6 Coastguard Cottages, Aldeburgh

This is a wonderful property.

The images don’t really do it justice. It’s two minutes from aldeburgh high street and from the top floor bedroom there is a wonderful view of the sea. It’s a hidden gem.

There’s only one thing to say: brilliant!

We’ve booked quite a few cottages before, but nowhere else have we found one so lovingly furnished, with such attention to every detail, and so perfect. Every wish is fulfilled here. Just one example: we found not only firewood, but also the right kind of kindling, the matching firelighters and a lighter. With a chilly 13°C, we were happy to make use of it. The rear terrace is perfect for breakfast, whilst the front seating area is ideal for enjoying the evening sun. There was always a parking space available in front of the house. The beach and High Street are close by. For us – two couples aged 70 and over – it was the perfect choice, despite the four flights of stairs. And many thanks for the welcome gift. We’d love to come back again!

A lovely light and airy cottage in a great location just behind the high street and only a minute or two from the sea front.

Very comfortable and well equipped. The top floor has great sea views. The kitchen has French doors opening onto a decking area which gets the morning sun, which is nice for breakfasting outdoors.

This was my second stay in 6 Coastguard Cottages.

Ian and Karen have thought of everything that guests will need and the cottage is extremely comfortable. The location is particularly good as out of high season there is plenty of parking on The Terrace and it's so close to the High Street and beach. Some friends who live locally to Aldeburgh came to supper and said they wanted recommend it to friends and family - they loved it too. The only thing that potential visitors need to be aware of is that the property is on four floors so there are lots of stairs. I was very sorry to have to go home!

Well what can I say?

Nothing more other than an absolutely fabulous property in a great location ( quiet yet only a short walk from the high street) fantastic host Ian who was always there to answer general questions, really dog friendly, weather was great for our long weekend with friends and we’ll definitely be back!

The accommodation was excellent.

Very clean, well equipped and in a fabulous location near to the high street. We never had a problem parking outside the house. The owner was very good at keeping in contact with us and checked everything was ok after a power cut. We would definitely recommend staying at this property.

We had a fantastic stay at the Coastguard Cottages!

The cottage was incredibly well-equipped, with everything we could possibly need for a comfortable and enjoyable holiday. We particularly loved how well-positioned it was, with easy access to all the local shops and other villages. A huge bonus for us was the two dedicated workspaces, which made it easy to catch up on some work without having to compromise on our holiday experience. We would highly recommend it!

Well maintained property.

Had everything you might need. Good notes left around to help you find stuff relative to the stay. Good access to the shops and coastline.

The house was great, being spread over four floors gives a quirky feel but there was plenty of space for the 6 of us with room to relax together in different spaces.

The outside courtyard is a wonderful sun trap and lovely to sit out and eat breakfast or have a drink at the end of the day. Its location is great being so close to the high street and the beachfront with some lovely walks along the promenade in both directions - we could have got away with not using the car at all as we were there for a short break. Owner made sure to text to check we’d got in ok and that everything was ok and I’m sure would have been very responsive if we’d had any issues (which we didn’t).

We were 3 generations - grandchildren 12 & 15, mum and dad and Grandparents aged 81 and all enjoyed no 6 very much indeed.

In good weather there is sun pretty well all day either downstairs on the outside ( breakfast every day ) terrace in the morning or later afternoon on the front terrace. The property is immaculate, incredibly well equipped with a wide variety of thoughtful design and amenity touches and accomodated the six of us very comfortably. Absolutely nothing to complain about. We parked 2 cars close by without difficulty. Short cut direct to High Steet via rear passageway an advantage. The house is on 4 floors so plenty of stairs is the only observation we have.

This is a lovely cottage in a great location.

The property was very well equipped and really comfortable. It was easy to keep the cottage cool during the heatwave. The cottage is a couple of minutes walk to the main shopping street and the lovely local bakery. Aldeburgh is well placed as a base for visiting lots of other tourists attractions. We never had a problem parking close to the cottage on our return from day trips. Thank you for the lovely wine and biscuits. Much appreciated. We would not hesitate in recommending this cottage to others.

We really enjoyed our stay at Coastguard Cottages.

A lot of thought has gone into thinking of everything to make a stay as comfortable as possible. Having the outside decking area was a bonus. The location is fantastic and we loved the view from the top bedroom window. The cottage is over four floors so had lots of stairs, but this wasn't a problem for us. We would highly recommend.

Cottage is fairly spacious and comfortable, well equipped kitchen and nice decking out back to relax in the sun.

Although it wasn’t a deal breaker for us, it could have been made clearer in the description that there was quite a lot of stairs to negotiate, especially down to the lower level kitchen. Also think ‘mesmerising view’ of the sea is a bit misleading as you can only really see it from the attic bedroom and partially from the back bunkbed bedroom. However, it was a very quick stroll down to the Main Street and the seafront.

What a fantastic cottage!

Great, quiet location but so close to the High Street and Beach. Bakers is a good 1 minute walk away. The cottage is over 4 floors so good for your step count but gives you plenty of space. The Kitchen has everything you need and access to the decked area. Parking was very easy and straight outside the property. Certainly would recommend!

We have nothing to add which is different to other guest reviews - it is centrally located, we liked it was set back from the High Street, it is well equipped, like a home from home and it was a lovely cottage.

We loved the velum window so we could hear the ocean (and seagulls) and we certainly felt that we deserved some great food from the very good dining options, after going up and down the stairs!

This is literally home from home!

It had absolutely everything that we needed. And on top of this, this was an extremely cosy pad to spend a few days in. The extra bonus was the position of this property. We enjoyed walking down to the shops without having needed to take the car. Would love to return. Thank you for the wine and biscuits, which we appreciated.

Really lovely cottage, well laid out.

Tasteful and well appointed with top quality equipment and comfy beds. Everything you could possibly need. Friendly and helpful owner, and also housekeeper. Good communication. Great central location on a quiet street just off the High Street. No problem parking. Nice to look over the rooftops and see the sea from the top floor. We've just come back from a super fortnight and didn't want to leave. Usually feel a little homesick by the end, but not here!

Cottage comfy, clean and bright.

Very well equipped kitchen which leads out to sheltered decking area. Cottage in great location for high street and beach and we didn't have a problem parking. Owner welcoming and easy to communicate with. We would recommend a stay here!

The cottage is in an ideal location just round the corner from the High Street and beach, but is tucked away on a quiet road.

We loved being able to walk everywhere and to be so close to the sea. The sound of the waves and the sea views from our bedroom were so relaxing. The cottage was immaculately clean and was so cosy, well planned and welcoming. We’ve returned home with lots of very happy memories from our stay at 6 Coastguard Cottages.

We had an enjoyable stay.

It was comfortable, clean and convenient for the high street and beach. There are three flights of quite steep stairs between the kitchen and master bedroom that may be a challenge for those with mobility issues.

Dishwasher was patchy.

Salt and rinse aid were ok. No dishwasher cleaner. So we washed by hand a lot. Not a big issue Low on places to hang wet washing as there is no tumble dryer. Don’t get me wrong not a complaint - observation. Lovely property had a great time

The fridge is on the small size given that the property can accommodate up to six people.

Great house, fantastic location.

Well decorated, good facilities. All the shops and restaurants are just around the corner, a 2 minute walk at most, but because the house is set back it is very quiet and peaceful. close to the beach, parking wasn't a problem, although I imagine in summer there is a bit more competition for that. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend booking this property.
