Sailors Rest, Southwold

The property was in a great location with only a few minutes walk to the pier and the centre of Southwold not much further.

The property was well presented and all rooms very nice. Great to have off road parking and a garden to enjoy too.

Overall a comfortable stay.

Fluffy towels & always hot water. Good homely feel. What we felt let it down - unkempt back garden & porch. Garden furniture on patio heavy that in garden broken - neither cleaned. My wife could not open the back door! Lock should be replaced. TV signal very poor.

Sailors Rest is the perfect place to stay in Southwold, plenty of space for the family and all the facilities we needed.

Pier Avenue is a great location, an easy stroll through the churchyard to the heart of the town and also great for nipping down the road to visit Tim Hunkin's Under The Pier automata exhibition and the beach.

The property is well-equipped, and the equipment (white goods, heating) worked well.

It is a good size with useful storage space. The location is very good for exploring East Suffolk. The property is an easy walk from the sea and the town. We were also very pleased to find a Type 2 (slow) EV charging point at Reydon Village Hall. The hall is a short walk from the property and we were able to plug in our car and walk to the house/sea/town while the vehicle was charging.

Needs a clean.

Cobwebs everywhere. Apart from that; a good location.

Sailors Rest is a lovely house in a lovely position, but has some maintenance issues.

Southwold is very pretty but is in need of some regular shops. Luckily I ordered an online Sainsbury’s grocery delivery, and would recommend that future guests consider this option too. Food shops are very limited, and the coffee shops, and cafes are very expensive. We enjoyed a nice break with regular walks to the beach and the weather was kind. Parking on the property was a big bonus. The area was very busy at the weekend, as it’s a popular tourist destination .

Good situation, close to all amenities.

Bonus of two parking spaces. The house was comfortable and well equipped. A good space for a family, we were 4 adults and two under 12. The smallest bunk room would be tight for older children but otherwise ok. Plenty of seating and space not to be on top of each other. All in all a great stay

We loved our few days at Sailors rest in February.

It’s a great location and has everything you need. Beds were really comfy and great water pressure. We found downstairs quite cold especially in the kitchen where the radiators didn’t seem to work well. Once we got the fire going the main room was snug. Also wondering if the Christmas tree is a year round feature?? We would consider coming back in the summer as location to pier and beach is great.

It was a warm comfortable house with beautiful sea-themed decorations.

The location was fab - just a street away from the sea and Southwold Pier. We lived in Norfolk from 1990 till 2019 and often visited Southwold, so we had plenty of old friends and old haunts to visit. We'd like to recommend Kessingland Africa Alive - such lovely animals and a beautiful setting. The weather was good too.

Water pressure was an issue although I believe this is now in hand. TV a bit temperamental but generally a fine place to spend a week or two!

No welcome pack on arrival nor access to WiFi The house is lovely though and close to the beach and shops.

Perfect location for the beach and the town.

Lovely house, really well equipped and easy to live in.

Only complaint was that we couldn’t access the WIFI as the code was wrong, We mentioned this several times but nothing was done to sort this out.
