  • "Beautifully renovated property, lovely kitchen space, great heritage colours, superb location."

Great books. Had a few issues though, drain outside bathroom overflowed into back yard which we had to clear out, perhaps needs mesh cover to prevent leaf debris etc. Water temp. setting o.k for shower (not steaming hot but acceptable), but bath temp. no good, used once but luke-warm. Disappointing as beautiful bathroom. Back yard could do with sweep. T.V reception for BBC no good, got for about 30 mins in whole week! Is booster needed/possible? DVD player would be good offering if better tv reception not possible. Used radio a lot! General other feedback .... lounge furniture looks nice but not very comfortable and some cushions/pouffe a bit faded and tired. Difficult at night on arrival to find parking area, a number on the wall and gate would be really helpful at the end of a long journey! Went round block several times. In the property more door hooks would be good or perhaps a coat-stand, only 2 hooks on back of bathroom door. Bathroom supplies hadn't been replenished. Despite above feedback, we still enjoyed the property very much and exploring the area.

  • "My first time at this place, great to have a parking space."

Agree with other comments, the gate entrance area is shabby and requires some TLC. The gate catch is broken and has to be wedged shut with a stone. Flat spacious, lovely view of the sea too. Bed comfy and lounge lovely I have stayed in Aldeburgh 3 times a year for the last 15 years so am lucky to have many friends here. Like to try different accomodation, a few niggly things. There was a tack/ nail protruding in the wood floor from the kitchen to the lounge. The handle of the integral dishwasher was loose and came out every time you opened the door. A suggestion would be an electric "woodburner" fire in the gorgeous fireplace as a focal point. Would I stay here again?. YES.

  • "My second visit to."

11a this August. As I get older the climb in and out of the bath is becoming too challenging for me to do safely. A sturdy stool would have made it much safer or indeed just a shower and the lovely old Bath removed.

  • "Little gem of a property."

The property has 3 large rooms, all of which are well furnished and set out. The kitchen is very large and well presented and equipped. Lovely large living room with comfortable seating. Large bed in a good sized bedroom. Very nice bathroom. All very clean and well maintained. The property is ideally located on the sea front. The sea food shacks on the beach are excellent, dressed lobster and noon pies were real treats. Aldeburgh is great with lovely restaurants. A very good property in a lovely town. Would definitely recommend.

  • "Really good location, lovely flat, very well equipped."

Just a couple of things, the back yard was very unclean, we couldn't use the area at all. (I have photos)The TV reception was really bad, I'm not able to get around easily so these things mattered to us on a break. That said it was a very nice flat.

  • "We enjoyed our stay."

It was a brilliant location and having a parking space was reassuring although we didn’t use it as Aldeburgh was quiet and we could park opposite. Notes for the owners to consider. 1. There should be handrails for the bath/ shower. An accident waiting to happen. Nothing to hold onto when getting out of the bath/ shower. Low step into the bathroom was a trip hazard. A note/ sign to draw your attention to this. 2.The bed has a winter duvet. 3. The kitchen pedal bin smells and needs a good disinfect. 4. Would’ve been nice to have mugs for our tea. 5. Front door inside knob came off several times. 6. The soft furnishings are tired.

Hi there, sorry for the problems you have had. 1. There should be full details of the bathroom in the property details and with your booking alerting you to the bathroom access issues and the high step in and out. I will raise again with Best of Suffolk if that’s not the case. 2. The duvet is a medium tog. 3. I am sorry about this - it is cleaned and disinfected after each visit so not sure of the reason for this. 4. There are 6 mugs provided at the property. They are on the dresser along with the plates etc. 5. This is a repeated problem, which we have fixed several times but is a problem in a listed building. It is also a communal area used by other residents. We will be trying again! 6. I am sorry you felt they were tired. They are of excellent quality and not that old. We will review. Property Owner

  • "On arrival the first thing I didn't like was the parking space, it was very tight."

We entered through the back gate and this was our first clue, the latch was broken so if the wind got up it would bang all night. The yard we entered was unclean with rusty old steps going up and a rusty metal plate on the wall. We retrieved our key from the dirty key safe and entered the kitchen, our spirits raised a little as this was a spacious area and looked not too bad but there was a strong musty smell that wasn't nice. There was no welcome pack of any sort. As we explored the kitchen we found the freezer to be full of food with no room for anything we may have wanted to put in it. We then went to the living room at the front of the property and again there was the musty smell with the furniture covered with old musty blankets and certainly not where we could spend our evenings. At the back of the property was the bedroom which was like a cave ! There was only the overhead light, which had a low voltage bulb, with no bedside lamps. The pictures on the Web site showed 3 or 4 lamps in the room which I liked as I enjoy reading before I go to sleep, but they were non-existent. Finally there was the bathroom. This may well be the worst room of all. It was dark, damp and had mould on the shower curtains, horrible. This was the final straw for us, we phoned Sykes and told them we would not be staying. Due to health problems in the family this was my first holiday for two years so the last thing I wanted to do was leave but there was no way I was staying there. In fairness to the owner we were given a refund a week later. If the property had lived up to the advertising, without the smell, it would have been good, it looks as though it needs some TLC
