Kelpie

Kelpie is a comfortable, compact cabin with a good view.

It was ideal for our purposes - working on a boat in the yard at Croabh Marina which is just a few minutes walk away.

This was our second stay in Kelpie and hopefully won't be our last.

A cosy property right by the loch, it had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. Croabh Haven is an excellent base to explore this beautiful part of Scotland.

Kelpie was a fantastic place, so clean, everything we needed was in the place , the views were just amazing, we wanted a nice and peaceful quiet place and that is exactly what we had, we were very lucky to have nice weather, we definitely will be going back

This property is ideally located to allow you to explore this part of Argyll which has a considerable amount of beautiful scenery and hsitorical sites.

The view over the bay was lovely. The only down sides were a) occasional noise from the fish farming operation which was adjacent to the marina; b) the licensed premises, which would have been within easy walking distance, had apparently ceased trading. The latter meant that you had to factor in eating further away from your cabin or to acquire carry-out food or food to cook quite a bit away from this generally nice location.

We had a lovely week at Kelpie.

Beautiful surroundings and view and very peaceful. The owner’s Helen and Mark were lovely. Kelpie has everything you need and ideal for exploring the area and a day trip to Isle of Mull. Would highly recommend a stay here!

This was the most relaxing holiday we have had.

The property is well furnished with everything you need. It is secluded so perfect for peace and quiet. The surrounding area is stunning and would recommend a walk around this wee island as well as the island at the other side of the harbour. Watch out for dolphins, seals, otters, red deer and a wide range of birds All in all an amazing relaxing holiday and would definitely recommend Kellie as a place to stay.

Lovely situated chalet quite isolated quiet and peaceful.

Certainly a get a away from it all holiday next to the sea. Birds flocked once we put bird food out. Limited places to eat as pub at the marina is closed. Lucy’s is open had a meal there once but a pub in Ardfern we found on the last day alongwith the other Lucy’s where we had lunch. Would recommend. Crinan canal walk was lovely and the Crinan coffee shop was a highlight. Alongwith the seafood shack at Oban delicious next to the ferry terminal. Visit to Iona albeit a long journey it was well worth it. A truly lovely relaxing time with our 4 legged companion.

what a wonderfully peaceful retreat from reality sitting watching water moving is so relaxing, we thoroughly enjoyed and needed the tranquility of Kelpie after the last 5 years of caring and dealing with lawyers and probate etc.

We would love to return in a couple of years, fabulous.

Kelpie was ideally located for our week - within easy walking distance of the Croabh Haven yard, for working on our boat , and with an attractive lochside deck and view.

Mark and Helen, the owners of the lodge, were nearby when needed and were very helpful and friendly.

We had a great few days doing our old walks.

The holiday property was great for us comfortable and no problems. Argyll was lovely as ever. First Class

Owner never seen during the week. Wont be going there again or using Sykes for booking a holiday again.

nice and quiet with beautiful views. We had great weather. We had dinner at the Loch Melford Hotel about ten minutes away.it is dog friendly and the food is excellent.The views in this area are beautiful

Fantastic property, great location, well equipped accommodation.

I would highly recommend this property to anybody wanting a perfect holiday destination.

Friendly and helpful owners, who made us feel very welcome and solved the one issue we had (a gas heating bottle needed changing) within minutes and with no problem and good humour.

So peaceful and surrounded by wonderful wildlife and great views. Warm and well appointed, with everything we needed.

Lovely location, cosy and had everything we needed, Mark was great, came to check on us a couple of times during our stay, couldn't be happier.

Waking up to that view every day was priceless. The marina views are also spectacular. The only thing I would change is ask for a comfier sofa, but that's just me.

We had a very relaxing week away with our dogs.

Lots of lovely walk from the lodge. The lodge was well equipped and comfortable. Enjoyed watching the seals while having a coffee.

Due to ongoing diversions spoilt our holiday because Skye/Mark should have rescheduled or cancelled holiday.

As they were aware of situation on area, Mark also made comment on low cars not being good for the surrounding areas and damage to the road. as previous person Katie who stopped even commented on locals and people having to be airlifted out of the area due to the previous storm. I can appreciate diversions however not 2 and a half hours every day to get and visit surrounding areas. We understand it is Mother Nature however this could have been rescheduled as Skye and mark would have known about the local conditions prior to us arriving. We were looking forward to this break and left after 2 days out of 7, I genuinely feel like I have been ripped as current cost of living situation, we worked hard to pay for this trip for 2 days I genuinely feel like I have just burnt £600 which could have been rescheduled or put towards another stay later in the year.

We really enjoyed our stay at Kelpie.

The property is in a lovely location looking onto the water, perfect for watching the local wildlife. It was very comfortable and was well equipped with everything we needed. Croabh Haven is a good base in the area with lots of nice walks and beautiful views looking towards the islands.

We should of been told our holiday was cancelled, it was dangerous to be there.

We asked if we could move our booking to another week on Saturday late afternoon when all roads were blocked with landslides or flooded, it was extreme weather conditions with many people being airlifted out. It would be dangerous for us to be there, but you didn't cancel! We managed to get through by early evening on Monday having taken a two hour detour. Then spent the whole of Tuesday with no heating waiting for a plumber to arrive! First one 7.30am, then spare towels to help with the leak late morning, spare part early afternoon finely being fixed about 7pm. Leaving us with just two days holiday and more landslides! This holiday should of been rescheduled.

Everything was perfect very peaceful and great weather

Everything in the lodge was just perfect and exactly as the photos show.

It was more spacious than we thought and very well equipped. Helen was never far away if we needed advice. The views were inspiring and we were lucky to see a seal right outside. The area is just so peaceful, we didn’t spend enough time there as we wanted to make the most of our time in Scotland. The local pub does amazing food and a great choice of beer. We went on a local charter boat tour with Tony at Farsain who gave us a great 3 hours out in the local waters. All in all a wonderful holiday.

Absolutely loved our stay at Kelpie and hope to book again for next year soon.

A real gem of a find.

A fantastic stay in a lovely property surrounded by natural beauty.

We spent mornings and evenings relaxing outside with views across the Loch, watching the wildlife right in front of us including seals and various birds. It’s so quiet and peaceful there and the perfect place to get away from a busy work life and relax. There’s plenty of places to explore in the local area and we enjoyed a boat trip from Craobh Haven marina to watch wildlife including sea birds, eagles, red deer and harbour porpoises! The property itself has everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. I highly recommend this property and will definitely be booking again in the future!

A quiet and peaceful location, with a beautiful view.

An excellent centre for exploring the coast of Argyll. The cabin is secluded, comfortable and well equipped. Highly recommended.

Our lodge was perfect and our hosts were friendly and kind. We were sad to leave Kelpie and Croabh Haven and will be telling everyone we know all about it!

A great little cottage in a fabulous location

Neat cabin with great view, good value, very helpful owner, excellent location with much interest in the immediate surroundings - wildlife, marina and boatyard, the estate and its tracks and interesting local residents met on dog walks.

The property was fantastic, the owners very welcoming and accommodating.

Lovely location. Lots to do, walking, horse riding, fishing, mountain bike riding, swimming, kayaking, places to visit etc... you only have to look! 35 mins drive to Oban and 25 to Lochgilphead, where you can find all the normal shops i.e., Tesco (Oban), Co-op (Lochgilphed) take outs, restaurants, pharmacies etc. The view on to the loch was stunning with lots of wild life. The owners very kindly placed a pair of binoculars in the window of the lodge for you to use, which we did and spotted the seals. If you are thinking of staying at Kelpie, you WILL need a car.

Homely, spacious and well equipped and in a great location with fabulous view over the bay. The owners, Mark and Helen, who live nearby to property were very welcoming and did everything to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Hope to be back
