Rowan Cottage

An excellent cottage in a great location near the beach.

Everything was provided for a wonderful stay. Beds were super comfortable and the garden room was great for relaxing in. Hot tub fantastic!

we've had a super relaxing week with everything we needed.

we were late booking our week away so didnt have the same choice for our requirements. I have a husband with certain disabilities and a dog, these had to be taken into consideration. I'm so pleased with booking late as we might not have chosen Rowan Cottage ! The area is perfect for dog walking with the lovely Lunan bay so close and Rosie liked to lie with her nose out the back door she settled as soon as we got there, hubby was relaxed too. The welcome pack was amazing the best we've ever had and the fridge items so welcome. We definitely want to return and have already recommended it to others.

This is a lovely, clean, well equipped cottage.

For us the location was perfect having walks with amazing views nearby. The weather was very kind to us and we were able to sit in the garden and enjoy the sun. There's a lot to see and do locally with more and more places now being dog friendly which is important to us. We actually didn't have time to use the hot tub so maybe we'll need to come back ....

This cottage is delightfully situated, so peaceful, so near to a very quiet but beautiful beach, it's a little gem.

The kitchen was very well organised and equipped, and the whole of the cottage was cleaned to a very high standard, we were very happy here for a week. We mostly lived in the dining room as it is so light and airy and warm, and the utility room with washer and freezer was a great bonus.

A beautiful home from home in a beautiful setting.

The cottage had everything you could possibly need. We live in the city so the peace and quiet was magical for us. All relevant info on where everything is and how to work anything was provided in a welcome booklet along with the owners contact details if needed. We will definitely return again thank you for having us.

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage.

It was comfortable, well equipped, and beautifully maintained in a peaceful, quiet location. The fabulous beach just a few minutes away often felt almost private, perfect for relaxing walks and unwinding. We also really appreciated the thoughtful welcome basket with bread, biscuits, and chocolates, along with milk and apple juice in the fridge on arrival. A lovely touch that made us feel at home straight away. Highly recommended.

Relaxing stay and awesome venue for exploring Lunan bay.

Very nice cottage, very quiet, can walk to the beach in a few minutes.

Had a wonderful stay made to feel very welcome the basket of goodies and milk bread and condiments was a very special touch.

Our second time staying at this perfect cottage.

Has everything you could need . Location ideal Owners left a lovely welcome pack. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again .

We had an absolutely brilliant time living at Rowan Cottage.

The welcome pack was very thoughtful and the owners Liam and Rebecca have thought about everything. It really is a home from home. Quiet area with friendly neighbours. The close proximity to the beach is also a big bonus. We will definitely mention to family and friends and hope to book again next year some time. We are now going through the sad process of holiday over trying to get back to normal.

Rowan Cottage may not look much from the outside but it is a true gem.

We had a fantastic week exploring the area and catching up with friends and family. Lunan Bay is just on the doorstep, walking the dogs each morning was a joy with fantastic sunrises, and a beach to ourselves. We had such a relaxing week in this comfortable home from home.

Lovely holiday property very well equipped and clean .

. Wonderful welcome pack left for us which was very appreciated after a long journey. A few light bulbs need replacing in the lounge which meant that the room was a bit gloomy ,and 1 side of the sofa was very uncomfortable as I think the springs had gone . I would definitely recommend this property to others ,we very much enjoyed our stay and our dogs did too .

Loved our stay in the cottage so peaceful.

A short drive or use the private walk through the farm to the beautiful Lunan Bay. The beds were comfy with the new mattresses, we do prefer a firmer bed but got used to them. Well equipped kitchen and a lovely light dining area. The children loved the hot tub, which was still warm the following evening.

The cottage was wonderful.

Well equipped with everything we needed. Lovely hamper to welcome us in. It was very much appreciated. Peaceful, and secluded. We made good use of the hot tub, which felt very private. Lovely beaches nearby and some lovely estates to visit for walks. We ate out a couple of nights, in Sharkys and Saltys restraunts, which were nearby. Both were good and welcomed us with the dog. My one and only gripe is the double bed, so uncomfortable. I was glad for the single bed, which I ended up in most nights. I would return here and would recommend that others visit. (If a new more comfortable mattress, replaced the current one.)

the cottage was lovely, situated in a great place but ordering a takeaway no one could find the cottage.

if it was signposted better at the road end would help. the cottage was clean with all the utensils and a beautiful welcome pack. beautiful walks to the beach but no shop close. coming in through the sliding doors at the back when heavy rain was dangerous due to sliding. cottage was really lovely and clean but the hoover had never been cleaned out for a long time. I still would recommend this cottage to friend and family well worth the money.

Lovely cottage with everything we needed for a week’s stay.

Welcome basket was gratefully received. Beautiful rural location close to beaches. Would stay in Rowan Cottage again and would recommend.

We had a lovely time at Rowan Cottage.

It had everything we needed and it was great we could bring the dogs too. Close to the beach with lots of great walks and places to explore. Everyone was so friendly and the house itself was a great place to relax after all the day trips. The hot tub was an added bonus.

A very well equipped cottage in a beautiful, peaceful area.

Lovely walks along the beach and surrounding area.Cottage sun room was very comfortable. The welcoming pack was very well thought out. The only little aspect that marked down the rating was the uncomfortable bed.The front grass could have been cut before our stay. Overall a very good experience.

Had a fantastic week, stunning scenery and very relaxing, the owners were very accommodating.

THANK YOU.

Great property in a perfect peaceful location.

Cottage has everything you can possibly need and also a thankyou to the small arrival pack. Would recommend this property to anyone. Thanks again

The property had large weeds in the garden, dust webs hanging from the ceilings.

the garden wasn’t secure enough for our dog, we couldn’t use the hot tub as it didn’t appear clean? The beds were very uncomfortable too. I was bitterly disappointed with this property, the pictures on your site were clearly taken some time ago. The welcome basket was full of items that had clearly been left by the previous clients. Not what I expected after a 1/ hour drive.

Well equipped cottage.

Beds really comfortable. Hot tub lovely once you get it fired up. Garden nice to sit out in. Maybe a summer seat at front of house would be nice. A little side gate at the front to make the garden secure. We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here with our two dogs. The walk to the beach every day was just a perfect, relaxing experience. We loved the peace and quiet. Listening to the sound of the sea. The birds singing every day. The Swallows darting around the back garden. Would highly recommend Rowan cottage.

A lovely week away in Rowan Cottage.

Beautiful place with plenty of space for all the family. Gorgeous location, although a little further out than we had thought but we still had a busy few days sightseeing & spending it on the beach with the dogs. Shops in Arbroath & Montrose for your essentials & try out the 2nd Chance at Inverkeilor - traditional home cooked food & the staff are so friendly. Hot tub was just what was needed at the end of the night & it kept the kids quiet :) Will definitely be looking at coming back to Rowan Cottage as it had everything we needed, in a good location & was home away from home for the week. Owners left contact details in case of any issues (which we didn’t have) & the information folder was handy.

The welcome pack is very generous .

It was lovely to have that little extra from the owners as others have been cutting back on goodies . Ideal location for walks for the dogs ,they love the beach through the red gate . Thanks for being thoughtful

A lovely semi detached bungalow secluded in farmland.

Though semi detached it is very private. The hot tub is wood fired and does take a bit of working out to begin with. A spacious, clean and well equipped property with receptive owners should you have queries. We visited Abroath, Montrose ( Which has individual shops ), Aberdeen and Dundee. Close to the picturesque Lunan bay Thank you for a wonderful stay. Would stay again if ever we visited the area gain . Visited Jan 2025.

Nice cottage to stay at and there are all the essentials there for you, nice furniture, kitchen, bathroom, all modern, decor is nice, blinds to match, laundry and cleaning room, nice dining table, love the cottage at the front and back door, great for a wonder with your dog.

Would stick to the road side for walks down to Lunan bay as I was made to be a trespasser going through red gates and along to the beach, I read about others doing this as they wrote it in the visitor book, but If I went back to stay would not go this way.

This is an excellent location as a base for ventures out.

Also close to a beautiful beach of Lunan Bay but watch the tide at the south beach. Definitely a return being planned. Hosts very helpful and friendly, with patience for us wrinkles. Xx M n R

Rowan Cottage was superb.

The cottage was well equipped and spotless when we arrived, and beautifully set in the stunning countryside with a short 15 minute walk to Lunan Bay beach. We spent a week here, including day trips out to the Cairngorms (including Balmoral and Loch Lee), Dunnottar Castle, Arbroath, Montrose, House of Dun, Edinburgh, Loch Lomond, Fettercairn Distillery, and a lot of walks on the beach. The hot tub was brilliant, as was the log fire, and the cottage was extra cosy during one of the storms. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The cottage is lovely, clean, comfortable, peaceful and extremely well equipped.

The heating keeps the cottage nice and warm, and the wood burning stove was most welcome to stave off the chilly October nights. Although we didn't use it, the hot tub is a fabulous idea and the enclosed rear garden ideal for visitors with dogs, who will also love the wide open beach just a short walk down the track. Smokies and fresh, dressed crab from one of the fish mongers in Arbroath were fab and we would thoroughly recommend a trip to Glamis Castle and check out the Gin Bothy, the Gingerbread liquer is delicious! As an experienced holiday home owner I would make two suggestion, which are in no way critiscisms, a couple of side or table lamps in the living room as the wall lights make the room a little 'stark' and a toilet roll holder. Other than that we enjoyed it so much we have already booked again for next February!

We had a lovely 5 nights in Rowan cottage, home on the 12th of October.

Fastidiously clean, comfortable and cosy. Lovely wood burning stove and spa, which once you got the hang of heating the water to the correct temperature was great to have. The kitchen had just about everything you could need and good to have some of the kitchen cupboard basics at hand. The owners were very quick to resolve an issue we had with the TV signal. A garden bench out front would be an added bonus as we had some lovely sun in the front garden. Very central too for runs to Arbroath and Montrose, both worth visiting and only 6/7 miles away. Lunan bay a mile away is a heavenly beach with St Cyrus beach about 15 miles away. If you have time a visit to Glamis Castle near Forfar is a must. Lovely time - thanks|!

We had an amazing week staying in Rowan Cottage, the area was beautiful and peaceful and the cottage itself has everything we needed and was exactly what we needed for our family holiday.

The neighbours were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be back again.

An absolutely wonderful cottage, very well equipped and very comfortable.

What made it even better for us was the quiet, sitting outside of an evening hearing only the birds and the waves breaking on Lunan beach about 500m away as the crows fly was so relaxing. Lunan beach can be reached by a farm track within 10 mins. On a sunny July day we saw about 10 people on a 2 mile beach. Our 2 labradors had a ball. Loved it.

This cottage is situated in a lovely location so close to the beach which was ideal for the dogs.

The cottage was extremely clean and well laid out and everything you could require in the kitchen. We lived in the back room as it was so light and airy and easy to let dogs in and out. Didn't use the hot tub so can't comment on it. The only thing for the information booklet would be to add how to get to the beach (I did text owner and was given directions) and also as a dog friendly cottage, the nearest vet in case of emergencies would be useful. I would have no hesitation in coming back to this property.

Absolutely fantastic cottage in a beautiful setting/area 10 mins walk to the fabulous Lunan Bay Beach (with private access to beach) great area to explore, Arbroath, Montrose, Brechin, Edzell and Friockheim are all just a drive away with great walks and dog friendly coffee shops .

Very well equipped everything that you would need, comfy beds outside hot tub ( that we didn’t use) on a lovely secluded patio are at the back ,sunroom is lovely to sit with patio doors to patio are which enclosed and safe for dogs ( front garden grass but not enclosed) Owner Liam was very friendly and helpful and on hand if required. We visited with our dog collie dog and we all loved our holiday and would recommend and may return in the future

Overall, quite satisfied with the cottage.

There were some cleanliness issues on arrival but none so bad that the owner had to be contacted. It had everything we needed, however the sofas could perhaps be replaced with something comfier. Location wise this property is exceptional. The beautiful beach was just a 10 minute walk away, absolutely perfect for dogs & kids. Arbroath & Montrose are both just a short drive away, so no need to go far for supplies. So many beautiful places to visit in the area. The icing on the cake for our visit was seeing the Northern Lights and 2 bottle-nosed dolphins in the bay. We had a fantastic stay and would love to go back.

Lovely venue, with access to inside attractions between 15 and 45 mins away, it was clean and tidy and comfortable.

Great walks over the cliffs and surrounding area, if weather had been drier. I would have like a really sharp knife and veg peeler…… I will take my own in future. We did enjoy the hot tub, but due to the weather only used it once.

Lovely cottage ,well kept and maintained Log fire a bonus which was lovely as we could put it on and the dogs appreciated it too after a wet walk .

Beach is so handy ,you don’t need to go far for a walk . Hope to stay again .

Very well equipped cozy cottage.

In a great spot to escape from it all. Bed in main bedroom is super comfy. Log burner was great especially during the winter months. Hot tub was just superb especially after a long walk on the beach with the dogs. Front garden isn't enclosed for dogs so didn't use it but back garden enclosed and our boys enjoyed it. Couple off minutes walk to the beach and not far from Lunan Bay beach which was just lovely. Would highly recommend Rowan Cottage

We had a brilliant stay at rowan cottage nice and clean quiet and the hot tub brilliant once we figured how to work it Arbroath and Montrose where in driving distance lot's of places to go and get something to eat and go shopping.

I would recommend Rowan cottage if you want peace and quiet 10-10 we are going to be going back

Lovely cottage well equipped owners were very helpful and came out to solve a small issue for us very quickly
