The holiday let is beautiful and immaculate. John and James were fabulous hosts on hand if needed. The welcome pack, bed linen and towels were of high quality and very much appreciated. We had an amazing holiday exploring the island and beaches. At the end of the evening the ducks were very entertaining and put on a really good show. I would definitely recommend Pen Y Prys. Thank you John and James.

It has everything you may need, with a very generous welcome pack on arrival. John and James are very friendly and welcoming and on hand if needed. Excellent location for walks on the beach, bird spotting or just watching the changing views. Lots of places to visit nearby, Beaumaris, The Hidden Garden, South Stacks lighthouse, The Motor Museum also worth a visit ( did the Motor Museum on the one rainy day we had). The Panton Arms Pub nearby also good, very friendly and good food reasonably priced. Would definitely return and could spend a week just watching the Indian Running Ducks, Geese, and Chickens which were very entertaining, not forgetting Tom the cat! All in all a wonderful week for our first visit to Anglesey and don’t think we could have found a better place to stay.

  • "Lovely comfortable clean holiday cottage set in the most amazing location."

You can start your holiday from the door with the beach and walks from the doorstep. The view of the Bay changes daily with the tides bringing a new delight every morning when you look outside. From the ducks and chickens in the garden to the sea birds in the streams we were entertained by them all. We visited the whole island from here and walked many miles of the breath taking coastal paths, beaches, fen wetlands, forests,NT homes and gardens and pretty country lanes. Anglesey has it all and deserves its status as an area of outstanding natural beauty and no more so than this little cottage in Pentreath Red Wharf Bay. It was a pleasure to come back to after each day out exploring. We were sad, but very grateful to say good bye to it at the end of a thoroughly enjoyable weeks holiday. Feeling totally relaxed and restored thanks to the hospitality of John and son James who made us most welcome. Highly recommend this cottage to singles, couples and small families Thank you John and James for your kindness and generosity during our stay. I’m am now a convert to duck eggs for breakfast Best wishes

Spotlessly clean and well thought out, all amenities one would expect are present and correct to make it a real home from home. Situated as close to the sea as is possible without getting one’s feet wet, the views are spectacular and (IMHO having stayed at several locations in the vicinity) the best in Red Wharf Bay. We leave Pen y Prys a little saddened for having to do so, but thoroughly refreshed; and like others before us, we shall miss the morning and evening parades of our feathered friends as they are tenderly guided home by John and James. Oh btw, James, many thanks for the kind gifts: they were delicious (the eggs not the birds!). Debbie and Jon

..the bathrooms were also difficult to use because of the ceiling height and a shower was impossible to have due to the layout...there were no tables, drawers, chairs, wardrobes or lamps in the bedrooms, which you would expect... I think the property should be changed to one decent sized bedroom with a bathroom as this would be a lot more comfortable and homely...we were a couple and thought it would have been way too small for 4 people... All in all we enjoyed our stay at Pen-y-Prys and the owners were a lovely family and we really enjoyed watching the livestock...

Dear Karen It was lovely to meet you both and thank you for choosing Pen Y Prys Annexe for your week away. We are so pleased you found the location to be fabulous and really enjoyed watching the livestock. Thank you for your comments and feedback. As per the description to maximise space we decided to locate the wardrobe between the two bedrooms and drawers under the beds for storage. In addition to the main bedroom ceiling lights, we located separate fixed bedside lamps on the walls (as shown in the photos). Having two double rooms not only helps to accommodate for 4 guests but also caters for 2 guests that are unable or prefer not to share one double bed together e.g. friends or family members. There must be lots of people in their £1m+ properties around Ynys Môn wishing they could've built their fancy places here. But Pen-y-prys has more in other ways too - it has character. It's not something laid on especially for visitors but it's still great to watch the numerous and entertaining runner ducks as they're released every morning and go back inside every evening, plus the many other birds like the French hens, the geese, the cockerel, the hens and also the donkeys. And whilst there's privacy at Pen-y-prys it also has very friendly owners when you see them from time to time. Headroom is a little restricted upstairs with the sloping ceilings and baths or sit-down showers are the order of the day, but generally speaking there's plenty of space to spend a week away from home in comfort. Highly recommended.

The location could not be more beautiful - the very last dwelling before the spectacular beach - and the owners are really lovely. We received such an easy and warm welcome, with milk in the fridge and cake on the table, and our entire experience was one of peace and calm and charm. The little adjoining field is home to some award-winning runner ducks and chickens, and it was an unexpected bonus to see these comical creatures - fascinating to watch, and judging by the enthusiastic comments from one and all in the Visitors' Book, we're not alone in being completely enchanted by them. This is the kind of place you find yourself wishing you could stay in forever - just perfect! Pentraeth is a lovely part of Anglesey, and it is within easy distance of so many stunning and interesting places. This time we visited the striking and massive Caernarfon Castle, and enjoyed the many informative displays now housed within it. We even had a rainbow, just to put the icing on the cake of a wonderful stay!

  • "The listing clearly shows wifi and smart tv of which neither are provided."

We wouldn't have booked this place had we known this. As this was our Xmas break we particularly wanted the treat of a smart tv to watch films. We needed wifi to be in video contact to share time with our close family in Australia, my elderly parents in UK and our close friends in South Africa who were having a week of celebrations prior to getting married. We couldn't share in any of our friends and family moments by video link from the property and were extremely disappointed. We would not have booked this property had the listing been accurate regarding these. I spoke to the owner and he confirmed that there was no wifi other than that of their attached house, which rarely works as they are at the end of a limited band width supply. He was surprised that the tv might show films on net flix as he didn't think the tv could do this - so why is a smart tv listed? The wifi wouldn't support any video call at all and was mostly unavailable, I checked it with a wifi meter app and rarely did it bump onto one out of five bars and was usually shown as unavailable. The owner explained that wifi rarely works at this place due to no band width being available, a problem he had previously brought up with his broad band supplier which he was aware had not and could not be resolved. At this property we couldn't receive our own wifi on various devices and the phone signal was low so we were left out of sharing our usual and expected on line face to face enjoyment of our friends and families celebrations. I did manage to get one film to show on the tv on my Netflix account on the tv but this kept band wheeling and was impossible to repeat due to no wifi signal being available throughout the rest of our stay. The photograph of the side view of the property we found misleading as both of the access doors shown are doors into the owners much used utility area, loo and store cupboard with an adjoining internal door to the holiday property lounge, which take up quite a bit (?one third?) of the ground floor area but this isn't explained. The holiday property is accessed through the patio doors only. Apart from the expectation that the ground floor was the footprint of the property rather than just the much smaller area, the property itself was great as were the owners who are usually close by, attending to the many ducks, chickens and geese and two goats.

Thank you for taking the time to write feedback. As mentioned we are looking to improve the WiFi service available but are frustrating confined by the network. The mobile signal is dependant on the providers and again is affected by the geographical landscape of the island. If you have any questions regarding these services in the future please do call for advice. Property Owner
