Alternatively, visit the famous Malt Whisky Trail, which takes in seven world-famous working distilleries, it’s the ultimate Scotch experience, and there is a Whisky Castle just around the corner from the property.

With Tombeck providing secure bike storage, why not bring along your mountain bikes and test your skills at nearby Glenliver, or take on the slopes at The Lecht Ski Centre, ideal during the winter months.

For the adventurous there is an opportunity for stand up paddle boarding nearby, and there are mountain bike trails in Glenlivet.

Why not take a ride on the Hogwarts Express which leaves from Inverness regularly.

We had a good stay at Tombeck House during a chilly October week.

The property was warm when we arrived and was nice and cosy the whole time. There's loads of space - we were only four, but there would be plenty of room for more and the bedrooms are all a good size. We did feel the kitchen was slightly under-provisioned so you'd be struggling with more than 4 if you were making meals, and a number of the plates and bowls are plastic (good if you have young children). Overall a good place to stay and very quiet, which we loved. Tomintoul itself and the surrounding area are perfect if you fancy enjoying some stunning Scottish scenery. The dark sky viewing area (just outside the village) one clear night was a highlight for us!

We had a lovely stay and were very happy with the accommodation.

Everything was clean, comfortable and well maintained, and the property had everything we needed. The location was great and the whole experience was smooth and enjoyable. We would happily stay again and would definitely recommend it to others.
