps, walking guides and dog-friendly pub menus — so you can make the most of your stay from the moment you arrive.

Step out into your own private sanctuary. The large patio area is perfect for alfresco meals and lazy afternoons, while the orchard can be fully enclosed upon request, giving your four-legged friends plenty of safe, secure space to explore. There’s even a woodland path leading down to Aber Bach — a quiet, unspoilt beach — just a gentle 10-minute riverside walk away. Explore the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path from Aberbach Beach. With a stream nearby, please ensure that children are supervised.

A little further to the north is the popular town of Newport where you will find Newport Golf Club alongside Newport’s sandy beach and old harbour which has a wealth of history.

In Dinas Cross (1.4 miles away), you’ll find a village shop, petrol station and the welcoming Ship Aground pub, serving great food and offering a cosy log fire. Further afield, discover the golden sands and dramatic cliffs of Pwllgwaelod, the scenic walk around Dinas Island, the pretty harbour at Cwm yr Eglwys, and the historic sights of Fishguard — including the 18th-century Fishguard Fort and The Ocean Lab. The Fishguard tapestry which has been compared with the Bayer tapestry, is well worth a visit.

Lovely cottage in a wonderful area.

The hosts have obviously worked hard to provide an interesting and very comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding coast and countryside.

A lovely cottage with great facilities.

Everything you need home from home. Comfy bed. Owner was really friendly and helpful from wood for the wood burner to directions to local beaches and places to visit. Lovely patio and garden with lots of birds and two badgers also came by in the evening. Great walks from the cottage and nearby. Definitely would recommend.
