What guests are saying
We enjoyed our week anc round the house comfortable and very peaceful.
The garden is very overgrown and needs some attention. In response to a previous review we were able to watch live TV and there are also Netflix prime and now if you have subscriptions but perhaps so e instructions might help others. Always a bonus to have bath sheets rather than bath towels and then were lovely ans soft. Free EV charging as an unexpected bonus
The photos present the property very well, but unfortunately we found the reality quite different.
Much of the property feels old and worn, particularly the carpets, which were stained in places, and the sofa. The shower itself was good, although the hot water could be quite tepid depending on the time of day. The kitchen is usable, but the pans were very old and well-used, and one I looked at still had some food residue on it. The microwave also took a little while to work out. In general, it wasn’t always clear what was specifically provided for guests and what might be the owner’s own belongings, so I was glad we had brought some of our own kitchen items. There were also a few maintenance issues. The light in the main bedroom wasn’t working when we arrived, and the downstairs hall light stopped working during our stay. The downstairs toilet is extremely noisy when flushed and was also leaking water. The garden was quite overgrown and untidy, so we chose not to use it. Overall, the property was functional for our stay, but it would benefit from some updating, a thorough clean of the kitchen equipment and attention to the maintenance issues. Given the condition and the amount of space available, we felt the price was high for what was provided.
The property had very nice towels & bedding & lots of kitchen equipment- BUT there were only 5 or 6 mugs for 4 people.
There were some cups and saucers ( not what most people use these days) We also had to wash the mugs and plates before use with the tiny amount of washing up liquid that was there! There were no instructions for the TV…no manual & the owner’s welcome book merely stated that it was “self explanatory “- it certainly wasn’t. We phoned Sykes who reported this to the owner. Somebody did phone back but could only come between 12 & 1 pm . As we’d arranged to go out for the day this was not convenient. We heard nothing after that. We did manage to get BBC l- player but that was all! No live TV for the week! A week or so before the holiday we saw the weather forecast was predicting extremely hot conditions. We phoned Sykes to enquire if there were any fans at the property. The owner said there weren’t but we could bring our own!! 4 adults were travelling in l car…no room for fans!! Surely having seen the expected temperatures & noted our enquiry the owner could have bought some (or arranged for somebody else if they don’t live locally) lt would have made sleeping conditions so much more comfortable for us.With hot weather occurring more regularly perhaps all properties should be obliged to provide fans… The house is a good base for visiting places.Shops & supermarkets are nearby. Park & Ride into lpswich is also close.
