Description
Strathpeffer 1 mile.
A charming, stone-built cottage, situated in a quiet hamlet close to the famous Victorian spa village of Strathpeffer.
This deceptively spacious Strathpeffer cottage offers up-to-date facilities and is ideal for a family or group of friends who want to enjoy this beautiful part of the Scottish Highlands.
With the accommodation all on one level, apart from a small step up to the shower room and kitchen, this Highlands cottage has two nicely presented bedrooms and a tasteful sitting room with welcoming woodburner, making it a fabulous place to relax at the end of a busy day.
The well-equipped kitchen/diner benefits from having a door leading out to the pretty front garden where guests can relax with a quiet drink while dinner cooks!
Although quietly situated, the spa village of Strathpeffer is close by and offers a choice of venues for dining, some lively pubs and a busy village shop, plus during the summer months the local pipe band play to entertain visitors.
The area has much to offer visitors with an abundance of cycle paths and fabulous walks, as well as fishing in the rivers close by or a round of golf at the Spa Golf Club.
By car, visit the pretty Black Isle villages, see dolphins jumping in the Moray Firth and explore the wonderful beaches at Nairn.
This Strathpeffer cottage is a super holiday base.

What guests are saying
A great Cottages and ideal if you have a dog.
The garden is fantastic and safe and there are lovely walks right on the door step. The cottage was warm and there was loads of hot water. The host provided everything you would need, towels, bedding, kitchen items etc and there are great shops and eateries in Strathpeffer. Great parking at the cottage too. Would recommend the area and this little cottage.
a week of peace and solitude was what i needed and thats what i got in this beautiful cottage.
the cottage itself is comfortable with everything i needed in it, the added bonus was the huge enclosed garden that kept my 2 small dogs occupied all week. never had they had such freedom ! they patrolled the garden all week! its a lovely cottage in a lovely area, i didnt actually go out much i spent my time for the week in the cottage and in the garden. there are plenty places nearby to visit, and its not too far from inverness. for me it was a little peace of heaven and escape from a very hectic life. we will be back at some point,
Unfortunately, our stay was disappointing and fell well below the standard we would expect from a holiday cottage.
The cottage was very basic and lacked many of the welcome touches and essential items that most holiday lets now provide. There was no welcome pack, no local area guides or information, no books and no basic provisions such as tea, coffee, milk, salt or pepper. After a long journey, these small touches can make a big difference and help guests settle in more comfortably. We were left with only one bath towel and one hand towel between two adults for a week's stay, meaning we had to go out and purchase additional towels ourselves. There was also only one toilet roll provided for the entire week. The fridge door seal appears to be broken, resulting in milk and other food spoiling within a couple of days. The freezer's position is also awkward and potentially hazardous, as I accidentally banged my head on it when bending down to use it. The shower was very slippery and lacked any grab rails or support, which could present a safety concern for guests with mobility issues or disabilities. Whilst the bed was comfortable, the cottage lacked many of the comfort touches that help make a property feel welcoming and homely. The sofa had no cushions or throws, making the living area feel quite stark and basic. The latch on the living room door is also broken, meaning the door cannot be properly closed. We also experienced issues with the heating system, which was not working during our stay. There were no instructions provided on how to operate it, making it difficult to troubleshoot. The property also advertised a log burner, but only kindling had been left, with no logs provided. Communication and management of the property were disappointing. We received no contact from the owner during our stay. In addition, the gardener arrived unannounced. Normally guests are informed in advance of any visits to the property. Had I known, I would have ensured the two recent piles of dog mess in the garden had been cleared beforehand as I was about to do that when he turned up announced. Directions to the cottage could also be improved, as there is no visible sign displaying the cottage name, making it difficult to locate on arrival. Whilst the large garden was ideal for our dogs and was one of the property's strongest features, it is situated next to a road where vehicles regularly appeared to be exceeding the 20mph speed limit. Constant supervision of the dogs was required, and guests travelling with children or pets would benefit from being made aware of this in advance. This cottage appears to be poorly managed, which is particularly disappointing as my brother stayed here two years ago and had a very positive experience. We stay in holiday cottages several times a year and have never encountered one that felt so basic or lacking in essentials, information for guests, and general comforts. We loved the local area and enjoyed exploring it, but unfortunately the cottage itself did not meet our expectations. The combination of maintenance issues, lack of basic supplies, poor communication and limited guest information resulted in a disappointing stay. As a result, we would not choose to stay here again or recommend it based on our experience.
