We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful cottage in the Scottish Highlands.

The location was peaceful and surrounded by stunning scenery, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. The cottage itself was cosy, clean, and very well equipped with everything we needed. It truly felt like a home away from home. We would absolutely love to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful Highland escape.

Cosy, spotless, and wonderfully peaceful. We loved the wood fires and stunning views of Skye in every kind of weather. Can’t wait to return!

Had everything we needed and was very comfortable and cosy.

Communication was non-existance.

I sent 2 messages through and never got a reply. The listing description does not match the photos. We were actually not sure what we would find. Shower door drains on to the floor and hot water was dangerously too hot! Only 1 pan to "fry" in and no basic seasoning supplies. American's like salt, pepper, garlic, onion and other basic seasonings to cook with and generally found in B&B's.

We had a truly wonderful and relaxing stay at North Cottage, and it ended up being the perfect place for our honeymoon, even though we discovered it at the very last minute!

After our original booking was unexpectedly cancelled, Sykes quickly contacted North Cottage, who kindly arranged for us to check in on short notice. We arrived late in the evening after a long journey to find a warm and inviting cottage that far exceeded our expectations. The cottage itself was beautifully decorated, with thoughtful and interesting touches throughout, paintings and charming items that made it feel like a real home rather than a typical holiday rental. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the peaceful surroundings meant we slept soundly every night. The spacious bathroom was a real treat, with hot water coming through very quickly (a pleasant surprise, though be careful—it does get very hot fast!). One of our favourite features was the log-burning stove, which came with plenty of wood. On a damp and rainy day, it was the perfect excuse to stay inside, light a fire, and simply unwind. The views from the kitchen, hall, and bathroom were absolutely breathtaking, watching the ever-changing skies during our evening meals was a highlight of our stay. The nearby beach, a mix of sand and pebbles, was within easy walking distance (though be prepared to climb over a couple of gates). It was well worth the effort for the peace and beauty of the spot. We also explored the local area, including a visit to the Glenelg Inn, about a mile’s drive away, where we were warmly welcomed. We enjoyed lunch one day, and a lovely three-course dinner another evening (highly recommended). We also stopped by Dun Brewing, a local brewery where we sampled a good selection of their beers. All in all, our time at North Cottage was everything we hoped for and more. It turned what could have been a disappointing situation into a memorable and special experience. We’ll definitely be looking to return - hopefully in the not-too-distant future!
