Lair Close Cottage

We very much enjoyed our stay at Lair Close cottage, I personally could have looked at the view all day so peaceful and relaxing, our little pooch had a great time in very safe surroundings and he loved being out in the garden

We really enjoyed our stay at Lair Close Cottage.

There is enough parking for one vehicle outside. Inside we found it to be bright and clean. We were fortunate to have lovely weather so we could enjoy the garden each day which has garden furniture and a table with chairs and seating in the front. It's a very peaceful relaxing place to stay for a short break. We stayed for a week and it's an excellent base for many places to visit in North Yorkshire. We want to return again next year. There is no freezer at the cottage but apart from that everything is there for you. This property can be booked with the house next door for a large family/number of guests. Pets are welcome which was perfect for us as we take our cat on holiday.

Enjoyed our stay, our for dog love the view from the balcony stairs watching the horse and wildlife!

We chose this property for a short break because it's ideally situated for the places we wanted to visit.

The property is quite small but plenty big enough for 2 and has a beautiful view out of the back. It was also very peaceful. Thank you to the reviewer who pointed out there are no oven gloves. We took our own!

Ideally located for Harrogate and Nidderdale.

The accommodation is suitable only for 2 people, with a parking space for 1 car. Property warm with all facilities needed, however the shower room is quite small with limited space. The quilt supplied for the double (?) bed was too small, so we also had to use the sofa bed in the lounge.

Perfect place for a perfect stay.

Be it popping to the city,or walks in the countryside, this is the perfect base.

Lovely quiet and comfortable stay, with so many walks out the door, as well as a safely enclosed garden for us and the dog to enjoy.

Definitely needed a longer stay to see all the attractions in the area - will be back!

Very comfortable and clean accommodation.

Lovely walks in countryside around the cottage and very near to Fountains abbey and stunning Yorkshire Dales beauty spots. Quiet and restful. Only downside, as we were self catering, it would have been helpful to have a freezer, or even a freezer compartment to the fridge - as we were some distance from shops. All together, would highly recommend.

We only booked last minute, so luckily it was very easy through the Sykes site and I got regular updates.

So I was at ease. The owners were very knowledgeable about the area and are very happy to help with anything. The cottage was very clean, very well equipped and in such a beautiful location. The enclosed rear garden was also secure and an important feature when taking our family pet. A very welcomed peaceful break, we would recommend whole heartedly. Was a 5 star experience from end to end.

Everything was as expected, all we needed was there.

The property was beautifully clean and well maintained. A file contained simple instructions, where they were required, and some local information. The owners had, thoughtfully, provided some initial essentials. Everything that was needed for a relaxing getaway. Only drawback, the fridge did not have a freezer box, so no ice cream!!!

Lair Close Cottage was smaller than it appeared to be judging from the photos but fairly well appointed.

The kitchen lacked space for food etc and perhaps would benefit from having a wall cupboard. The bed was very comfortable, however, as a disabled person I found that the sofa/bed settee was too low and far from comfortable. Also I think the shower cubicle should have had a :grab rail' for ease of access for those with mobility issues. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog and the cottage was well placed for visiting local attractions.

Fablous location.

From point of booking to leaving. The process and meeting the owners was faultless. Lovely little welcome pack on arrival. 1000% recommend. Harrogate only a few miles away. Lots of walks and for the 4 legs friends.

Lovely cosy cottage for 2.

For 4? No. Maybe a young child. But walking through another sleeping area to go to the bathroom at night is a no go. For two of us comfortable, clean and cosy. Difficult to see where to put it, but a small dishwasher would be good. Some of the kitchen tools were a little suspect on cleanliness and needed a good scrub before use. Reversed in to parking space as reversing out into a blind t junction was potentially dangerous. Luckily road was very quiet.

Cottage was a bit smaller than thought but has everything you need very well set out and very clean really enjoyed the view and location very peaceful and quiet

A very enjoyable week staying in the cosy, comfortable cottage with my hearing dog.

Perfect location with lovely views at the rear and nice safe garden for dog. Very clean and well maintained, with generous welcome pack provided. Would have appreciated a mirror in bedroom as drying hair difficult without one, also oven gloves needed.

Lovely location, close to Harrogate and other towns.

Peaceful surroundings and loved watching the two ponies in the field at the bottom of the garden.

When looking for a cottage to stay in our main thought is a safe and secure garden for our dog.

Lair Close Cottage met our primary need with a totally secure garden. The cottage itself is bright and cheerful and very clean. After a day of exploring the Dales it was nice to come back to a comfy bed for a good nights sleep. Will definitely book again on our next visit to Yorkshire

Wonderful cottage with lovely owners.

Lairs Close Cottage was clean, tidy and welcoming. Thoughtfully, milk, sugar, tea, coffee and biscuits had been provided for our arrival. Philippa made a point of visiting to make certain we were happy with everything. We had a marvellous stay and were sad to leave our little "basecamp" at the end of our holiday. A leaving pack of water and sweets was also provided for the journey home and was much appreciated. The property is well situated for visiting many of the local attractions and beauty spots (of which there are many in this gorgeous county). Thank you for a lovely stay - we'll be back!

Absolutely loved our stay.

Lovely cosy, warm cottage set in tranquil area looking over rolling hills to the rear. A perfect place to recharge your batteries and relax.

The cottage was perfect for my needs - it had a well equipped kitchen area, a good size bedroom with wardrobe & a small bathroom with walk in shower.

It was well positioned for the places I wanted to visit - most of which I achieved. The owners had left some Welcome provisions & a return journey goody bag too - lovely touch! The owners were nearby if needed but otherwise left me alone. It was incredibly quiet & it was great to see the night sky as it should be & not polluted by artificial light. The Internet connection was not always good & this was acknowledged by the owners & for which there was guidance in the provided information folder. There were some delightful neighbours too - horses & chickens! Thank you!

I was using Lair Cottage as a base, travelling into Harrogate for work every day.

Fantastic long weekend.

The garden is perfect for lounging and loved sitting outside around the log burner. Really comfy bed too!

Lair Close Cottage was in a beautiful location with an outlook onto a small field where two ponies roamed around all day.

It was well equipped and a perfect base for visiting and exploring the many interesting places in and around this area. Phil & Philippa met us on arrival and explained they were always on hand if we needed any help/advice which we didn’t. They provided a folder with extremely good & detailed instructions and information about the appliances, lighting, heating, local pubs etc. There was also the provision of welcome and leaving packs. Only downside was poor Internet connection particularly in the evening. Would though recommend this little cottage for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing and enjoyable break in a lovely part of the country.

Place is good located, lots of nice fields for a long walks around.

Cottage looks a bit more spacious on pics, however I can't say it wasn't enough space for us (2 adults and dog). Very friendly and helpful owners, pleasant experience overall.

Beautiful location.

Quiet but close to main roads so local towns were easily accessible. Very welcoming owners. There was a welcome pack in the cottage. Cottage was well equipped- perfect for the 2 of us and there was an enclosed garden for the dog

This cottage is in a very attractive location.

The owners were there to offer help if needed but otherwise I felt it was "my" home for the week which was very enjoyable.

It was clean and everything we needed was provided. All in all a lovely place to stay. I would highly recommend it.

The property is wonderfully neat and clean.

The kitchen is well stocked with tea, coffee, washing up liquid and there was complimentary short bread, sweets and milk on arrival. We enjoyed watching the horses and chickens through the back door. The only downside is an unpleasant smell from the bathroom drain. Other than that, we had a very pleasant stay and it's evident that lots of thoughts have gone into making the property as comfortable as possible for staying guests. Thank you!

We had a lovely few days away in a comfortable cottage, the owners of the property were really helpful ensuring we enjoyed our time and made us aware of really nice places to visit.

I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to book a stay.

Cottage is comfortable and goo value but could do with some refurbishment.

This is a lovely holiday cottage, but I wouldn’t like to have 4 people sleeping in it, the sofa bed is not very comfortable as a sofa.

That’s my only gripe. It’s lovely to see the horse and pony in the back field and to wake up to the cockerel, which luckily isn’t too close to the cottage. It’s quite close to Harrogate and Knaresborough, and the Dales. We thoroughly enjoyed our week there and recommend it.

Picture of front door in your listing is misleading, it is nothing like that.

Entrance is via a clothes drying area and there is no view o a field.

On the Tues building began on a plot within feet of the bedroom door.

Noisy meant sitting out difficult. Once the houses have been completed this should diminish.

Very nice cosy place for two people and a dog to spend a week.

The family who own the cottage were very friendly and helpful.

The village of Shaw Mills was an excellent location for getting around the Dales.

We have just returned from our mini getaway.

Firstly the area is beautiful. There is lots of lovely walks local. The children really enjoyed their visit to Brimham Rocks and the castle gardens in Ripley. On their note Ripley had the most devine lemon curd ice cream. Additional the pies and fish and chips from Pateley bridge are also well worth a visit. Lair cottage is a lovely cozy little cottage. It was well equip and a perfect little base for our little adventure. The owners were extremely helpful and accommodating. Can recommend.

It was spotlessly clean and the hosts were very welcoming and friendly. We would definitely stay there again if we revisit the area.

Internet was not good . The last 3 days we have no lnternet . So we could not keep in touch with our son . And we need to do research on the next days where to go . Lovely place and great people . Cottage was just right for two people . The dog needed a bit bigger back garden.

Very friendly host, Philip, met us & showed us the cottage & explained all we needed to know.

It’s winter so we were happy to have the very efficient heating & hot water. The cottage is modern & well equipped, the tv & WiFi worked perfectly.

Superb little place.

We are a family with two children. One was able to sleep on the sofa bed and the youngest a travel cot, in the bedroom. We had plenty of room for all of us, including the dog! We were also pleasantly surprised, upon our art, to find milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. There was also a leaving pack, for our journey home, which was also much appreciated. Really near by to a lot of great places to visit and explore. Would recommend as a super place for a break away.

The cottage is better suited for just 2 people. The views and location were perfect. Lots of places to visit within a 20 minutes drive. The good weather was a bonus.

Situated in a lovely atmosphere.

Quiet, with a beautifull view. Good for 2 persons (for 4 persons maybe not). We enjoyed our stay.

The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and had essentials for our arrival e.

g. Tea/coffee milk etc. and we were given food for our return journey. The cottage was in a beautiful location and very quiet. The villagers were so welcoming and everyone spoke to us we would definitely recommend this cottage to family and friends.

The cottage is in a good location for both Harrogate and the Dales.

Beautiful, quiet location.

Everything included in cottage that you need for a week of relaxation. Patio doors overlook a paddock with horses, Neighbouring houses a good field away and sheltered by beautiful mature trees. Owners on hand if you need any help/advice and were very accommodating. Convenient location for Harrogate and the many small surrounding villages. Would love to return again in the future.

A lovely cottage in a wonderful location to explore Nidderdale.

It had everything we needed, was warm and cosy and a welcome retreat at the end of some long days. Everything you need for a week, it felt like home from home. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others. We stayed with our two children, so it's great for families. Lovely view over a small paddock with kind and friendly owners on hand.
