Although at first sight the property seemed ideal, clean, with good heating, we soon discovered the major flaw - hot water.

Instructions to run taps slowly, were tried numerous times. But we never managed to get more than a trickle before the flow turned cold again. Showering impossible, hot water in the wash basin very intermittent, later in the week none in the kitchen either. Looking at previous reviews we see this is an ongoing issue for several years that has not been addressed. In our 70's, carrying a boiled kettle up the steep stairs was not ideal and strip washing was an added hassle. Not up to the standard we have previously found with Sykes lets.

Overall disappointing.

On the plus side the location was good; close to the town centre with all its facilities and within the canal quarter. Also good WiFi. Negatives were the general low level of facilities, like kitchen utensils, with only one saucepan lid and that didn't fit, only one small tea towel, very rationed on washing up liquid, and no dishwasher to compensate. No cupboard space, so all food had to be stored on the table. A major issue was the lack of hot water even after running away lots of cold water, so needing kettles. The bathroom warnings about the shower and bath and lack of grab rails stopped their safe use and we couldn't find a non slip mat. Bed was comfy. Settee and chair comfy. Could be good if more storage provided and generally upgraded.
