What guests are saying
This was our second visit to Rehoboth Lodge in Dundee and it met most of our needs and expectations.
We contacted the host over some problems and she got back to us the next day and these were fixed. One outstanding issue was the TV: we got it working after 30-60 minutes of fiddling with the hand-held controller (no good) and looking for buttons, finally finding a tiny button on the middle of the underside edge. Next day we got the main menu up (by luck) and as our stay progressed, then later diagnosed that there is a faulty cable/connection at the rear of the TV - some waggling cured an occasional pixelation issue. All a (unnecessary) struggle. Some written instructions on how to use the TV (and other electrical appliances, e.g. dishwasher, washing machine, air fryer) would prove helpful and the owner agreed to do this when i spoke with her.
Hello My suggestion would be to paint the place, paint on rads really need repainting, mold in showers so need to clean and recaulk.
And clean the carpets on stairs. It was fine for one night stay. The host was very nice. A nice welcome basket would have been nice as with other places with simple things like chips, popcorn and a bottle of wine etc. hope this helps.
Drains were blocked from our arrival on the Thursday night until about 20 mins before we left on the Sunday.
The problem was eventually identified as being in the street drains and Scottish Water had to help unblock them. Not totally the property owners fault, BUT... I called first thing on Friday morning and the handyman visited within minutes but couldn't unblock it. He called the rental manager whilst still at the property, early on Friday morning reporting that he was unable to clear it and it needed a plumber, but we didn't hear anything back until late on Friday that their plumber couldn't visit until Monday. An amazing man from Go-Flo spent 3hrs on Saturday evening trying to unblock it, then returned early the next morning to meet and help the Scottish Water man to finally unblock the street and our drains. This was already blocked when we arrived on the first evening, as the toilet in the downstairs bathroom didn't drain the first time it was flushed and the bowl filled right up to the rim and then took more than an hour to drain away. It was v late evening when this happened so I called first thing the Friday morning. I can't believe that neither the previous occupants nor cleaning team hadn't spotted this problem. Until it was fixed there were terrible noises and then gas from the blocked sewer bubbling up through the U bend in the shower tray and toilet in the downstairs bathroom- not pleasant. As recompense I was offered a 5% discount off the price of renting the same property, the next time I wanted to stay in Dundee. Hardly an offer I am likely to claim. I definitely wouldn't be going back there again. The property was clean but needs an upgrade. It is a bit shabby with worn furniture, a TV and remote that didn't work properly and damaged doors and work surfaces in the kitchen. Two very wobbly chairs in the kitchen that had been badly and inadequately mended. Had to use them as there were six of us staying. Lots of messages with an odd over-familiarity. More than I have had from any other property owner/team, ever. We were given "a big thank you" for booking with them and were called "treasured customer" and it was hoped that we "had the "open space" to thrive, flourish, relax and accomplish the purpose of your visit."- ALL after we had had such a terrible trouble with persistently blocked drains. They read like standard patronising messages, sent unthinkingly. Foolish. The only positives: The handyman was excellent, as were the drain professionals.
