What guests are saying
When we arrived our hearts sank.
We smelt damp from the front door, and it was most damp in the downstairs bedroom. We’d later discover black mould in the carpet hidden under the bed. We couldn’t breathe damp air all night so all squeezed into the upstairs room. Raising this issue with the property contact provided got us nowhere. We also flagged the disgraceful uncleanliness throughout the house - carpets stiff with years of grime, dead bugs along the skirting, cobwebs all over. We then escalated to Sykes who swiftly intervened. Sadly the state of the cottage currently is not only unacceptable but actually unsafe. But no doubt is has previously been a lovely holiday home - and with some major work done and changes in management it can be again.
So it was a very late booking due to a previous private booking being unacceptable.
Location and setting are idyllic, owner is very accommodating and friendly. Cons: Biggest con was there is no shower, I do feel this upgrade is well over due and a shower should be a standard facility. Also the cottage could be cleaner, the carpets are in need of a deep clean, flooring in bathroom Should be removed and paintwork needs touching up…some TLC needed to this beautiful cottage.
