Min Y Don

This is our second year at this lovely house.

We love it here. The views are stunning. It is well equipped and we love the layout of the property. It has a Smart TV and Sky so plenty of viewing choice. Parking is ideal, in front of the property. There are lovely walks from the property and it is a great base for visits to Anglesey, Caernarfon, Bangor, Llandudno and many more. Communication from the owner prior to our arrival was friendly, welcoming and informative. (Our only concern, is the beds are extremely uncomfortable.)

A fantastic place to stay.

Very clean and well equipped, has everything you need and is very comfy. Fantastic views and a great base for exploring north-west Wales. I have never revisited a property as I like to explore new areas, but when we come back up this way in a few years time I would gladly stay here again.

Fantastic views and close shops and pubs near by

This was our fourth stay at Min Y Don, so that says it all.

A very comfy home with amazing views. We loved the balcony, spent most of our time on it, but even if weather wasn’t good, you can still enjoy the fabulous views from inside. It has everything you need, well stocked kitchen, great shower and a big bedroom. Parking is always easy and we love it so much, we’ve booked again for next year, but this time for two weeks. The area is lovely and quiet and so relaxing just watching the bird life, boaters and the seal. Swellies is a great for breakfast and lunch and just a few minutes walk away. Min Y Don was a perfect place to recharge our batteries.

It had everything you would need and was extremely comfortable. The view from the balcony was perfect and we loved it so much we've already booked to go back next year.

Centrally located and spoilt for choice with lots of lovely eating establishments close by.

The house is well equiped and comfortable. The weather was stormy and unpredictable at times, but with that view from the house it really doesn't matter!

The property is delightful with the most beautiful views.

Parking outside is very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay and would come again. The only negative comment would be not being allowed in until 5pm, this is ridiculously late. After travelling all day I just want to get in, get unpacked and settled. We self cater throughout the year and usually the time allowed in is between 1 and 4, never as late as 5.

Loved sitting on the balcony watching the tide come in/go out and seeing the birds and boats. It's a perfect base for exploring Anglesey, Snowdonia and the North Wales coast. There were a couple of issues, but I called to report them (the microwave didn't work and the dishwasher was out of salt and rinse aid - supplies were provided the same day) and they were very apologetic and acted quickly to address them. I advised we didn't really use the microwave much, so it didn't need urgent replacement, but hopefully it has been fixed/replaced for the next holiday makers.

Min Y Don is just an amazing holiday home.

We have been twice before and we’ve booked again for 2026. It’s such a super comfy place, beautifully decorated and with the added bonus of a big balcony with amazing views right over the Menai Straits. The owners Peter and Victoria emailed us with any info needed and with their phone numbers incase of any issues, which was a lovely touch. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/oven trays everything you need for a self catering stay, which in some homes we’ve stayed before, you get just the basic, but here I don’t need to bring anything from home. There was a pint of milk in the fridge, tea/coffee and sugar provided and the lovely touch was a bottle of wine left for us. Parking is no issue, there is plenty in front of the house. The balcony is just amazing, just sitting there watching the boats go by and the birdlife is fabulous. We saw a seal catch a huge fish which took him a long time to eat, so had a good view which we loved. Even if the weather isn’t kind, you still get a great view from the big sliding door. 5 minute walk away is the little marina/ lock which has a pub/bar and a great cafe called Swellies right by the boats. If you want peace and quiet and a fantastic place to unwind, then Min Y Don is perfect. Lots of great places to visit, we love Beaumaris, Dinis Dinelle Beach near Caernarfon airport and RAF Valley is a short drive away to watch planes fly aswell.

A great week in this lovely, comfortable and well equipped holiday cottage.

Enjoyed the amazing view, watching the tide going in and out and various water sports. Close to local amenities including shop, pub and Chinese chip shop. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for a lovely holiday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We had all the kitchen equipment we could need, comfortable sofas and a view to die for. The whole area has so much to offer, and we were out and about every day during our two week stay. We were so lucky with the weather, - sunshine every day. Our only problem was not being able to get the bathroom towel rail to work, but that was a fairly minor thing. Thank you for letting us use your property.

We enjoyed staying at the property very much, it has everything you could need.

It's very comfortable with plenty of room . The position of the property is amazing, with stunning views across the estuary. The balcony is a bonus , we had lovely evening's watching the activities and wildlife on the water sat with a glass of wine just bliss

What an absolutely stunning view! We really enjoyed our time there.

Loved the place great to have the living area upstairs so you can open out the patio doors onto an area with chairs and table directly overlooking the Menai waters.

Great location and view, nice reasonably well presented house although showing its age in places with a few minor general maintenance issues but nothing to detract from our stay.

As we are both in our mid 70s we found that the sofas were uncomfortable and past their best but this may not be an issue with younger more flexible guests

Amazing view from balcony, could sit there all day. Lovely walks from property and great pub with good food a short stroll away in village. We'll be back.

Accommodation is in a superb setting.

Access earlier than 5pm would be better. A simple map of the village and menu from pub and Chinese would have been useful. Lovely and clean and comfortable. X

Lovely well equipped comfortable property.

Nice patio with fantastic sea view to watch the boats and wildlife going about their daily business. We have been here three times and we’ve booked again for next year.

We’ve been to Min y Don for a few weeks each year for the past three years as it is such a peaceful and relaxing place to unwind and refresh with the stunning views and sunsets from the balcony.

Great for watching the different sailing boats pass by as well as the wading birds at low tide. This year, the accommodation was much improved with the lovely new shower room. It was also very well presented when we arrived, thanks to the new cleaning company. Once again, a delightful visit. We have already booked again for June 2025! Annie & Gary

Fantastic property.

The views are breathtaking with so much to see on the water. It is set in a lovely village with good access to Anglesey. We loved it and will certainly want to revisit soon.

Couldn’t get the tv/dvd players to work.

Found the right hand set in bedroom with batteries corroded in it. Otherwise fablas!

We had a lovely week at Min y Don.

The cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped. The views were spectacular and in a handy location for travelling around north wales. Thank you.

The property was as expected the view of the marina was very nice the only problem was the broadband which was very slow and in desperate need of upgrades I ran a speed check and only got 4.

9 mbs and took over 3 minutes for Netflix to open with constant interruptions while it was buffering.I would suggest upgrading to at least 76mds its only £24.00 from origin broadband.

We had a fantastic holiday in a lovely property with everything we needed.

The view from the balcony is stunning. One day it was very stormy and raining all day, we watched the weather rolling in from inside the balcony patio doors feeling very cosy. We definitely hope to return.

Highly recommended - A peaceful location to relax on the Menai Strait - With a great gateway to Snowdonia National Park, Anglesey and the world Heritage site of Conwy.

Absolutely lovely property and a beautiful location!

The balcony and the sea view is incredible. The property was very well equipped with everything we needed for our week stay. The two things I would comment on are the VERY HOT water! The owners have put warning stickers by the taps but it must be at boiling point coming from the tap! I filled the bowl to wash up, went off to do something else, came back to it and my sons water bottle (regular drinks bottle from the high street) had totally melted and shrunk! Now that is scarily hot water in the tap. I thinks this is quite dangerous to be honest. Can the temperature not be adjusted on the boiler for safety? Also, we feel the property should have a food waste caddy as we only realised later on during our week that there was a food waste bin outside in the communal area but no food waste bin to collect it in inside the property. We had a fabulous week and would highly recommend this property. The welcome pack on arrival of a bottle of Prosecco and a Bara Brith cake and butter was very welcome after a long journey. Thank You

We enjoyed our stay at Min y Don very much.

The cottage was clean, comfortable and in a superb location for the village but very quiet. The balcony was lovely and so sheltered. we loved the decor, the artwork and colour scheme gave a relaxed atmosphere and was perfect for a seaside location. We hope that the minor issues with the balcony door and the kettle will be sorted soon.

We had a wonderful fortnight at Min y Don in June (our second visit) enjoying the stunning views, relaxing surroundings and good facilities.

We love the seaside theming of the rooms and relaxing on the decking with a G&T whilst watching the wading birds, sailing boats & views over to Anglesey. Our only disappointment was the shower, which we (and other guests) have reported. We reported the same problem last year too and is still the same. It quickly fills up the shower tray with water as you are showering because the drain is blocked - probably with hair etc. Please can you have a drainage engineer out to get it cleared so that everything at Min y Don is tip top again. Everything else was fabulous. Many thanks Annie & Gary

The best thing about this accommodation is the awesome view over the Menai, from the first floor balcony and it was reasonably comfortable to stay there.

The location is a beautiful place to stay but unfortunately there are some negatives to mention. The ground floor patio was is a very poor state and not usable. The entire place was ‘tired’ and in need of a freshen up. It needed a really good cleaning throughout, particularly the grout between the tiles in the shower cubicle as it was black. None of the windows have been cleaned in a long time and the main patio doors were very hard to slide open and close. Finally, the symbols on the cooker controls were worn out, so it was hard to tell what the settings were. So all in all, a thorough cleaning and a bit of a re-furb would turn Min Y Don into a very nice place to stay.

But other than that great property and location

The property is a little tired and basic in places for the price paid.

The bathroom was dirty and we had to clean and disinfect it before we could use so not the best start to our holiday. The shower doesn’t drain properly and needs attention. The kitchen and lounge were fine and the views superb.

Even better than it looked on the website.

A lovely place with everything you need, and a truly wonderful view and location. We will be back!

This is an excellent property that makes the most of a brilliant view over the Menai Straits.

I enjoyed sitting out on the balcony which was extremely relaxing. A comfortable place, nice and clean with a well equipped kitchen. In a lovely quiet residential area but is very handy for the A55 and the delights of Anglesey and North Wales. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property and hope to return there again myself.

Great location great views lovely property and finally great little touches such as milk in the fridge, bottle of wine, some butter and a nice loaf cake.

Great property with amazing sea views.

Unexpected welcome pack was a nice gesture. We have stayed previously (three times) at another property in this row. That property has now outpriced itself and necessitated lugging suitcases up three flights of stairs, so it was nice here that the bedrooms were on the ground floor. The weather was sunny all week, so we made good use of the balcony and visited many places (some new to us) in the area. Would have liked to book a second visit later in the year, but unsurprisingly it is booked up!

your company under-sold it the accommodation was 5STAR ++ NOTHING was needed apart from food / toiletries to take or buy after arrival just 13 minutes drive from every retail business you could imagine and less than 5 minutes drive to the local post office / store little gifts were left for us on arrival, above and beyond anything expected everything both inside and outside the cottage were immaculate the surrounding areas were manicured to perfection the view was breathtaking the patio and balcony were pure gifts to add to the experience there was something familiar, new or saw it for the first time both night and day in the harbour the owners, caretakers and housekeepers just THANK YOU there is so much more that we could add such a kind, warming and helpful community too absolutely 5 STAR ++

Min-y-Don is the most beautiful place to stay.

On the edge of the Menai Straits with a spacious balcony facing the most fantastic view. A really wonderful place for ornithologists with all sorts of sea birds and even the odd seal, and pheasants on the lawns! to view with the binoculars at the property. Very comfortable beds! Cool bedrooms downstairs on a hot day and the spacious open plan lounge, kitchen, diner upstairs with patio doors to the balcony . Spotlessly clean. Ideally placed for Anglesey, Snowdonia, North Wales coast. In the centre of Anglesey is Llangefni and its Gallery (Art by C F Tunnicliffe, the bird artist who had lived at Malltraeth , and that’s worth a visit too! Portmadoc, Portmerion , Beddgellert , Llanfairfechan etc.etc. Highly recommended!

Excellent holiday at Min y Don.

Very comfortable accomodation and the view was amazing. Very well appointed kitchen. We had a lovely time, many interesting places to visit and good walks. Happy to recommend and would love to visit again.

Steep steps from car park difficult for anyone with mobility problems.

Great position overlooking Menai straits with good sized balcony. Lots of wild birds coming and going feeding just in front of the property.

It was perfect for us.

The view is beautiful and it was a very relaxing break. The house provided everything we needed with Snowdon and Anglesey within easy distance.

The view was fantastic from the windows in the open plan living area and sitting on the balcony watching the boats and general activities on the Menai Straits was very entertaining. The property was also well situated for easy access to all the best places to visit, shopping, walking and sight seeing. Have stayed there before and hope to do so again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

There were only a couple of small issues, but the property had everything we needed and with its outstandingly beautiful view we had a wonderful holiday! It was a good base for exploring in all directions. We would happily stay at Min-Y-Don again.

The view from the letting was outstanding and the area was pretty and accessible for a lot of activities in Snowdonia/Anglesey area.

The property is in desperate need of a makeover.

It felt as if we couldn't touch anything without it breaking. The bed linen was very poor, it didn't fit the bed ending up in a knot in the centre of the bed. There was only half a toilet roll. (We bought more). The balcony furniture included a very rusty table. The view from the balcony is fabulous but in my view that's all it's got. We booked for a week and left two days early. Disappointed and would not recommend this property.

Thank you to the owners for their thoughtfulness in providing a very comfortable and well equipped holiday home in a magnificent location which we enjoyed in part, mostly as the good weather allowed us to be outdoors on the sun terrace for some of the time.

We had looked forward to a complete week of unwinding and relaxation as your listing promised. This would have been possible if the house had been clean and some necessary maintenance carried out. We make the following comments in the hope that the cleaning & maintenance company will provide good service to future tenants. On arrival we found the odour from the bathroom overpowering & disconcerting. We did our best with bleach to clean the filthy drain at the back of the washbasin, shower drain and toilet, which significantly improved the situation, but recommend the bathroom drainage be investigated. The interior windows and mirrors were quite unclean, & interior had not been dusted. Exterior windows of the downstairs bedroom were filthy with green algae round the edges demonstrating they had not been cleaned for some considerable time. I cleaned them to allow my elderly mother who was sleeping in this bedroom to enjoy the view. The oven needs a deep clean - when you use it you get all the greasy smell from previous usage in the lovely open plan living space upstairs. Curtain track on dining room window is falling off the wall - needs re-fixing - and curtain rehanging Twin bedroom curtains need rehanging. With attention to these points the house will be magnificent. Thank you.

Go to Min Y Don 1 to 2 times a year.

Love the cottage and the view. A very relaxing holiday, you can watch the boats go by and the wading birds at low tide from the balcony. Would recommend the location for easy access to Anglesey and Snowdonia.

A very clean and well equipped town house with superb views across the straits to Anglesey.

Excellent restaurant in the marina and walking distance to a friendly pub serving very good food. Cycle way close by, parking easy, nice walks. Easy road access to larger towns and Anglesey. Top spot!

I have had the pleasure of staying at Min-Y-Don on 3 separate occasions.

The property is the perfect location for us to enjoy golfing and walking holidays, with its close proximity to Snowdonia. We have always found Min-Y-Don to be maintained to the highest standards, it has excellent facilities and is always very clean…. a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The views from Min-Y-Don are spectacular and a must see!! Felinheli provides some excellent places for an evening meal just a short walk from the property… with the Garddfon being a real favourite of ours. Highly recommend a stay!
