Darrowby Barn

Our stay at the Farrowby Barn was incredibly pleasant.

The property was clean and really well maintained. It had everything you would need for your stay. The decor was so cozy and comfy and very easy to relax in. The location is superb! The village is so beautiful and perfect for exploring the shops and restaurants. Ideal to sit for a drink or a coffee and right at the door step. We hiked the Dales on the trail at the National Park and the scenery and views were breathtaking. A trip we will never forget! Thank you!

Lovely barn with everything you could possibly need.

Very comfortable and very clean . Lovely location- easy access to nearby attractions Only down side is the parking- fine for us but would be difficult if elderly.

We loved Darrowby Barn and had a very pleasant stay.

The beds were especially comfortable. Lovely powerful showers. Everything we needed. We did wonder if a little more advice could be given as to the cobbled lane that led to the barn. We eventually drove in from the main road leading off the Main Street although our Satnav did not initially take us this way. Once we unloaded the car we attempted to drive on past the cottage whereas it would have been more sensible to reverse back out of the lane. Large vehicles would certainly need to do this.

We had a lovely stay in this property and would certainly return if the opportunity arose.

Very comfortable and ideally placed to explore Grassington.

Beautiful accommodation with all required amenities.

Well located in the town with easy access to the parking area. Very comfortable bedrooms with en-suite. Living area is well presented with easy to use appliances. The only problem, more of an observation than a complaint was that there was no bread knife. Highly recommended cottage, we would have no hesitation to stay here again. Only criticism was the farmers market was rubbish.

Brilliant location and no bother to us parking at the parks car park.

Heating worked well even on a cold week. Perhaps some direction to getting to the property as we followed the sat nav into 2 very narrow snickets. A simple go up Main Street and turn left at the green shop at the top of the street! Also another egg cup please! Fantastic weeks walking and lovely to come back to a cosy house. Grassington House provided an exceptional meal too! Thank you

Lovely stay, Darrowby Barn is in a perfect location in the centre of Grassington village.

This is our 3rd visit to this property and it never disappoints.

Excellent location, tastefully decorated with everything we needed for a great holiday.

Will definitely return!

Our second stay at lovely Darrowby Barn .

And as before everything spotlessly clean, warm and very comfortable . Lots of lovely walks around Grassington and we made use of the local buses to get us around. Great places to eat and drink and we had a lovely meal at the new Tapas Bar. We hope to return again. Thanks Andy

We had a great week, fantastic location.

Everything we needed for an escape in a place we love. Parking was no problem at all. We hope to return for some more quality time

Lovely cottage, clean and well equipped.

Owner was friendly and helpful when he rang with key safe details. Walking distance to shops and amenities. Would highly recommend

A great cottage / barn conversion with all the facilities one would want.

Very clean and modern interior but in keeping with the age of the barn. An excellent location in the wonderful village of Grassington.

A very beautiful property in the heart of Grassington.

The barn has been tastefully decorated and is very comfortable. The living space is vast and the kitchen is lovely with everything provided. The showers are fantastic and the beds comfortable. We enjoyed having en suites. The owner was very friendly when he called a few days before to provide check in information. Access was very easy in to the property. The property is situated down a cobbled lane and has quite a steep, curved staircase which was challenging for an elderly member of our group who has mobility issues but that is no reflection on the property or the beautiful stay we had. Local pubs, cafes, shops are all in abundance and the local people are very welcoming.

The property was first class and very comfortable.

A change of towels would have been useful.

An excellent and well appointed 2 bedroom cottage in the picturesque village of Grassington.

The property was spotlessly clean, spacious and equipped to a very high standard. We all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, we will be back !

Lovely Barn, perfect location, we had a great stay

Beautiful cottage with loads of character and modernised to a very high standard.

We loved our stay which was very peaceful and relaxing in a stunning part of the world. Perfect for walking and cycling as well as enjoying the buzz of Grassington and it’s excellent pubs.

Excellent location , great facilities

Had such a lovely time in Grassington!

Darrowby Barn is lovely and modern with some great features. Everything you need for a comfortable stay, bed really comfortable too. Only criticism is to have bigger mirrors in the bedroom, really difficult to dry your hair or do makeup with the tiny mirrors. There is a longer one in the hall but no sockets.Definitely worth booking again though with everything on your doorstep

Such a beautiful place to stay, warm and comfortable with everything you need.

Communication was excellent with Andy, we loved it and didn’t want to leave!

Fantastic property, beautiful location.

Lovely cosy comfortable property.

Well equipped .... no milk jug though

Lovely barn conversion in Grassington, tucked away along a cobbled lane.

Very clean, comfortable and cosy. We loved our few days there. It felt very homely.

A fabulous property in an amazing location.

All you could need for a perfect weekend away. Great facilities in the barn, very warm and welcoming with contact before the break with the owner to pass on details to us. Lots of lovely walks and great places to eat and drink too. We will definitely be back

Just returned from a fabulous week staying at Darrowby Barn.

Spotlessly clean, modern and spacious with everything we needed. Super location in beautiful Grassington with walks from the doorstep. We did several local walks left by the owners and they were fabulous. Longer walks to Appletreewick (great pub Craven Arms) and Burnsall (lovely Tea Shop!) Also a great location to travel a little further afield by car if you wish, we visited Brimham Ricks and Fountain Abbey/Studley Royal Gardens and Deer Park - definitely worth the visits. Always found somewhere to park as permits supplied by owners Thank you for sharing your lovely holiday home with us we loved every minute!

Beautiful barn conversion, very cosy & comfortable.

Building was to a high standard, kitchen was well equipped & clean. Beds were very comfortable & clean, towels were also clean & the en-suites were great! Darrowby Barn was somewhere we enjoyed coming back to in the evening with lovely walks on the doorstep!! We would book again if we were coming to the area!

Such a fabulous place.

The barn is immaculate and it was beautifully presented. It has clearly been renovated to a high standard. Andy the owner is a lovely chap and he was very helpful in answering any queries we had in advance of our stay. The parking was not an issue at all. The owner provides two parking permits for the main car park, however we always managed to park one of the cars in a free parking space very near to the property. I would highly recommend this cottage.

Beautiful accomodation .

The photos on thie website do not do it justice. A wonderful few days with our family from Canada. Thank you

Beautiful and very comfortable barn conversion.

Great location in a lovely little village with country walks nearby.

Excellent property in an excellent location.

Almost every aspect of Darrowby barn was ideal, we liked the position, the thoughtful conversion etc.

. What we did NOT like was the lack of parking facilities and for that reason alone we would not return to Darrowby barn.

Everything was fine only comment I would make is there should be a blind on the front door we had such a great time we have booked again for a week in June 2025

A beautiful comfortable barn conversion.

Well equipped with everything you need. Comfy beds and lovely bedding. We had a couple of issues but were rectified immediately by the lovely owner. So convenient for walks and pubs. We were even lucky to catch a few days of filming for ‘all creatures great and small’. Such a lovely house to relax in with friends. Thank you.

Gorgeous comfortable and clean cottage.

Ideal location and quiet! Will definitely stay again

Extremely comfortable, well equipped property in the lovely village of Grassington which is an excellent base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales and beyond.

A most enjoyable stay in a great location.

Thanks for a clean, comfortable and well equipped holiday home.

Fabulous barn conversion.

Great place to stay. Loved it, will definitely be back.

A beautiful barn conversion close to centre of village but in a quiet lane.

Accommodation was spotlessly clean, warm and extremely comfortable. Great location for local pubs and cafes. We tried a few and they were all good! Ideal base for walks both local and further afield. Local buses worked well. We had a lovely time and would not hesitate to return.

Darrowby Barn is a lovely conversion in a beautiful village and we had a nice relaxing New Year even managed to get some walking in despite the awful weather.

There were some issues with our stay that need addressing to make the stay better. Listed in order of severity and importance. 1. The guttering right above the front door has separated at the joint and because the weather was so bad there was a constant stream of water pouring down right in front of the door. 2. The first floor cloakroom would have been very handy, but the door is warped (or swollen) and does not close at all, this made the cloaks unusable for mixed company and we used it for storage. 3. The next issue has been mentioned before in previous reviews and we felt warranted another mention - The front door needs some kind of blind or maybe opaque glass/film - it feels very exposed especially during the hours of darkness. 4. This next point was very relevant during our wet weather stay - the very small mat at the front entrance is inadequate. The entrance hall was constantly wet and we ended up putting newspapers down. 5. Starter pack - there were no logs left as stated and one toilet roll in each bathroom we felt was a little stingy in a 'high end' holiday cottage. 6. Welcome pack - we have stayed in many Sykes Cottages and are used to getting a welcome pack which we feel is a nice touch. This time we got a pint of milk and four biscuits. 7. Minor point - No milk jug? Please note, these points have been highlighted to help improve the property for any future guests. We enjoyed our stay in Darrowby Barn and would recommend it providing the points raised were resolved.

We loved Darrowby Barn!

It is right in the village so walking to everywhere is great. Everything was clean and really cosy and just what we wanted for a beautiful holiday in the Yorkshire Dales. Parking permits provided for the main car park just a short walk away. We were able to unload at the door (very narrow cobbled lane). The lounge/dining was so lovely. But we couldn't really watch the TV from the sofa as it was a bit far away for us. Personally would switch the lounge/dining areas. One thing that would have helped is a 'Dummies guide' to using the induction hobs and oven, and also the washer/dryer. But overall we loved everything about the cottage. These comments are super picky but only because it was so lovely and would love to come back again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Darrowby Barn.

It is really warm and comfortable, the kitchen is well stocked and the location is fantastic. A couple of minutes walk from the centre of the village and with a myriad of walks nearby. The beds are super comfortable and in fact we looked at the make and model of the mattresses for future reference for ourselves! The owners were very contactable and friendly and any small issues were sorted almost instantaneously. We would not hesitate to stay here again - and we very high standards. There are perhaps just a couple of small things to be aware of. The televisions do not have terrestrial channels only Apps and Catch Up such as iplayer and more4. There is no dishwasher. The description does not mention that there is so we should have realised, but given that the accommodation is of such a high standard that did catch us out a bit as we do like to cook and eat in. As has been mentioned previously it would be nice to have long mirrors in the bedrooms and it would also perhaps have been helpful to have had some small shelves in the bathrooms. However these are small niggles - overall our impression was of a beautiful well maintained property that we would love to stay in again if we returned to the area.

This is one of the nicest, cleanest and most modern cottages that I have stayed in.

It was also in a fabulous location and very quiet. The kitchen was well stocked and it was good to have instructions in the drawer for appliances. The cottage was toasty warm, even without the fire lit. There were many plug sockets in the bedroom (a lovely change) and good lighting. If we had to say anything negative, it would be minimal.... it would be great to have a full length mirrors in the bedrooms (plenty of room on the walls), even though there is one in the hall way (which we were fighting for at one point lol) and a blind at the front door window would be good. All in all a gorgeous place to stay.

Cottage in immaculate condition.

A little difficult to find, as it is tucked away. Parking available within 100 yards, however, I suspect finding spaces might be difficult in high season.

Absolutely beautiful, well appointed barn conversion.

Equipped with everything you need to have the perfect stay. Very good interaction with the owners. Would have no hesitation recommending this property.

This is a beautiful place to stay.

Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Just a two minute stroll from the central area yet also very quiet and the sound of swallows in the morning. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting access to fabulous walking alongside nice coffee shops and dining. We ate at the Blackhorse which was excellent. A highlight of my holiday to the UK. Thanks a lot Andy.

The property was beautiful inside, it had everything you needed !

Being located right in the centre of Grassington was just the perfect location ! Would certainly return and stay at Darrowby barn again

The barn was absolutely stunning and renivated to an ncredibly high standard.

Brilliant location fot the dales. Foid at The Drovers was delicious too.

A beautiful house in the centre of lovely Grassington village which ment being able to easily walk to the shops, pubs and cafes Everything in the house was spotless and had all we needed.

Possibly a hand rail on the stairs would help rather than holding on to the glass bannister. House situated in the small lane behind the woodcutter shop - our sat nav was no use but the local postman was - for drop off. Parking at the busy weekend was not easy but we always managed to find a spot using the parking passes for the National car park 10 minutes away. Lovely walks nearby and good bus service Will certainly recommend and hopefully return.

The property is immaculate, warm, comfortable and very well equipped.

Conveniently located at the top end Grassington. The owners are helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend to others.

A lovely property in an excellent location, highly recommended

A comfortable,warm high end accomodation.

We had a fab stay in the centre of grassington with a good variety of walks and places to eat. Would live to come back.

Comfortable spotless well supplied accommodation in a friendly welcoming village.

As seniors we felt the staircase with the glass surrounding would have been better for our age group with a handrail. We mostly enjoyed our stay at the barn

Just had a wonderful 3 nights stay in Darrowby barn.

Location was perfect for walking and a quick 2 minute stroll to the main high street and local pubs which are ideal for eating out should you not wish to cook. Could not fault the accommodations or equipment within the barn and sitting by the log fire on a wet evening was an absolute pleasure. Would have no hesitation to rebook Darrowby barn when next visiting the Yorkshire dales, thank you.

Darrowby Barn has been converted to a very high standard.

We were delighted to be staying there. The owners have got it just right and I'm sure whoever stays there will be as delighted as we were. We certainly recommend.

The property itself we couldn't fault, the furnishing was top grade and the location was excellent with everything on the doorstep.

The downside was that because it was so new there was a lack of information for the property especially for the hightec appliances and the TV's in the bedrooms did not work. There was also no parking permit as described and parking can be an issue but I belive the permit is now available. Given time and the teething problems sorted out this property will be a good place to stay.

Accommodation was stunning with everything at a very high standard and close to all the local pubs and shops.

We enjoyed our stay but was spoilt by lack of parking. Advertised as nearby parking available, permits supplied. ( No permits supplied ) Biggest issue is available parking in the area of which was a daily struggle from 8am onwards.

This a beautifully appointed property in a great location.

Although you cannot park outside other than to unload, nearby parking is easily available. Although we had no difficulty in finding the parking it might be useful to provide simple directions along with any other "good to know" information in a welcome pack. In addition it would be good to let visitors know about the local NISA store which is very handy to use.
