When we arrived at the cottage and entered we found the cottage very clean , I did look around for a welcome pack which there was not one , the kitchen was well equipped with all essentials that were useful, the only small let down was the shower it did not have any power and the water only trickled out finding it very hard to have a good shower ,

We have stayed in many Sykes cottages from North Yorkshire and the Lake district down to Cornwall but this was without doubt the worst one we have ever stayed at.

The cotage itself is quaint and in a lovely area, ideal for exploring Yorkshire and beyond, however it is need of a good spring clean and some TLC. There were numerous cobwebs throughout the the cottage, crumbs and other food residue under the slate boards on the kitcen worktops and parts of the property were dusty. People have been mentioning the shower problem for at least 4 years but nothing has been done to resolve it, the water pressure is not weak it is ABYSMAL!!! you would get a better shower from a watering can with a rose head. At other cottages we have usually had a welcome pack and information pack which are really appreciated and helpful but there were neither at this cottage. We will definitely rent properties from Sykes Cottages again in the future but we will certainly never stay at this cottage again
