We had a great time at blacksmiths cottage right in the heart of grassington, the cottage was very comfy and had everything you needed cannot really fault it everything was on your doorstep.

Beautiful place to stay in Grassington.

We parked the car in the market square, (fortunate to get a parking space) and we didn’t need to move it throughout our stay. Blacksmiths Cottage is so central to everything. The cottage was immaculately clean and everything has been given some thought for people to enjoy their stay. Definitely return.

This cottage is an absolute slice of heaven! When we arrived, and from experience, we expected 'not as pictures displays '. But it was. And so much more! The whole ambiance is stylish, tres chic and very welcoming. The bed was huge and so comfortable. The kitchen was immaculate with more gadgets than you could ever use! There's a full size fridge freezer, a washing machine and even a dishwasher, which we didn't expect. The bathroom was sparkling and was a really good size. There are enough cleaning products to scrub a few mansions, let alone an apartment! But I'd brought my own, just in case! There's even a cabinet with books, games and a wide range of dvds. Everything for everyone. Sue, the iwner has thought of everything and is so helpful abd accommodating. Especially because I wasn't sure what time we were arriving and my own stresses. These were just a thing of my own stupid anxieties after her reassurances. We couldn't recommend Blacksmith Cottage highly enough! We're going to book again next year, and we can't wait to return!

It is very close to the village square . A little hard to find the right road down to it and in common with most properties in Grassington parking can be difficult.

The cottage is small but well equipped, clean and cental for everything. Ideal for a couple or a single and welcomes dogs. Will be back.

We had a great stay as usual .

The only down side was the noise from the people above at 6 am in the morning which we found a little much . Not a lot of consideration for the people downstairs . Other than that we enjoyed our stay .

Nice studio type room in the heart of Grassington.

Sympathetically furnished with a really comfortable bed. Holiday lets can be furnished with generic flat pack furniture, but this has really attractive old pieces, carefully chosen. Decent sized bathroom with adequate shower. Location couldn't be better. We occasionally heard the people in the flat above but not enough to be annoying. All in all, excellent.

We really enjoyed staying at this cottage in the centre of Grassington, close to all the amenities.

This is the second time we’ve stayed in the Blacksmiths in the last three weeks, and have stayed in Lotties Loft several times and we loved both.

We’ll be returning next year.

Really enjoyed our stay just had a problem when we arrived as didn't know 1940s weekend was on so all roads blocked also the photograph of garden was decieving as its only a small concrete patio looked much bigger on photo apart from that all good but wouldn't book again when the 1940s was on as we had to carry all luggage ect from top car park

Nice little touches around the place especially the bottle of wine on arrival . Bit on the pricey side and some more wardrobe space would have been good but nothing to complain about and we’d be very happy to stay here again

Blacksmiths cottage is a pet friendly ground floor apartment situated in a little road in the centre of grassington village which is beautiful.

You can't park outside the property, but the village central square is paces away. The village can get chokka on a Weekend and many shops are closed on a Monday instead. It was a lovely surprise when we went in, true to the photos. It was spotless and compact but had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay and well suited us. Personally I would alter some of the furnishings to create more space and make more of the room, but it was all thoughtfully done, clean and of very good quality and the bed was very comfortable. It was a cold and rainy April outside but we were cosy and warm. We were there for a week, but you could easily stay for much longer here. It wasn't the weather to sit out on the little patio, you wouldn't have been able to use the furniture as it was all damp & the little garden area needed a little tending as does ours this time of year. But we would definitely go back to this property. There are many cafès, and several pub/hotels in the village to choose from. We had a nice meal in the retreat tearooms/bistro and forresters arms , and an excellent meal in the black horse which was slightly more expensive. There is only 1 little Co-op for your basics. 5minutes along to Threshfield in the car there is an esso spar fuel station and shop. But neither are cheap so the locals do their big shop in Skipton which is worth a visit, only 25m away. Wherever you go it will be through stunning countryside, winding roads & some very steep hills and bends. Linton falls is just over the road and worth a walk. Bolton Abbey was just stunning. Those monks knew what they were doing when they chose where to build ! It's £15 for parking but don't let that put you off. Thats per car not person and its for the Abbey as well. Also worth visiting is beautiful little Burnsall, a hamlet next to the river Wharfe with an old bridge over and the red lion pub right on the riverbank where we had one of the best Sunday dinners ever. We walked along the riverbank which was beautiful and there is a lovely old church and 16th century school which is still in use. You do need a car ... or a bike... to get around this beautiful part of the country. The weather wasn't our friend on this trip, but blacksmiths cottage was

Lovely little cottage in the centre of Grassington.

Just a couple of minutes from all there is to see in the village. Reasonably clean cottage, with all the things you need for your stay. This is a down floor cottage with a property let above, which could be noisy at times with the creaky floorboards above. We were woken most nights in the middle of the night with people going to and from the loo. We also had to turn the boiler off at night as it sounded like a plane was taking off in the room when it clicked on! The only other issue is the lack of parking in the village, but the car park at the nearby visitor centre was accessible and cheap if you couldn’t get parked in the village centre. Lovely pubs, shops and cafes are welcoming and friendly, and the chippy which was 2 doors down from the cottage was great with lovely staff and good quality food. We would come back for another visit when we are next in the area. Love the Yorkshire Dales.

This cottage has everything you need.

You will want for nothing. Small but perfect for me and my dog or a couple. It is clean, comfortable and right in the middle of Grassington so convenient for everything. Car parking is difficult but i used the National Trust carpark for a small fee, but you can pull up outside cottage ,unload then go and park. Been before and will be back again soon.

It is an ideal base and a really well equipped cottage in the heart of Grassington.

The bottle of wine on arrival was a lovely touch. The cottage had modern additions such as Alexa, which was a welcome surprise. We would definitely book this cottage again for any future visits to the Dales. The only recommendation, we have for improvement would be information regarding recycling at the property itself (however we did make use of the recycling point on the village square). Free parking is not always available, however the national park carpark is a very short walk away, excellent pricing for a week and also allowed use at different national park authority car parks across the Dales.

Return visit to this special cottage, ideally situated in Grassington, although no allocated parking, never a problem getting parked at the top of the village.

Looking forward to returning again soon.

we took our newspapers home but left the glass and plastics in the kitchen as we did not want to put them out the rubbish bin.

The cottage was lovely, in the heart of the village.

One or two minor criticisms, the garden is a sun trap but was untidy, the chairs hadn’t been cleaned for the summer and the pots needed attention. The freezer was completely iced up and had food from previous holidaymakers. But we had a great stay and would visit again

We absolutely loved our stay in this gorgeous little cottage. Very clean and comfortable. It had all the facilities we needed for a weeks stay (could have stayed another week). Excellent location right in the heart of the idyllic village of Grassington. Great pubs, eateries, shops within a stones throw away. Ideal for a couple or single person. Excellent value for money. Just re-booked for March. Will be returning regularly.

A very compact cottage with everything anyone would need during their stay. Decor is very tastefully done. Love our stays in the cottage and look forward to a return visit. Only downside is no parking but manage to park not too far away.

Ideal for myself and the dog or a couple and a dog.

Everything great but the patio was unkept and overgrown so having evening drinks outside was not as nice as it used to be.

Very nice but small accommodation but ideal for a couple and one dog.

We did initially have an issue with the boiler but on calling the landlady this was sorted out very quickly. The location is perfect with fish and chip shop practically next door, several pubs and coffee shops within a couple of hundred yards and a well stocked Nisa store only a few minutes walk away. There is also a very informative free museum 100 yards away. The parking is not great, could not find a space on arrival but would highly recommend parking at the Dales visitor centre only about 10 minutes walk away, you can buy a weekly parking ticket for £15 but can use it in all the Yorkshire Dales and Richmond Council car parks. The village of Grassington is stunning and very friendly with several great walks nearby, if you wish to travel further afield I would recommend the Tan Hill Inn which is Britain's highest pub, we stayed there one night in the middle of our holiday, it is quite pricey but well worth the experience. If you've never visited the Dales before I would highly recommend both Grassington and Blacksmith's Cottage.

Everything you need is on your doorstep from shops, cafes, pubs and great walks. The property is brilliantly clean, comfortable and very well equipped with all you could need.

Perfect location and Cottage

Although it was very nice, I wouldn't say it was suitable for a walking holiday or for a dog really, especially given you walk straight into a small kitchen area straight off the main road.

Therefore the kitchen floor gets very dirty very quickly and particularly un-hygienic especially when you have a dirty dog and soaking wet walking clothes.

This is a lovely cottage which has been thoughtfully decorated throughout and being in the centre of Grassington is ideal for eating out or exploring the fantastic surrounding countryside.

The bed was comfortable, the furniture was well considered and we enjoyed the addition of Alexa music! The kitchen area was thoughtfully laid out with everything you need for a week’s holiday. It was also novel and enjoyable for us to stay right in the middle of such a gorgeous village. So, we would like to thank the owner for a truly comfortable little place to stay.

Although compact the property had all the facilities for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Parking is very limited in the town but we never had an issue that required more than a minutes walk. (This is pretty much the same for everyone) We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again

Had a very enjoyable 5 day stay in this studio cottage.

Very relaxing and perfectly located in Grassington. The cottage contains everything you may need and perfect for two people. Although you can hear if someone is in the upstairs cottage, it didn’t disturb or spoil our stay. Would love to return.

Really enjoyed our stay, lovely little self contained accommodation in a great location.

The garden is overhung by some very large trees from the neighbouring church yard however which was a shame for us in mid summer, but there is more than enough outside space near-by to enjoy.

As has been mentioned before, the only downside to the cottage studio is that noise from the upstairs flat can be heard whenever people are moving around.

It wasn't too intrusive when we were there but could be a problem if the inhabitants were particularly noisy. This would be difficult to remedy but perhaps should be emphasised in the Spec. Other than that the cottage has everything possible and was very comfortable and well equipped.

Felt bigger than imagined due to clever use of mirrors. Great location for walking and cycling, with a rear courtyard to keep the bikes in. If I had to find any criticism it would be we had to buy a cafetière for our morning coffee fix but that was all we could find to criticise

The cottage was perfect and centrally located but still quiet.

Very comfortable, and despite not being the largest place it was well equipped, well decorated and actually we started there with two adults 1 child and a dog and there was enough room. The separate kitchen and space for a table and chairs where nice to have. Definitely stay here again!!

Excellent location close to Grassington centre.

Good location for visiting nearby tourist attractions. Good shopping experience. Warning for the future: It is probable that parking restrictions will be brought into force in the village. This will mean that parking in the centre will be restricted to 2 hours maximum on parking meters. Long stay parking will be either at the top of the village or the National park car park at foot of the village (charges apply), both car parks are approx. 10 minutes away.

The only issue staying at Grassington is the lack of parking, which we were unaware of until we arrived.

The accommodation was very good, clean and comfortable.

Firstly the description of this property as a cottage, when it is plainly no more than a bed sit, was blatantly misleading.

Oven was so in need of a good clean, it set off the fire alarm every time we used it and there was a shortage of oven ware. Shared access to the garden does not work when both sets of occupants have dogs, so great care was needed when letting dogs out. First few days went ok, till the bedsit above was let, and due to the presumably wooden floors, it sounded like a herd of wildebeest had moved in. We could hear every time the occupants moved, and that included night time toilet visits. This was the final straw, and we left two days early. To be fair, despite the property being tiny, it was warm and reasonably comfortable, but severely let down by the above points. Second cottage in in less than six months booked with Sykes, in my opinion lacking in several aspects, will make me thing long and hard before any repeat booking.

The cottage was beautiful.

Cosy on a evening. Everything you needed at hand. Cleanliness was of high standard too. Tv could of done to be up graded poor reception on all channels. And one side of the enormous bed had seen better days husband was sliding out at one side. Would recommend to friends. Thank you for a enjoyable stay. Village was wonderfull too.

It is called a cottage but it's a studio, and the photos were really deceptive and made the place look much bigger than it was.

As is actually a cottage split into 2 it was very noisy when there was people up stairs.

The cottage was just perfect, it was cosy, very clean, very close to the square, but best of all it was dog friendly.

The accommodation is a perfectly comfortable, well appointed ground floor bedsit.

We stayed 3 nights at the opening weekend of the Grassington festival and this place is slap bang in the middle of the town. Uphill on one side of you is the old enigmatic graveyard, and going downhill next door but one you have an excellent chippy (didn't smell and is only open a couple of hours a day) and best of all next to this is the Blackhorse. You may think, like me, that's perfectly located, but then there are 3 more pubs within a couple of minutes of this, all the fine arts and crafts shops, and also tearooms aplenty if you like that type of thing. If you like to sit in or drink tea in the garden then this is not really the place for you to stay. However this is Grassington, it's in the Yorkshire Dales, so who in their right mind is going to stay in. We like to walk too and there are numerous great walks from Grassington. We hiked to Kettlewell and back via Conistone Dib and the following day we did a walking tour of the local villages - Linton, Thorpe, Burnsall, Hebden - and then a gentle stroll down the Wharf back to Grassington. We have stayed all over the dales in many types of cottages and this is probably the smallest but we would stay here again. Oh and the locals will make you feel so welcome.

The location of the cottage was a bit restrictive for parking but the Town Square was ideal to park only a small away.

The village was lovely and located in a nice part of North Yorkshire. We will be back sometime soon.

I didn't realise the whole property was one big room until opening the front door.

The town and surrounding area well exceeded our expectations and was an area we will reconsider visiting on our next trip to England.

Very cosy cottage.

Owner very helpful and solved broadband issue. Quite noisy due to occupants above but owner is already looking in to further soundproofing. Not much parking very near cottage but excellent solution was weekly parking permit in Dales National Car Park about 5 mins away - but well worth it as gave free parking in all other Dales car parks. Excellent food in village. Would highly recommend.

The cottage was lovely and ideally situated for Grassington village.

We loved it however, there isn't a facility for parking your car at the cottage which it appears has put some people off from booking again. We knew the village so expected this but it may be better to say in the information about where you can park so that it isn't a bad surprise when people get there. The parking wasn't too far away but it was a little walk. However, you can stop outside the cottage to load and unload your car but as the road is single track, not for very long. It is 2 doors down from the Black Horse pub, which is lovely and convenient and there wasn't any noise from it at all. Because of the thick walls of the cottage there was hardly any outside noise at all and it was lovely and cosy. The most noise came from the people walking about upstairs and one night when the tumble dryer was put on which vibrated downstairs and did keep us awake. Some people, in the visitors book, had said that the bed was awful. it wasn't awful but I think the mattress either needs changing or turning over as over time there are definite dips in it where people have slept and this could be a bit uncomfortable. After finding my `spot' though it was fine. Everything that I needed in the cottage was provided including some lovely towels, which was a nice surprise as we have had some very thin ones in the past. It was very well presented and clean too. The nice touch was the bottle of wine left which went down very well. Overall though we had a lovely time and would definitely go back to Grassington.
