Moscow Mews

Moscow Mews was much bigger inside than it appeared & very nicely furnished - we had trouble keeping warm though as we had to set the boiler but it only heated up once, luckily it was warn enough later in the week.

There was lack of instructions, no welcome pack, no handrail for steep stairs and the upstairs bannister rail was loose.. There was no signposting on the entrance drive which it needs as we kept missing it when driving past. We took ready meals & ate at The White Horse Inn which did good food

Moscow Mews cottage was great.

Very spacious, lovely and warm. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely enclosed garden which was great for the dogs. Three nice pubs about half a mile away in different directions. It’s situated in a great area for visiting places of interest and walking. Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again

Spacious and comfortable place to stay that was clutter free and cared for.

Lots of starve for clothes and an enclosed back garden which I’d have loved to sit in on a warmer evening! It was definitely roomy enough for six- there was 3 of us and a dog

The ensuite bedroom is a great attraction, as is the downstairs lavatory. We enjoyed the outdoor seating area and garden. The owner was very accommodating. A suggestion - a handrail for the stairs.

A fab accommodation just a few things need attention outside seating needs some attention and the noisy oven this did not affect our stay however would definitely re visit

La casa es cómoda para un grupo, pero le falta mantenimiento, mucho mantenimiento.

Hay cosas que están muy deterioradas. Aún así es una casa cómoda para pocos días, con duchas estupendas, camas cómodas y amplias zonas de estar. Tampoco tiene un equipamiento adecuado, por ejemplo no hay cafetera y el ajuar de cocina está viejo y pobre. La placa está muy sucia, el horno, viendo desde fuera es que ni lo tocamos. Platos y tazas sucias entre lo guardado. (No importa, compramos pastillas para el lavavajillas y lo lavamos todo antes de usar) En fin, que necesita reparaciones (muchas) y renovación de cosas estropeadas o viejas, a pesar de todo para tres noches, nos adaptamos.

This was our 4th time here.

The property is huge, a lovely garden for a dog and great location. We have always loved staying here but this time we had quite a few issues. Unfortunately the property needs a lot of maintenance and this let it down. The owner eventually offered some compensation but our stay was impacted.

Ruthanne has been really kind and accommodating our family’s needs and I greatly appreciate it.

A warm and cosy cottage with an ideal garden for dogs.

Its situated just off the main road,so nice and quiet.Its not far from places of interest.We enjoyed our stay.

The property is amazing, it's large internally and the added bonus is the rear garden that you can sit out in, enjoy the Sun or stars in the evening.

The property is well maintained, with very comfortable sofas and beds. The wood burner in the lounge makes for cosy evenings with a beer and wine. Our dog loved it here, cross the road and you can walk your dog alone a very quite country road with brilliant views, look out for the horses in the field on the left. The pub is walking distance, 10 minutes along the road, turn left and at T junction turn right and you are around 100 yards from the pub. Moscow Mews is off the beaten track, yet not far from Thornton, Bradford, Halifax and Skipton. Haworth is around 15 minutes by car and well worth a visit.

Lovely property, very clean , loads of space, great for families or couples.

Moscow Mews is spacious and well-furnished throughout, with a very secure garden for our dog once we had noticed that the side gate had been left open prior to our arrival.

We appreciated the welcome pack of two bottles of water and a packet of biscuits. However, photos are available of a number of shortcomings that should have been dealt with previously. Many should not to have been an issue if Sykes’ property inspector(s) had been more meticulous in their work. A direction sign at the end of the access lane would be very helpful to find the property when you first arrive. There are no “rural views” from the sunken patio and its furniture, as is alluded to in Sykes’ website, as you must stand well up the lawn to see over the fence. We had to tidy and bin the old dog dirt found in the garden upon our arrival. Our dog spent time exploring the back garden each day and had to be rubbed dry in the kitchen after even the shortest time there due to the long, uncut grass. The lawns were mowed mid-week, but a large amount of the clippings was left on the grass so we had to brush our footwear clean after every sortie outdoors to avoid spreading grass cuttings throughout the house. Is this why there was a dustpan and brush outside the back door? The bed in the ensuite room has a very hard mattress and the room’s door frame has what looks like a major subsidence crack about one inch wide on the right-hand side as you enter. The cracks continue across the ensuite’s tiled floor and are also visible in the tiled window sill at its right-hand end. The bedroom door onto the landing will not shut as a result of the movement of the property. The step into the room should have its edge highlighted as it is hard to see when entering the room in the dark due to the position of the light switch. (The same comment is true of the steps into the additional living room, downstairs.) One bedside light has no means of being used as there is no wall socket within reach of its wire! Soap scum and hair were found in the shower area of the separate bathroom. We were very surprised to find discarded yogurt containers and what looked like the seal from one of these bottles in the top drawer of the furniture in the other double bedroom. A major problem is the complete lack of instructions for the kitchen appliances, meaning we had to call our host (as helpful as she could be) to find out how to switch on the cooker. We also had to throw away a proportion of our food as the fridge is set to be so cold that it freezes food solid and there were no instructions to show how to adjust its settings. Other guests have also commented on the urgent need to provide these very necessary booklets. Numerous items of crockery are badly chipped and had to be put to one side as they are not fit for use, while the pans are in urgent need of replacement as they are so badly scored that their non-stick surfaces detach into your food if you use them. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting TV’s Cannon Hall Farm near Barnsley, Shibden Hall and its park in Halifax, the Bronte Parsonage in nearby Haworth and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. We also highly recommend the delicious home-made food at Cliffe Castle Pavilion in Keighley. We loved having access to the local footpath network from just outside the property's front gate. Great for walking our dog

This is our 2nd time we have stayed at Moscow Mews, it is an enchanting cottage with all the facilities you require for your holiday.

Added bonus of staying this time of year watching the baby lambs in the field from the master bedroom

We turned up in the dark.

No lights or heating on. The place is ideal for large family or group. Too big for couples. Bedroom mattress where black duvet cover and en suit were desperately needs replacing. You feel every spring. Need to have an instruction manual for operate items. Need signage to show where to drive upto the property. Area not stayed in before. Had lovely walks.

Our second time staying here and won't be the last.

We arrived here after dark so it was a little tricky to find.

The information said the house was done a driveway but this was hard to spot. We did eventually find it and on entering, the house was lovely. It was clean, everything we needed was there and there was plenty of space for the 5 of us. The welcome tray of goodies was a lovely touch too. The 2 double rooms were gorgeously done and again loads of room in them. The room with the 2 single rooms was a great space but we just had to watch our heads on the bed in the far corner. One thing I would like to suggest is a bed guard. Our 4 year old sometimes, still falls out of bed so one of those available in the house would be great. The extra lounge was a great space especially with the arcade game machine. My husband was very excited by that and our girls had a pacman competition! The surrounding area is quiet and peaceful which is what we needed. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely visit again.

Moscow mews is a lovely old property.

.Ruthanne is a brilliant host very friendly. The cottage was very comfortable , warm and cosy. . very clean. It had everything needed for an enjoyable week away from home. The enclosed back garden is fab for the dogs. We really enjoyed our stay, we lived in Thornton a few years back and it was great to catch up with friends and family and walk to allerton and around our old 'haunts' best holiday we've had in a long time :o)

We loved Moscow mews, it was perfectly placed to visit Howarth and also Halifax.

The cottage outdid our expectations, we loved it. It was much bigger than we thought and expected, the pictures don't do it justice. The owner was lovely, she couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely be going again to explore more of the stunning area.

Kids loved playing on retro arcade games in the second lounge. We enjoyed walking the dog in the surrounding walks & walking to local pub Ring of Bells for lovely food & were even invited to join their jubilee celebrations.

This is a great place to stay if you want to be outdoors in the countryside.

Three local pubs within walking distance, and local walking paths. If I was to recommend anything to this property then it would be to add a stair rail to the steps which would be very helpful for elderly guests and have some coat hangers for coats and jackets. Since we rented at winter time we were constantly wrapping up for the cold weather and had no where to hang our coats except over the furniture. Other than that Ruth Ann the owner was extremely accommodating and helpful always making sure we were okay.

Stayed at Moscow Mews from 2nd to 9th November as working in local area; thankfully owners accepted a last minute booking and we’re also very helpful with local knowledge of places to eat out and shop.

Accommodation was very comfortable with all home amenities. Welcome pack was also a very nice touch; thank you for a great stay and would definitely return.

We appreciated the 'goodies' we found on arrival and we were greeted by a very friendly hostess.Directions to the cottage could be a little clearer-it is tucked away and easy to miss.However we enjoyed our short stay and found the surrounding countryside to be very pleasant.

There were a few little things that needed attention on arrival, however the owner was very helpful.

We had a great week - chose Moscow Mews for two reasons, it was very dog friendly and the location suited us for combining holiday with visits to family in neighbouring East Yorkshire.

If you are a dog person - Moscow Mews is for you, it has french doors opening onto a secure back garden; there is also an open front garden area and parking area, which leads directly to a pathway (fenced on one side and walled on the other) taking you down to the road and a number of other walks -our dog just loved it, If you are not travelling with dogs, the interior facilities might be a bit tired/basic for you. That said, there is certainly plenty of space and it was all warm, clean and tidy. Downstairs, there are two sitting areas, a small toilet, and a large kitchen diner. Upstairs, three bright, spacious bedrooms, one en-suite and a family bathroom - both with excellent showers. The king size beds were a bit hard for our aging bones, so we used the twins, which were very comfortable. The owner kept in touch to check we were ok, and she left a very nice selection of welcome goodies to keep us going.

Moscow Mews is a brilliantly appointed cottage with plenty of room for six adults.

On arrival we were greeted by our lovely host and were delighted to find freshly laid eggs, biscuits, milk, orange juice and wine waiting for us in the kitchen. The bedrooms are all well sized and comfortable and the view from the master suite is the icing on the cake. The bathrooms are clean and modern and there is plenty of hot water and good pressure in the showers. Downstairs there are two comfortable lounges, one with a charming wood burning stove and the other with a retro gaming table and a big screen smart TV. So whether you want to snuggle by the fire or watch the latest show on Netflix you are well sorted. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need including that most illusive of holiday rental kit, good sharp knives. The rear garden has seating for at least six and would have been great for outside dining but the weather prevented us from trying that. The location of the cottage is brilliant for exploring the many delights West Yorkshire has to offer and is within comfortable driving range for Halifax, Bradford, Hebden Bridge, Huddersfield and Leeds. There are two good pubs within walking distance which were open when we visited (the White Horse and the Ring O Bells) sadly the Rock n Heifer was not open but looked very interesting. The two pubs which were open do excellent food which is available for take away as well as eating in. Social distancing is taken very seriously in the area and most tourist attractions have sanitation stations and one way systems to help keep visitors and staff safe. I would not hesitate to recommend Moscow Mews and look forward to returning as there is still much we didn’t get to see in this lovely piece of the world. Oh and if you do stay here make sure to check out the egg honesty box as there are many delights to be purchased, including the best red cabbage I’ve tasted since my grandma’s.

This is the second cottage rental we have had through Sykes and have found the service provided to be excellent.

The properties are accurately described and reasonably priced. Considering the increase in people vacationing in the UK this year, it was good to find that Sykes and their owners maintained their normal prices, unlike many other companies. I will definitely look for future rentals through Sykes again.

We had a really bad time last year in one of your properties and so we were very nervous this time.

Also we really wanted Anglesey so we’re disappointed we could only get Yorkshire. However, this holiday has been one of the most relaxing ones I’ve ever had. The house is amazing and I can’t wait to return!! The welcome pack left was lovely and the house was just perfect. So very happy and glad that we went there!! Thank you.

From the beginning of this holiday to the end it was AMAZING!

Me and my friends had come to stay for my 23rd birthday at this beautiful spacious cottage. When we arrived we we noticed they had left fresh eggs that were layed the same day, loaf of bread, oreos packet (my all time favourite), butter, jam, honey and a bottle of wine! The host helped us in terms of getting us bits and bobs that were'nt in the house such as cellotape for stickign up banners, the host was very approchable and worked to satisfied our every needs. She was also really quick when responding to text and calls. The place was beautiful inside, it gave off a really cosy feeling. the garden space was also enough for a bbq and playign mini games, there was nice seating spaces wit comfortable cushions. Our afternoon walks in the country side were really relaxing and had amazig views. The bedroom which has a en suite bathroom had amaing window views and was so nice to wake up in the morning. I live about 120 miles away from the place, and would 100% make the effort to come back with friends again in the future. Thank you for having us and letting us stay as your beautiful property.

The location of the property just sets in a peaceful and relaxing area overseeing the beautiful hills and valleys of the Dales. How can i forget the master bedroom with ensuite, just amazing. Sitting on the patio and listening to birds chirping was just the most beautiful sounds. Looking forward to booking again in the future.

The place is great too. Instructions on some of the appliances could be helpful, especially for the central heating control (we eventually found it at top of stairs), the large TV and the cooker hob. We also managed to get matches for the fire place from the neighbour.
