First you have to travel up a pot holed track to get to the property.

Do not do this if you have a low level car. When we got inside the property it was cold and unwelcoming. No curtains on the bedroom windows. We did not feel that the shower was fit for purpose and that the kitchen is outdated. The property felt dated versus the photos on the website.

Needs to make clear that the access track may not be suitable for cars, we had SUV's which were able to negotiate the track

It's a remote place.

But it's wonderful. Quiet and peaceful. If stargazing is your thing. It's perfect for that. A store in the village of Tongue will give you most things you may need. This isn't advertised on Google yet as it's not been open for long. The tongue hotel for a wonderful meal out. The area is stunning. The house is brilliant. Working fireplace. Comfortable rooms. Central heating. Comfortable furniture and all amenities. Plus a massive smart TV. Yes the WiFi may not be that good. But that is expected in the area. Still more than enough to stream Netflix or be on your phone. Hills out the back to explore. Wildlife roaming. A quick acknowledgement of Scott. He is a really helpful and friendly chap. Great host and will answer questions on how to get there. Top place. Could not recommend any more

Beautiful location.

Dreadful directions - would never have found it without asking locals. Spacious house. Quirky layout - nice. Comfortable seating & bed. Road leading to house very rough. Extremely poor internet - very unreliable meaning could hardly access internet nor watch the single channel on the smart tv. House only superficially clean - needs a deep clean & cleaning maintained throughout - grimy kitchen, appliances, crockery, towels, utensils & cutlery. Lots of cobwebs & dirty windows. Very limited cutlery & crockery - if 5 people would really struggle. Nice views. 3 x impromptu visits to house & garden areas from host - 2 x in evening - not great. Plenty firewood to use but did not need to do this - central heating was good. House needs to be given a bit of care, time and attention to make it what it could be. Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Improve internet or inform of how poor it is. Update crockery, towels, utensils & cutlery. No impromptu visits - when you have guests it’s not “your home”.

Nice house and location but difficult to find from the directions given.

I suggest the folowing:- House is not visible from the road but along an unmarked track from a minor road that leaves the A836 to go to Skerray, then loops back to the A836 From Tongue go east to the turning to Skerry and follow the road. DO NOT take the turning marked Achnabat. The track is a few yards past the turning to Clashaidie and on the right. From Bettyhill direction on the A836 going west take the road to Borgie. The track is just after Achtotty on the left. Satnav 58.531188,-4.296317 will take you the start of the track. OS 25,000 Map 448 NC 66394 62627 is the location of the house which has no sign.

Lovely cottage,very peaceful,and fantastic wildlife especially the deer ,and Scott a good host.

I suspect that the wi-fi is not secure.

the directions to get to the property are wrong; many of the people living in the area are in-comers so you need to find one of the locals to tell you where to find the property. I asked Sykes twice about directions but got no satisfactory answer

It was a perfect stay for the whole family.

The accomodation cannot be better and Scott is so friendly and helpful that we really felt at home and enjoyed the wonderful area. We hope he will let us stay again some other time. Best wishes! Doris, Tom, and family.

Very comfy cottage with beautiful surroundings.

However, the wifi was so slow. Bathtub needed to be fixed. The cottage location must be pin dropped on maps so it will be easy to locate the cottage.

It's a shame that booking amazing places like this has to be through an intermediary that hikes the prices up and takes the lustre off the experience.

A great secluded house with all the comforts you need.

The large house is well equipped. It has a great central heating system and two log burners so we were toasty warm for our two week stay in mid January. The location is very remote with great walks straight from the front door. Craig the owner is extremely friendly and happily shares a wealth of local knowledge. The location map and details on the website are totally wrong and the house is more than a mile further north. Excellent location for exploring the far north of Scotland, wonderful walks on the doorstep, with amazing beaches nearby; we spent 2 weeks here and would happily return.

Property was fantastic for two of us, would be great for up to 4 (maybe 5) people. Easy to control effective central heating (needed on cooler windy June days), with an excellent electric shower in the downstairs wet room. Property very clean on arrival, and well equipped, we used oven, toaster, kettle, microwave, washing machine, and wifi, and all worked well. There is a slightly uneven 500m track to the house, but driven carefully our small car (with almost no ground clearance) made it fine. A few minor upgrades would makes this house perfect; pans a little tired and could do with a refresh; glasses a bit limited (we bought 4 and left them behind for the next visitors); in the almost-never-dark midsummer I'd have preferred blackout blinds or curtains upstairs. Nearby Borgie Lodge does good evening meals (book ahead); for coffee, visit the roadside cafe hut Coastal Coffee and Treats just beyond Bettyhill on NC500 towards Thurso. The nearby general store at Bettyhill (15 mins drive) has all the basics + fuel, but for a larger supermarket you'll need to drive for over an hour to Thurso (Co-op and Tesco) or Wick (Aldi, Co-op, Tesco Superstore). Many local roads (including A roads) are single track with passing places so getting places takes longer but views are amazing.

Unfortunately the property was poorly cleaned on arrival and despite the owner apologising there was no offer to have another clean carried out during our stay.

We discovered the oven didn't work and despite reporting it received no response from the owner so therefore had to waste food that had been bought to be baked. There was a paltry selection of glasses - not even enough for three people never mind five! The clothes airer was broken. We had been sent details for the TV and heating but there were no instructions for anything else and no visitor information pack like we have had in every one of dozens of other properties we have stayed at. The location is amazing and we will be back to the area, but not to stay here.

Fantastic location and wonderful cottage to stay in, with all the facilities you would need. Would definitely recommend and return again in the future.

Excellent location for exploring the north of Scotland. The owner was superb and made us feel extremely welcome. Would love to return one day! Would highly recommend. We were absolutely delighted with this property.
