"A lovely cottage, very comfortable, in a rural setting but close to shops and bus stops for a trip to Aberdeen."
Easy access to Pitmedden Gardens after a walk through the woodland. Lots of castles to visit nearby and beautiful coastline to discover. The cottage itself is cosy and very well equipped. The only improvement would be to install a shower cubicle instead of the bath as it would be far easier to access for elderly visitors and also use less water!

"Beechgrove Cottage is a beautiful place to stay - very comfortable and stylish, with a well equipped kitchen (gorgeous Denby crockery, great pots and pans, fantastic toaster and very fast kettle, plus super sharp chef's knives) and comfortable beds (memory foam though - they can be a bit hot in warm weather)."
Lovely decorative ceramics and paintings throughout the house gave it a super ambience and the log fire was just a bonus.
The heating was super efficient, there was loads of hot water, and we think it's one of the best National Trust properties we've ever stayed in.
The only (slight) negative is this - it's not for anyone who has mobility issues. There are a few steps up to the front door, and the shower is over the bath (a non-slip mat in there might help, or better still conversion to a walk in shower.)
We really loved it.
Many thanks for your lovely comments about Beechgrove Cottage which has just been refurbished. Great to read that you appreciated the quality touches such as the art work and the Denby crockery. We do have some limitations on what we can do in our cottages as they are often listed and of historic note.

"An idyllic rural cottage on the edge of a village with co-op, chippie, pub and cafe."
Loads to see and visit in local area. Cottage really comfortable and clean and warm. New carpets and nicely furnished. Comfortable beds. Hard to fault given it was such great value for money. Would thoroughly recommend.
Thank you for your kind words, Beechgrove Cottage is one of our cottages we have recently refurbished. The gardens are superb when in full bloom, with one area redesigned by the well known Garden Designer Chris Beardshaw.

"We have stayed at this cottage many times over the past 15 years."
Apart from during Covid times this was the first time we arrived at the cottage to find absolutely nothing left not even a toilet roll. Perhaps you could tell me what we are paying for when there isn't even a toilet roll in the property. In the past there has always been a tray with teas, coffee, biscuits etc. and a pint of milk in the fridge. The fire place although very clean was not layed ready to light (as it has always been in the past) and there was no fire materials left in the cottage. The fact that is was pouring down with rain and blowing a howling gale didn't help matters trying to find fire materials in the shed and although we managed to find papers and logs there was no kindling what-so-ever. I know the National Trust is struggling financially but surely they can afford toilet rolls !!!!

"Lovely cottage, very clean and homely."
The only problem we had was that the TV couldn't get sub titles on and I need these as I am partially deaf. Someone came on the Sunday but even they couldn't sort it.
We would definitely return if the tv was sorted.

"We spent an amazing week in this cottage."
Great location to visit castles, beaches, very good family cycles all around. On a rainy day you can had to Aberdeen to visit the museums, excellent family day out. Very active and fun family holiday. The kids loved just to play around the cottage in the evening. If you are a National Trust for Scotland member you can really take advantage of your membership at this location. The cottage was clean, the furniture comfortable, especially the beds. Highly recommended.

"Overall the cottage was lovely and cosy and perfect for our requirements - however a lot of the kitchen items were dirty and needed washing again."
I know it is an old cottage, but the water pressure and hot water in the kitchen was very poor, it took a long time for the hot water to come through and when it did, it took forever to fill a washing bowl to enable us to wash up.
We also tried to contact the property owner, prior to our stay, to see if we could purchase wood / coal from them for the fire - but no one got back in touch with us.

"The property manager was unable to supply a solution to the failure of the back up battery in the main smoke alarm, which squawks very loudly every 5 minutes until the battery is replaced."
This happened at around 8 pm of the last night of my stay. Just after 10pm I packed up and left for alternative accommodation, as I had a long journey next day. I have received no apology nor offer of refund.
We are very sorry that we were unable to resolve the situation in a timely manner as our guest had hoped, but we were working towards a solution and we are sorry that you felt you needed to leave at 10pm.

"One of the best locations we have stayed at with lovely walks in the evening."
The hot water to the kitchen needs a rethink but otherwise fine. The nearby Pitmedden gardens are wonderful and the farm museum a pleasant surprise. The Coffee Apothecary serves a good breakfast nearby. The internet is reliable. Great base for exploring recumbent stone circles and nearby National Trust properties.
Thank you for your feedback and great to read that you appreciated the gardens and location. We will improve the information about the water heating, improving the flow is a bigger job that we need to investigate the cost of the work.

"The cottage was very comfortable and warm and the location in the woodlands by the Gardens was ideal for short walks."
Pitmedden Gardens are a delight. We enjoyed our stay.
A small point is the kitchen hot tap is so slow to as be useless - but there is a very large electric kettle.
It is worth noting that most of the Castles in the area are closed for three days in the week at this time of the year - a fact not clear from the NTS Guide Book.
Thank you for your feedback, good to read that you were warm and comfortable. We will ask the staff to check the water pressure from the tank. It is always worth checking our website for up to date information on the properties in the locality as we are still working within the certain Covid advice and staff availability.

"Fine. The cottage was as described, decent layout, comfortable chairs."
Only downside was the deep walls and small windows, so it was a bit gloomy inside. But we were out most of the time, so not a huge issue.
The only poor thing as the instructions to find the place. A small map + grid reference would be so much easier. The instructions were a terrible, text only, involved us needing to get detailed maps out and still getting the entrance wrong the first 2 times, and walking for 20-30 minutes around a builders yard then muddy footpaths in pitch dark, and us shining bright light through the wrong cottage windows.
Thank you for your feedback. There is very little we can do about the construction of the cottage and the size of the windows. We will re-assess the directions to the property with the staff at Pitmedden to see if we can make them clearer for future clients.

"The directions to the cottage were hard to follow and we needed to ask for help."
We phoned both phone numbers listed but got no answer. Eventually a local dog walker guided us to the cottage.
The cottage was comfortable and clean. It was well resourced. It had a good sized and we'll kept garden.
The woodland walks around Pitmedden Garden were lovely.
Thank you for pointing out the problem with the directions and they have now been clarified. We are not sure if you rang the office number or the mobile number so unsure why you were unable to contact us. We are glad to read that you enjoyed the cottage and the gardens.
