Beaton's Croft House - Uig Skye

It was well equipped for a weeks stay and perfect for the views.

Peaceful and didn't miss the television at all. Only negative the shower didn't have a none slip shower mat.

Love our stay of two weeks would be good to put a slipmat in shower for us older people other would recommend this cottage to our family and friends

Place was really lovely and clean on arrival.

We were relatively late on the Saturday night and had an issue, not super urgent for a bank holiday weekend so sent a text to the emergency contact rather than disturb his night, he never bothered to respond, which was rather annoying.

What a fantastic property.

Clean and had everything one would need. Was lovely to come back and relax Infront of the fire after a day out in the hills. Can't recommend enough. Will definitely be back.

We were disappointed with Beatons Croft , it was in need of some maintenance both outside and inside ,which is a real shame given that it is so old and a listed building,and I wouldn’t describe it as comfortable.

The positives were that it was clean and warm , it makes an adequate base to explore the beautiful island of Skye.

This was our third stay at Beaton’s Croft, and once again we had a wonderful, peaceful holiday.

The house is spotlessly clean and really comfortable, with everything you need for a simple, quiet escape. The new WiFi was a pleasant surprise. We did end up using it to watch a couple of films in the evenings, but we still kept away from news and media and enjoyed the chance to slow down, read, and relax. The views from the croft are as breathtaking as ever, and the sense of solitude is one of the biggest draws for us. We had no need to contact the hosts, and everything was exactly as expected. It’s a place we keep returning to because it gives us the perfect balance of comfort, quiet, and that wonderfully remote feeling that’s increasingly hard to find. It's a great base for exploring Skye, but also perfect if you just want to sit in and enjoy being away from everything.

Beaton's Croft House provided an excellent location for my week's winter visit to Skye.

The property itself is well-equipped, including wifi and a log burner. The bed was extremely comfortable and as there is no street lighting or neighbouring properties, it was possible to enjoy a great night's sleep. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to spend some time in Skye. I found the price for a winter stay to be very reasonable.

Wonderful warm and cosy croft, small but compact kitchen with everything that you need.

Plenty of warmth and hot water, comfortable double bed. Ideally suited to explore the top of Skye. The only thing I would add would be some maps of local walks and locations of places to visit. Definitely would stay there again.

The cottage was cosy and wonderful, we would recommend it to every one for vacation on Isle of Skye.

We booked Beaton's Croft as the quirky nature of the property really appealed.

It was indeed cosy and turned out to be smaller than it looked in the photos - although this did not put us off. The kitchen was well equipped and modern and the lounge cosy with its log burner. There were a few things that we really felt let down the overall quality of the property. The double bed was absolutely worn out. As soon as you sat on it you sank right through the mattress to the base and any movement caused the springs to groan. The toilet/shower was tiny. This was fine but it is in desperate need of a make over and upgrade. The shower tray had mould and the toilet smelled as there was no ventilation and no working extractor fan. There is also a lack of communication between the National Trust, Sykes and the holiday maker e.g. ourselves. We were sent a door code for the key safe. On arrival this was broken and it was only by chance that we noticed the door to be unlocked and the key left in the door on the inside. Surely passing on such information is essential. On a more positive note the property now has internet! Once again no one conveyed this information? However the entrance outside has obviously been dug up to allow internet access. It has been very poorly repaired and a dangerous hole in the path/step is right outside the doorway - this could be a trip hazard if arriving at night. The views of the Western Isles from the cottage are fantastic as is the location and there is a very nice walk to the local beach/bay. To summarize we felt that National Trust Scotland let itself down badly in somewhat letting the property deteriorate and could be improved greatly with a little effort.

We had the most gorgeous stay at the cottage.

It had everything we needed for our stay, was so comfortable and homely and provided us with an escape to enjoy the beauty and serenity of Skye. Highly recommend and will definitely be making a return!

This was the second time we stayed at Beaton's Croft and it was just as wonderful as the first time.

It is such a lovely place; peaceful, cozy, clean, comfortable, relaxing in its simplicity and has everything you need for a break away from the stresses and commotion of daily life. Added bonus this time as we were lucky enough to be able to watch the northern lights from the garden.

A couple of issues of negative feedback.

One minor, one a bit more serious. On a light hearted note, the fridge in the kitchen was humming away nicely when we arrived. We sought some ice for our arrival G&&T in the freezer compartment. There was an ice tray but it was empty. I filled the tray for later in the week so no big deal but perhaps Housekeeper could fill the ice tray. Otherwise kitchen spotless and very well equipped. We wanted for nothing. On a slightly more serious note, we could not quite follow the instructions to find the hard standing parking. The gate opened by lifting a piece of string so we brought the car in off the road. The next morning, we got a bit bogged in the muddy grass trying to reverse out and lost traction. I lost my straight line going backwards and ended up taking out one of the gate posts. I think that the gate should be secured with a lock of some sort and better signage for the hard standing would help. Otherwise a really excellent stay in a gem of a place. We went to bed early and slept long in the morning. Thank you

The property was lovely and had a very interesting history, our research revealed quite a lot.

As for the cottage, it was situated in a quiet location, the interior was well decorated and furnished, simplicity was a key point. It exuded a lovely feel and perfect for relaxation. The view was outstanding looking out towards the Outer Hebrides. This was our first time staying in Skye, and we explored as much as we could in the two weeks we were there. A word of warning regarding the number of visitors to the island, incredible number who are impacting considerably on the environment and communities. Many are quite thoughtless. Tourism can be a double edged sword, and this applies to domestic and international tourism. Whether you can truly have sustainable tourism is a big question. We were sitting in the cottage one day (the door was locked), and someone had walked into the garden, looked around and tried to come into the property. My partner opened the door and asked what they wanted. The woman asked if it was a museum. My partner stated no. Tourist sites, including archaeological sites are well signposted in Scotland. Evidently the house was not a museum and was a private property. To prevent anything like this happening again the property owner needs to make it clear that it is a private property. Apart from that, we loved staying there.

It was a most delightful pleasure to stay in this beautifully kept historic cottage.

The location is simply stunning. The indoor space is surprisingly comfortable for two related to the historical „tiny house“ measures. Very friendly local contact and care. Absolute recommendation

Stayed at the cottage for our honeymoon and it was perfect!

With how secluded it was, with the wood burning stove, no TV or WiFi and the beautiful views, it was the perfect place to have a romantic getaway. It feels like a privilege to stay in a historical cottage like this.

Excellent for a break from a frantic life, so quiet, so remote.

The kitchen and its equipment (but no dishwasher) was fully functional and up to date, which is not often the case when renting a house.

Absolutely loved this cottage.

Cosy, comfortable and atmospheric. Position suited us perfectly. An access point through the broken stone wall from house to clothes line would be good.

A comfortable secluded House.

It was very clean and had everything we needed.There is no telly or WiFi but we had a good signal on o2.The weather was not great but we felt relaxed. We would visit again.

We noticed two windows wouldn’t lock (bedroom and kitchen) as we were only there three nights this only inpacted on our first night(very windy).

Apart for this we had a great time on Skye and in the cottage.

Lovely, clean, cosy and comfortable.

Very much enjoyed the TV/online-free week - cooking, reading and puzzles in front of the fire were what I wanted to do, and I know I would have watched TV/been online if that had been available as the weather was not ideal. It is clear in the listing that these are not available, and that's one of the reasons I booked. The Denby kitchen supplies are excellent. I've been wanting to book for years and it didn't disappoint. If it had been calmer (it was blowing a hoolie all week) I would have enjoyed sitting outside and star-gazing - maybe next time. Beaton's Croft is a wonderful little cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable in its cosy rooms. It proved to be a perfect starting point for beautiful hikes in the fantastic and diverse landscape of Trotternish peninsula.

We found the cottage comfortable and adequately equipped for our week’s stay.

We were aware that the location is remote, and found that the single track approach road was well supplied with passing places, but alarming to use when passing wide vehicles and especially people driving too fast.

A beautifully restored crofter's cottage just like the ones at the Museum of Island Life just up the road, but made inside neat and comfortable with every convenience.

Location was amazing. Internet or a TV would have been good for evenings. The sofa was a bit small and uncomfortable. Also seemed to be a bug issue in the bathroom.

We had a very enjoyable time.

The cottage is warm , cosy and draft free. The brand new kitchen has everything you need for your stay and the 6ft wide bed was very comfortable. All the furnishings and fittings inside are of a high quality without taking anything away from the original features in the Croft. Our EE phones didn’t work in the Croft because of the thick walls but did work by the windows and outside. All in all a great holiday and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the rush of modern life.

Idyllic property which provided everything we expected/ wanted and more.

Whether the half bottle of single malt was provided by NTS, or left by a previous occupant, it was also very much appreciated. Slainte. A small house with huge character, in a peaceful setting with good views.

Very cozy inside with a comfortable bed, nicely appointed kitchen and combined dining and seating area with a coal burning stove that helped to keep things warm! Having spoken to the property manager it must be a real labour of love to keep the house warm and dry through the Skye winters while retaining its authentic character, it was a privilege to stay in such a unique historic croft house. Skye information leaflets were useful, and the Museum of Island Life a few minutes up the road is a must see to get a sense of how the crofters lived.

A perfect base for a week's hillwalking.

Arrangements for access well-communicated. The cottage was very clean and comfortable with good kitchen facilities for self-catering. We loved the character of the place and the style of the conversion. It was a little frustrating not to have easy access to WiFi, but this was made very clear in the listing, so not a real problem as we were able to make alternate arrangements for access. Thank you!

Very cosy and adequate for our stay.

Enjoyed the quiet and stunning views. A small hiccup at the start in that we couldn't get in, annoying after a long drive. The cottage was supposed to be open with key inside. It was locked. Following loads of phone calls a lady turned up and opened up for us. Other than that all went well.

The stay self was delightful.

The accommodation was as expected, except for one thing. We had booked a twin occupancy, and underlined this again when I spoke to your operative on the telephone the week before we were due to arrive. We found the bed made up as a double. We were not able to locate anything that would allow us to remake the bed as twins. A small point perhaps, but we did book the cottage because it was advertised as a twin/double. On the plus side, your directions as to how to reach this remote location with perfectly adequate. Again on the plus side the accommodation was comfortable, clean, and warm, which I hadn’t expected. Full marks for that.

The only thing that I feel would be useful would be a shelf above the sink in the showroom as there was nowhere to put toothbrushes

Surprised by how scruffy the wooden floors were.

...need a good sand. Arm rests on the couch and armchair were grubby. Cutlery and crockery absolutely minimal. Tasteful curtains in rooms but effect ruined by a cheap turquoise bed side lamp. Toilet roll holder falling apart.. However the cottage itself was truly lovely and the setting magnificent. Pity about the interior. We have already booked a cottage with you next year but would like to be assured that the interior is of a higher standard. Pease reply
