The Old Laundry

The road in is a bit slow & bumpy if you have a low car like ours, however it’s so worth it!

The seclusion, quite & surroundings are so peaceful & beautiful. Even the drive in is through beautiful forest with deer to spot, so it’s not so bad to take it slow. Really well equipped & clean. Comfy beds all rooms with views of hills & trees! We were also very very lucky that when we visited the cleggs & midges where at a minimum… not bad at all. Although very secluded, it’s right at the edge of granton on Spey village so close to amenities and tons of amazing walks and activities! Only 45/50 mins to the lovely beaches of Nairn & Elgin, so a great location for a forest, loch & coastal break. I would highly recommend this property & will definitely return!

Everything was just perfect: Pleasant contact with the owner, beautiful natural location (with red squirrels, woodpeckers and pine martens feeding from seeds provided), all basic necessities were present, and the property was affordable.

We had a great time with our family. So thanks for that!

The Old Laundry is situated close by woodland and farmland.

Also it is only about 10 minutes drive away from the centre of Grantown-on-Spey. I like nature watching and mountain biking. I also like to eat out occasionally, and cook at home frequently. These things can be done happily from the Old Laundry. So much so that my wife and I have been there five times. The access tracks are fairly rough, and a vehicle with moderate off road capability is required to negotiate them. Anyone going there should arm themselves with good binoculars. The wild life is a joy to behold.

The Old Laundy was the ideal place to stay, it was private, quiet, clean and had everything we needed.

It was easy to find and has plenty to do in the surrounding areas. We had a great holiday and would love to return one day.

Forest track leading to the property had numerous potholes some of which were very deep.

Difficult to avoid when driving in the dark. This track was also used by farmer bringing hay to cattle in field adjacent to the property- the tractors wheels churned up grass verge into mud and although I drove at less than 20 mph along the track my wheels lost traction at the muddiest part. Some cobwebs throughout the property. Several bluebottles flying around in the property. At least one new one every day. No feedback form in folder.

A lovely quiet site within easy distance of Grantown and amenities.

Absolutely loved the cottage, so remote and private, set in a vast estate of ancient forest, yet 5 minutes by car to charming Grantown-on-Spey.

Very-well equipped, a real home from home, spacious, comfortable and well-heated. A delight to pull up the blinds to that glorious view each morning, especially when spying a red squirrel running across the lawn, red woodpeckers and coal tits on the bird feeders, or tiny deer grazing by the castle! The Highlands can’t be any more beautiful, and we were so lucky to have wonderful autumnal weather. Highly recommend!

A well looked after property with everything needed for a comfortable stay in an excellent location.

A really lovely cottage: spacious, well-equipped, warm and extremely comfortable.

The location is also fantastic - very quiet and (quite literally) off the beaten track! Grantown-on-Spey accessible on foot (about 1.5 miles) with plenty of facilities, and loads to do in the surrounding area: mountains, rivers, beaches... The only downside is the access track which is a bit rough and muddy in places - but not too big an issue if you take it slow!

Once again, The Old Laundry lived up to expectations.

It's been 2 weeks since we've come back from the Scottish highlands, after staying at The Old Laundry.

What a fabulous stay we had! An amazing cottage set in a very remote forest. You wake up with the sounds of sheep and birds in the garden, with what I believe, surrounded by ancient forests of Milton woods, Drumindanan woods. (We did manage to spot some deers in the forests too) The cottage is a wonderful place to explore the Cairngorms from. It has eveything for a holiday cottage, it is very comfortable, clean and spacious, with beautiful decor and windows, for a very smooth cosy stay, and the log burning fire is wonderful. The rooms and bathrooms were immaculately clean, with lovely touches throughout, and the cottage is big enough for a group of 5-6. The owners have really thought about everyhting. We got lost on the way, however the hosts are very attentive, and communication is excellent. The only thing is the long road to the cottage could be improved as others have mentioned, with maybe more signposts. I would definitely recommend The Old Laundry - If you are looking to get away from it all and rejuvinate in beautiful ancient Scottish woodlands, but with the reassurance that everyhting is at your doorstep when needed (Grantown on Spey is 1 1/2 miles away with fantastic shops)- then this is the place. We are truly missing the beautiful location and cottage. I wish we could have stayed longer in Cairngorms. This is an ideal location to explore from.

A beautiful and very comfortable place to stay.

The house has everything, very well equiped. Wildlife around the house - deer, red squirrel, birds - and very quiet and peaceful. Many things to do and see in the area.

Second time for us at this secluded cottage.

We love the remoteness but at the same time you have all the amenities and attractions you would want minutes away. Loads of wildlife all around the cottage and lovely walks in the estate grounds right from the front door. The cottage has everything you could need for the week and very comfortable.

. very well equipped kitchen bed super comfortable will definitely stay again.. we filled up the bird feeders and was well rewarded with birds also a red squirrel, I would definitely put up squirrel feeders if I lived there.. perfect stay..

This is our second stay at the Old Laundry, having first visited last October.

We thought that it would be good to see it in Spring, and were not disappointed. The cottage is comfortable and easy to live in, and the wildlife in the immediate vicinity is an absolute delight. There are also good bicycle rides to be had along both forest and paved roads. I hope that one day we will return.

The Access "road" has some very good pot holes that the estate owners need to repair as you have to zigzag around them .

Excellent as ever

We had a brilliant stay at the Old Laundry.

It's a lovely property in a beautiful secluded location, although close enough to shops etc if you need them. We found the accommodation extremely cosy, with the lounge and log burner in the middle so the warmth spread throughout. The views from the property are excellent, and it was lovely having no neighbours so we felt miles from real life, even though we weren't really. We ran and cycled in the woods from the front door, and did some great walks and cycle rides in the local area, along the Spey and in the forest next to Grantown. The kitchen was very well equipped, everything was really well maintained, and the bed was very comfortable. We hope to come back soon!

We have stayed at this property several times and really enjoy the quiet location, the comfort of the home and proximity to some many things.

It is enough to say this was our sixth stay at The Old Laundry that has become so familiar is it like a second home.

It was comfy, well equipped and in a fantastic and peaceful location. We watched the birds including woodpeckers come to the feeders every day and had the occasional deer visiting. Helpful phone call from the owner before we arrived.

As always, this property was a total joy to stay at.

We've been around 5 times and love it. The owners are exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Only disappointment was a broken microwave.

Cottage was brilliant for wildlife watching (keep the feeders topped up and a wide variety of birds arrive, together with red squirrels and deer. Also ideal for 'dark skies' watching.

We’d book again if we were allowed to bring our dog, which was our only negative point.

What a gem, the house and surroundings were perfect.

Such a beautiful area to explore. The house was equipped with everything we could possibly have needed and there was plenty of information available about the local area as well. Fantastic walking, cycling, wildlife, food and wild swimming.

Good walks in the grounds and into Grantown on Spey. Track to the cottage in poor condition.

We had some misgivings about the mile plus bumpy track leading to the cottage; however, the Old Laundry was a true getaway off the beaten track.

The location and cottage were perfect and a fantastic place to spend time away from ‘normal’ life. Once there it was only us and the birds and sheep. At night, we were surrounded by starry skies. We loved every minute of our stay and would go back in a heartbeat!

Quiet isolation in very comfortable house.

Our 4th visit to the old Laundry and it's as amazing as ever

This was our second stay at the Old Laundry and we did enjoy again a beautiful and relaxing holiday.

An amazing property in the forest, no traffic, only quietness and some deer in the morning. We had snow during our stay and it was wonderful, to come back in the afternoon in a comfortable, warm and cosy home. The house was immaculate and very clean. We would definitly stay again. Many thanks to the owners.

We had a really good time whilst on our holiday in Scotland.

The house was beautiful and well equipped. Everything you would need for a family get away. There was more than enough to do in the house along with electronics that were a little out of date but still better than nothing. The house was very clean and much better than our last stay in Scotland. The red squirrels were a delight to see as were the deer, wood peckers and coal finches. It was also very safe for the children to play outside without supervision. There was nowhere they could go to get into any trouble. The cows were hilarious especially when they arrived in the garden. The calf decided to jump the fence and so mummy had to follow which brought the herd. The kids thought this was wonderful. The owner was very attentive. If we needed anything he replied quickly to our messages and got someone to sort the problem. All in all I think the house was well worth the money and I would stay again. Many thanks. As a side, the DVD player could do with a control as there is no way to navigate options without it. Also the shower in the en-suite needs a curtain or glass screen so it doesn’t get water all over the floor.

Beautiful little cottage in Speyside with good facilities off the beaten track.

Perfect base for mount biking and walking. Glorious secluded setting. We love it and look forward to returning.
