"We booked for a big birthday celebration for 20 people and we had a wonderful week!"
The barn is perfect to accommodate a large party for meals etc but having the farmhouse as well meant there was lots of spaces for people to use at different times. The location is wonderful with beautiful views and lots of birds for the birdwatchers in our party! Some lovely pubs nearby and close to Hay, Hereford for trips out. The farm shop is very handy too and has pretty much everything you might need. We ended up staying during one of the hottest weeks of the year and the owners were very attentive and made sure we were all OK. I would definitely stay there again!
Dear Anne
Thank you so much for your glowing review. You have pretty much covered all the key points so we don’t really have anything to add.
Most of all, we are delighted that you and your family and friends had a wonderful time and birthday celebration and that wonderful memories were made. Really glad you didn’t melt in the heatwave! We hope you will return soon.
Thanks again Anne. Much appreciated.

"Was lucky enough to have stayed at White Haywood Farm earlier this Spring and couldn’t resist going back for a second bite the following month."
"
Perfectly located in an elevated position, the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons can be accessed direct from the property for those who fancy donning walking boots and exercising limbs……and a rather splendid, generous family sized hot tub awaits those who return looking for a good hot soak, whilst enjoying unfettered views looking down over the valley (through which the River Monnow runs) – and, in my case, accompanied by a large glass of something. Accessed via a long private drive and newly renovated with all the mod cons one would expect, the provision of Wi Fi, with excellent signal, is there for those that need to remain in touch with distant offices or are working from home. Can whole heartedly recommend the property to anyone who is after some genuine P & Q.

"The property was fantastic and well maintained we all had a great time including our dogs,
Would not recommend the farm house to anyone 6ft plus due to the lovely traditional low farm house ceilings."
The house keeper was quick to support some small issues we had and thank her greatly,
But Sykes I rang repeatedly on the 2nd and morning of the 3 rd aswell as emailed about key code etc to never have an answer or response!
Glad the house keeper answered !
Would recommend the houses again great walks and villages
Hi Steven. Thanks for your positive comments about White Haywood Farm and Barn. They are much appreciated.
Regarding the Farmhouse I’m sorry you banged your head! There weren’t many 6’ people around in the 1500s when the farm was built. I think height is an issue for some ground floor doors rather than for the ceilings themselves. We have ‘Mind your Head’ signs over a couple of doors and we will look at whether we could put up a few more.

"A Great Week in the Black Mountains."
I spent a wonderful week at White Haywood Farmhouse from 12th-19th December, and it exceeded expectations. As a solo traveller, I was initially concerned the property might feel too large, but it was perfect, cosy, characterful, and exactly what I needed for a peaceful escape.
The farmhouse itself is stunning. The 16th-century beams and original features create warmth and character, and the woodburning stove was my evening companion after long days exploring. The kitchen had everything I needed to cook my meals, which I enjoyed at the breakfast bar while gazing out at the mountain views. The farm was extremely clean and everything worked perfectly, from the heating to the WiFi.
The hot tub was a real plus there's something magical about soaking under the December stars with the Black Hill silhouetted against the winter sky. Pure bliss after a day's walking.
Location-wise, it's pretty good. I made day trips to both Hay-on-Wye (charming bookshops, perfect for a rainy afternoon) and Abergavenny (fantastic market and cafes), both easily accessible. The real adventure was tackling Pen-y-Fan, it's a drive to get there but a rewarding hike. The December weather was crisp and clear, and the views were breathtaking. I found the village shop at Longtown a real boon for local snacks, and the Bull's Head in Craswall, on the same road as the Farm, has an amazing restaurant and an amazing cider called Gasping Goose.
Having direct access to the Cat's Back from the back door was handy. I did a couple of walks straight from the property without needing to drive anywhere.
I can definitely recommend White Haywood Farmhouse as a peaceful, characterful base to explore this stunning part of the country.

"We spent a lovely week in Herefordshire, the farmhouse was beautiful, very clean and comfortable."
The location was tranquil and relaxing, the views of the black mountains behind the house were stunning. Our only issues were getting hold of Sykes to obtain the key codes before we arrived. Perhaps the key codes could be emailed or texted instead?
Thank you for your kind feedback. We really appreciate it and are delighted that you had a wonderful week with your family.
I’m sorry that you had difficulty getting hold of Sykes. At the time, I believe they had some unexpected technical issues with their phone lines. I have passed on your feedback and will ask that codes are emailed to guests before the trip. We appreciate you taking the time to review White Haywood; it helps us make our guests trips as enjoyable as possible. We hope you will return again soon. Thank you Alero.

No proper tv only Amazon so that was awful
Not enough space to sit in the kitchen bad storage of things in the kitchen
Terrible sofas in the living room
Tiny tv in living room and massive one in a bedroom so no sense to that
Awful smelly flowers which we had to put outside
Dog poo left on lawn which we cleared up on last day or we thought we would be in trouble but it wasn’t ours
Too many instructions on tidying up on leaving
We had a nice time but wouldn’t come back
Dear Kathryn,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. We’re sorry that you missed watching terrestrial TV during your stay in the mountains; although our smart TVs give you BBC iPlayer, ITV X, Channel 4 and My 5, unfortunately, our 13th-century listed buildings don’t support TV antennae for live TV. However, we’ve added a further complimentary Netflix subscription to our TVs and hope that this, plus the glorious setting, may go some way to making up for the entertainment deficit. The living room does not lend itself to a widescreen TV, but to your other point we are installing new sofas in August. Similarly, we like to leave flowers to welcome customers but take onboard your comments. We do a careful sweep for dog poo after each visit and we’re very sorry that one was missed this time – we will try harder in future and thank you for clearing one up. We’re really sorry you’re not returning but glad you had a nice time in the farm – being in the mountains at this time of year is very special.

"The farm is a unique combination of quirky old-world charm and modern comfort, stunning views, excellent comfort."
It is newly-renovated, and we loved the location in the Black Mountains, from where we climbed the Cat’s Back, explored the bookshops of Hay-on-Wye. I thoroughly recommend it and give it 5/5
