Shell Cottage

We had a great holiday at this super cottage.

It was very well equipped and had interesting decor.The little garden across the road was delightful - dog prove and fantastic views . The village had a cafe,shop and hotel within walking distance and will certainly return.

We were delighted with Shell Cottage, it was even better than we expected from the photos and descriptions.

The house was kitted out to a really high standard throughout, full of nice touches eg tea, coffee and milk provided; limited edition prints on the walls etc. The photos don’t do it justice, could see the beach from every window. Was a bit surprised by how low the upstairs ceilings were, was mentioned on the description but were lower than I expected. But brilliant accommodation and spot, highly recommend.

Shell cottage is a wonderfull small cottage and ideal for a couple like us or for a small family.

The cottage was very well presented and very clean. We particularly liked beong able to walk across the road and sit in the little shelteted garden area and down to the river beach or acroos the bridge to the main bay. Slains castle is a lovely walk as well and there is a nice cafe, pub and shop.

We had an amazing stay at shell cottage.

It was very comfy and spotless. Well equipped. With access to a lovely sandy beach. A few minutes walk to harbour dunes cafe, food very nice. A pub five minutes walk away. Cruden bay is beautiful, all the locals are very friendly. Owner lives next door, very nice chap. Nothing too much trouble. We had a little problem, he sorted it straight away. Would highly recommend!! We will be back!!

Everything about it was excellent

This is one of the best properties we have ever stayed in.

The cottage was exactly as shown and the view of the bay spectacular. We felt at home from the moment we arrived. We enjoyed some of the special touches, the quirky furniture and books. We spent a wet afternoon looking at the cookery books with old Scottish recipes. The cottage was spotless and the kitchen had everything we needed even boxes to take out with our lunches. The location was great with lots of places for walks and a great pub/restaurant in the Kilmarnock Arms. Wonderful week and would highly recommend

Great place n beautiful views, would highly recommend locals are very helpful n friendly , dunes cafe great food n friendly, Kilmarnock hotel great pub excellent food bar maids very friendly n loved our dog Levi , would like to thank bob for his hospitality and let him no we left early n had to return to shell cottage couldn’t get through for snow, then Craig tracked down farmer with plough so cleared the road for use 6miles that’s why we left our coffees that we were about to have plz let bob no many that’s Craigs’s n Sharron Porteous xx

Shell Cottage was beautifully furnished with lovely little touches.

There was a Christmas tree in the front room, as I stayed over Christmas week, which I really appreciated. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen had everything I needed. Bob was very helpful and answered some questions I had about the local area. The Cottage is situated in a lovely area just next to the beach. I completed some great walks along to Slains Castle (new), Bullers of Buchan, Forvie Nature Reserve and Newburgh Beach to see the seals. I had a wonderful week at Shell Cottage.

Parking on the doorstep, lovely beach front garden with steps to the beach Really friendly host lives next door, Bob & Morag. Will definitely return to this property.

I was charged £50 for some dog hair left on an old throw we never used in a dog friendly cottage dog hair was white we have a brown dog Sykes charged me £50 when I returned never be using them again

The cottage is spotless and so well equipped. Lovely owners who lent the kids a paddleboard for the day. Cruden bay is a nice village and we were right next to the beach, happy holiday thank you

It's the nicest place we have stayed in.

Extremely well appointed. Spotless, comfortable with wonderful views. The owners were very friendly and hospitable in every respect. The setting is fantastic overlooking Cruden Bay. Strongly recommend this cottage as a holiday destination.

Lovely accomodation in a perfect location.

The owners left some milk and shortbread biscuits which was great. Very comfortable for chilling, everything we needed. The close proximity to the beach was fantastic. A lot of thought has gone in to furnishing the cottage which made it a home from home. Local people were all really friendly and we could definitely recommend the Kilmarnock Arms for delocious food and a very varried menu at a reasonable price, and only a five minute walk away. Also the Harbour Dunes Cafe which was only a two minute walk was great for coffee/ lunch with stunning views. Overall a perfect week.

Just returned from an amazing week at Shell Cottage.

Great location, and comfortable base to tour this picturesque part of Scotland. Excellent accommodation with everything you would wish for. Bright and comfortable, the cottage takes on a nautical theme throughout. Our hosts Bob and Morag were extremely helpful, and went out of their way to ensure we wanted for nothing. Excellent stay in a quirky traditional cottage.

We found the property to be spotless, comfortable and thoughtfully furnished. Being a traditional cottage there are some restrictions space-wise, however every effort has been made to make the most of every nook and cranny. Beautiful view and a lovely friendly village with good amenities. Would happily return!

Had a wonderful 2 weeks in an excellent cottage.

The ideal location to enjoy both local and further afield areas. The cottage is comfortably furnished, has every amenity you could want and is spotlessly clean. Following great days out it is the ideal cottage in which to cook a meal and totally chill out in the evening. Just prior to this enjoy a relaxing visit to the patio area with it's outstanding views. Perfect for our dog also. We loved our visit and hope to return next year.

Excellent location and the cottage is well appointed.

For those that are tall maybe not the cottage for you but was OK for us. It was close to an excellent cafe and pub less than 10 min walk. Would recommend if looking for a beach holiday.

The cottage was like a home from home for us.

Very comfortable and clean. The garden across the road was good too with easy access to the beach. We met the owners Morag and Bob who we felt went out of their way to ensure that we were happy with everything, and were able to say that we were delighted. Great base for touring the North East of Scotland.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was beautifully presented with many thoughtful touches. And, it was lovely to be able to meet and chat with our host. A minor niggle would be the address conundrum and perhaps that should be emphasised more in the arrival instructions. And, personally, I found the pillows extremely hard and resorted to using a cushion, but a very minor issue.

Shell Cottage is a lovely holiday home.

Every detail has been thoughtfully designed, maximising the space. The views over the bay are amazing and the garden space is an added bonus. We have had a much needed relaxing break. Overall, lovely people, lovely place and we would love to return.

She'll cottage is one of the best finished and relaxing cottages we have stayed in.

The best cottage we’ve ever stayed in, beautifully done out with sea views from every window, very warm and cosy on colder evenings.

As for the location… wow!! Our vizsla loved the garden and going down our private steps to the beach. A lovely village , very friendly. Recommend the Kilmarnock arms for food and the newly opened Harbour dunes cafe. This beautiful cottage had everything you would possibly need for a comfortable break.

The cottage was very tastefully decorated and dressed with care. The beach was stunning and the use of the summer house a real treat.

Upon arrival we were so impressed by the Cottage, garden and whole location. The garden with private access to the beach and summer house were such a great addition to the cottage and we spent a huge amount of time there. The facilities provided were of the highest standard and as a family with 2 children there was everything we needed to have a fantastic holiday. We can't wait to return to Shell Cottage.

Stayed in this immaculatley clean and well equipped cottage in Cruden Bay last week.

Each room has it s own beautiful little personality. This is one of the best cottages we have ever booked over the years across Scotland. It has amazing views straight onto the bay from each window and a short walking distance to this stunning beach. It also has an enclosed garden with a summer house to watch the waves and sunsets. Certainly will be back.

Our stay in August at Shell cottage was nothing short of magical.

Tucked away in a picturesque setting, this charming place provided the perfect escape for our young family and dog. From the moment we arrived, the cottage welcomed us with its warm ambiance and inviting atmosphere. Nestled just a short walk from the beach, it offered the best of both worlds – the serenity of the countryside and the allure of the nearby coastline. The cottage itself was a haven of comfort and style. The interior had a homely charm with its beautiful decor, creating a soothing environment for relaxation. There was a view of the sea from each window, which was stunning. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the proximity to the beach. A leisurely stroll led us to the sandy shores, where we enjoyed breath-taking views of the Scottish coastline. The children loved how close we were and we could easily nip back to the cottage to make some lunch to take back to the beach, our dog was more than happy with all that space to run around in. The cottage was really cosy of an evening and really felt like a home from home, and waking up to the sound of waves in the distance was fantastic. The attention to detail by the cottage owners did not go unnoticed. Thoughtful touches, from cozy blankets to local recommendations, loads of extra towels etc. They really had though of everything. In summary, our time at Shell cottage was nothing short of amazing. It seamlessly blended comfort, charm, and convenience, offering a memorable retreat for our family. Whether you seek a peaceful getaway or a base for coastal exploration, this cottage is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. We left with hearts full of gratitude and memories that will last a lifetime. You know it’s somewhere special when your children ask you every few weeks if we can go back to the same place again!

FAB-U-LOUS!

!!! Cottage was extremely comfortable (beds and sofa super comfy), extremely well equipped throughout. Wonderful panoramic views over the bay. Off road parking was such a bonus. Fantastic garden opposite with use of summerhouse which provided us with the ideal setting to watch the sun set each night. Direct access to the beach from the garden was a real luxury and our little Scottie dog just loved snuffling around the seaweed first thing in the morning. The owners (Bob and Morag) were friendly, professional and helpful, imparting local knowledge and information when requested which was very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble, they were an absolute delight!!! We spent two weeks at Shell Cottage and plan to return next year.

This is an ideal property for a couple with the views we wanted for a genuine week off - particularly from the table/summerhouse across the road.

They have made the best use of the limited space, maximising the kitchen/diner and lounge. The local shop and Kilmarnock Arms gives you all you need without leaving that end of the Bay. Fabulous beach within yards. Very minor items. A hook/s on the back of the bathroom door would be a real help in the limited space. A nightlight for the stairs would be good.

This property is one of the best holiday homes that we have stayed in ,it was so well thought out and was really clean , cozy and comfortable.

Such a peaceful place, the cottage was well equipped and the owners Rob and Morag were extremely helpful and friendly throughout our stay. The highlight for us was the garden area and Summer house. We spent every evening enjoying the garden with amazing views across the bay and the direct private beach access was a huge bonus. I would definitely recommend staying here. Only minor downside for me and my dodgy back was the steep stairs and coombed ceilings in the bedrooms but this did not stop me for thoroughly enjoying our stay.

We have literally just returned home after a wonderful break at Shell Cottage, from arriving until leaving we thoroughly enjoyed our break in the glorious sunshine.

Shell cottage had absolutely everything that we needed for our stay including a most thoughtful welcome pack which was appreciated, it was spotlessly clean from top to bottom and the stunning views over the beach from the garden were better than perfect. Hopefully we can return again soon, with grateful thanks to Robert and Morag the owners for their kindness during our stay and I would recommend Shell Cottage to anyone looking for a top quality holiday cottage.
