  • "What an amazing house!"

We had a lovely family stay at Stackyard House. The property was clean, modern and in the perfect location for lots of dog walks. The village is lovely and quiet, with a nice pub down the road. The owner was excellent, definitely takes pride in the upkeep of the house and ensuring his guests have everything they need. The hot tub was great and extremely well maintained. The welcome gifts were a lovely touch, thank you! We will definitely be returning :-)

This was the perfect place to do it! We had a brilliant time and the house and gardens are perfectly clean and clearly well looked after! The location is perfect with a few pubs close by and some lovely countryside walks from the gardens. The hot tub is massive and could fit 6’people comfortably and was cleaned every day by the owner first thing on the mornings. I would highly recommend this place for a staycation and we will Definetly like to return at some point in the future!

TUDHOE

Spennymoor 1.5 miles; Durham 4.7 miles; Newcastle upon Tyne 21.7 miles.

Resting approximately five miles away from the city of Durham is the quiet village of Tudhoe. Situated just outside Spennymoor, this tranquil village was the formally the centre of a network of roads but is now a peaceful backwater with a green and a cul-de-sac that runs to the River Wear. The village was renowned in previous years for its mining history at Tudhoe Colliery, but is now home to a handful of shops, two pubs and a restaurant. Nearby, the town of Spennymoor offers plenty of attractions for all ages and abilities such as the Spennymoor Town Hall Art Gallery and The Axe House. The city of Durham is within easy reach and home to the magnificent Durham Cathedral, a popular attraction amongst tourists, as well an abundance of cafés and restaurants. The picturesque countryside surrounding Tudhoe also offers ample walking and cycling routes through Tudhoe Pinewood and the Cow Plantation nature reserve.
