Description

Thirsk 7 miles.

Perched on the edge of the majestic North York Moors National Park and within striking distance of the picturesque Cleveland Way, is this endearing, stone-built cottage, The Byre.

This elegantly styled dwelling offers a superb base for a couple looking to escape city life and explore an area steeped with heather moorland, a dramatic coastline and a wonderful history.

Look forward to spending quiet evenings within the contemporary, open-plan living room, where you and your loved one can rustle up a home-cooked meal before sinking into the sofa to curl up in front of the smart TV.

As the evening draws to a close, drift off to sleep within the king-size bedroom which houses a bright interior to ensure that you wake up each morning to a tranquil surrounding.

The interior is completed by the stylish en-suite shower, housing a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

During the summer months, step outside to tuck into your breakfast within the shared courtyard, where you will find a charming spot for alfresco dining and enjoying the superb countryside views before strolling around the grounds where you will find stables containing a number of race horses.

There are numerous footpaths from the doorstep and the Cleveland Way is less than 500m away with an abundance of scenic walking routes and cycle hire and designated trails for all capabilities are available from the nearby Sutton Bank Visitor Centre.

Visit the Gliding Club at the top of the bank for a trial lesson and soar above the National Park or try some clay shooting and off road driving at Yorkshire Outdoors in Felixkirk.

Visit stately homes at Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall, abbey ruins at Rievaulx and Byland, and the World Heritage Site at Fountains Abbey.

Take a steam train from Pickering to Whitby or enjoy a day at the races available in Thirsk, Ripon and York.

The town of Thirsk can be reached in a short drive and offers numerous shops and inns serving local produce and traditional ales, along with the impressive Georgian buildings and a cinema.

It is also home to the James Herriot Museum which showcases the work of the town’s own famous vet and author.

Adding to your sight-seeing itinerary is the quaint town of Harrogate where you can explore the Valley Gardens or enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants or pubs.

The Byre promises a refreshing break for those looking to explore this part of the North Yorkshire.

Lovely little hideaway The Byre, it was just perfect for myself and husband and our little dog.

Nice little welcome pack of cookies and fresh baked lemon muffins. Everything as expected and clean. Would stay again

Lovely holiday cottage in a beautiful peaceful location.

Property was well equipped and the sofa and bed very comfortable. We much appreciated the welcome treat of homemade lemon muffins, they were delicious and also the basket containing biscuits, jams and tea, coffee and hot chocolate sachets. The Byre is in a good location with plenty of places to visit a short drive away, we spent a very enjoyable day at the national centre for birds of prey at Helmsley. Had lovely meals in the Feathers Hotel in Helmsley ant The Carpenters Arms at Felixkirk. My hubby being a racing fan enjoyed watching the horses going down to the gallops in the morning from the neighbouring racing stables. Would happily return.
