  • "The property was lovely and the area is very good."

I contacted the owners who were very helpful and friendly. They were there if needed but kept a distance. The information on the Sykes website however contradicted it self and was incorrect, they say it's circumstances, but this is the third time I've used them and they got it wrong.

  • "The lodge was just a hundred metres away from the lodge, which meant that my husband could canoe at anytime of the day or late evening!"

He had a fantastic time looking at the beaver dams and the wildlife, very peaceful and serene. The lodge has a very authentic look with fires in all the bedrooms and the lounge. The lodge was large, warm and cosy. An ideal location to get away from it all, whilst still only being a few miles away from Alyth or Forfar for any big shopping. On the last day we found the Wee Bear Cafe in Lintrathen Village, just a short distance away from the lodge, which had homemade cakes and light lunches, all delicious would recommend a visit.

  • "The Lodge was everything we hoped for and more."

It is a wonderful house and a lovely private garden. We had a fantastic stay, the Lodge had everything anyone could ask for. It was a short stroll through the woods to a beautiful loch. The owners are lovely and only minutes away should you need them. My sons, the dog and I had a wonderful time. Bikes can be hired locally, which my sons did. Highly recommended.

  • "Fabulous location rural and rustic."

The property was over 100 years old and had many of the original fixtures. Modernised in tthe important areas of the kitchen and bathroom. The area as described was rural. Far from the madding crowd. With a car we could pop to any nearby facility. Breakfast at Peel Farm and coffee shop. Shopping in Blairgowrie. Pub in Alyth. The living area at West Lodge was very spacious. The kitchen was great for cooking or eating. Dining table in living room was big for larger groups. The bedrooms were huge. Each bed was different so pick your bed carefully. Loads of draws and cupboard space. The bathroom was modern again a huge room. I used the shower only but equally the bath was there if needed. Many easy walks on nearby flat areas including the loch. Loch has angling. Golf courses are plentiful. Was very enjoyable stay with a brief visit from the owner to ensure every thing was perfect.

  • "Had a lovely relaxing holiday, absolutely loved the cottage, Alistair was a great host, would definitely like to return"

    Mrs Lori ThirdJan 2026

  • "The property is unique and has real character."

Set in amongst nature, it's the perfect location to really get away from it all. My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope to visit again. The owners are extremely accommodating and couldn't have been kinder. This house is a rare gem and hugely recommended.

  • "We had a great week and will return."

House has everything including a beautiful big lounge and fireplace, and huge bedrooms. Great walks from the door , cycling around the area was stunning , very few cars in May which was perfect , can’t ever imagine the roads getting that busy at other times too! Great walk around the Loch and a couple of nearby places to sit outside for a coffee and a relax. Cairngorms just up the road, stunning countryside all around. Beds comfy, kitchen has everything. Not an enclosed garden so had to keep dog on lead while outside but a terrier just can’t stand still! Other dogs may be fine if they do as they are asked! Excellent , well recommend . And so quiet too!

    Mr Philip YousterJan 2026

  • "We spent a very enjoyable week at West Lodge."

The house is very spacious but aso comfortable and cosy, and in a beautiful setting with an abundance of wildlife all around. Although in a rural setting the house is within easy reach by car to explore this lovely part of Scotland. There are also numerous walks just by stepping outside the door. There was so much more we wanted to see and do but simply ran out of time! We wish we had booked 2 weeks instead of just the 1, so intend to return in the future.

    Mr Raymond AddisonJan 2026

  • "The cottage was in a rural location so quiet and peaceful."

Comfy beds and lots of towels. Cleanliness wasn’t 100% and it would have been nice to have deckchairs as the weather was beautiful and we only had a bench to sit on.

    Mr Andrew WoodJan 2026

  • "The lodge was a delight with every comfort provided."

. Wonderful walk to Loch through rhodedendrums which were at there best when we were there. Could not find spot pictured in photographs though. But apart from that we will return next year. A perfect location ror a holiday , central for so much wonderful scenery and also close to coast.

  • "Great house in an idyllic location ."

full of original features and bonus of open fire. very homely and well equipped. owners are 5 minutes away by phone call if you need them but otherwise you are left alone. great period property. would benefit from having an extra toilet - I can imagine it might get tricky if there were 6 people staying. we were fine just my husband myself and the dog. Loch is 150metres down the lane. perfect for swimming in and using a kayak- we did both. loved it. I’m sure we will be back.

    Mrs Julie ColmanJan 2026

  • "There were 6 of us and a dog, the location, local amenities and house itself were absolutely perfect."

5 minutes from the Loch, a coffee shop/lunch venue, 10 mins drive from a shop but you still feel like you are in the middle of a beautiful countryside! Couldn't recommend the property or the lovely property owners enough.

    Miss Rosie MurrayJan 2026

  • "The whole experience was amazing."

    Lovely house. Lovely people.

    Mrs Kathleen CharlsonJan 2026

  • "We all had an absolute blast, when the owner contacted me she offered to put up Christmas decorations for us and the house looked so cosy and inviting, we had absolutely everything we wanted from our stay at West Lodge and would highly recommend the place to anyone who is looking for a chilled out, relaxed, tranquil and stress free time."

The views to be had on any walk you go on are absolutely amazing and the Loch is so beautiful and the walk is such a short distance from the house. We had an amazing Christmas thank you. The Redmans.

    Mrs Stephanie-jo RedmanJan 2026

  • "We we're looking for quiet and minimal neighbors and that is exactly what we got The lodge and what we found when we got there far exceeded the description supplied and the owner was on hand from booking until the return any queries we're promptly responded to."

Given the current circumstances the Lodge was immaculate on arrival and we had no concerns regarding health and safety

    Mrs Ann BellJan 2026

  • "This was a lovely house in a stunning area."

We were very happy and comfortable there and were very pleased that everything was very easy e.g. getting the key, and it was very clear on what was expected of us as guests (e.g. clear arrival and departure times, covid safety measures). The surrounding area is beautiful, very close to a spectacular lake, quiet, great wildlife, nearby farm and coffee place for a treat too. A very relaxing and enjoyable experience (even with two kids) and very nice hosts, contacted us before arrival and were welcoming and reassuringly, available if we needed anything - they also provided information about the area and provided plenty of facilities (e.g. for cooking, making a fire). Thank you Diane and Alastair for allowing us a much needed break in your house.

  • "We had a wonderful stay at West Lodge, could recommend it highly enough!"

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting, even saw a Deer in the garden ....just amazing ☺️ Same for the Reeki Linn Waterfall and the Loch both a definite must, then either to Peel Farm or The Wee Bear before heading back to chill and enjoy both inside and outside space and scenery.

    Mr Jamie WynneApr 2021

  • "West Lodge was amazing, the very small walk to the Loch is a must (less than 100m away)."

Lots of places near by for walks, which was ideal for me and my dog. The owners didn't interfere in our holiday, but was always a phone call away. We'll impressed will definitely be returning.

    David ThompsonNov 2020

  • "Lodge was spotless with ample cleaning supplies."

The lodge was spacious, full of character and sits in a beautiful part of Scotland. Plenty of room for 6 people and 3 cars. The owners were very easy to communicate with.

    Miss Ashleigh LennonApr 2020

  • "Fantastic house, it was far better than a similar house we booked last year through a different company!"

The house was everything we had hoped for and was very comfortable. Alastair came and checked we were ok and could work everything and then left us well alone. Great place and I thoroughly recommend it.

    Mr David GrahamJul 2019

  • "Very friendly welcome, perfect situation for walks and exploring this part of Scotland."

Enjoyed being so close to the Loch, great for wildlife, we're sure we spotted a couple of Ospreys. The Peel farm shop is a short walk away ideal for breakfast, then there the Wee Bear Cafe in the other direction with their mouthwatering cake selection!

    Mrs Amanda RowarkFeb 2019

  • "Lovely area to be in at this time of year."

Scenery is stunning with the colours of Autumn. Plenty of wildlife to see when dog walking especially at the Loch if you're there early morning or dusk. Peel Farm cafe is great for food and the adjoining shop has some lovely gifts etc. Glamis Castle is a great day out and only 20 mins away by car.

The property

West Lodge is a beautiful Edwardian lodge situated in woodland grounds near the picturesque village of Lintrathen in Scotland.

West Lodge is just a short walk through the woods to the beautiful Lintrathen Loch.

West Lodge offers guests a real home-from-home, combining traditional and modern interiors with access to the beautiful Scottish countryside and links to its history.

It’s ideal for groups of friends and families wanting to explore East Scotland.

The local area offers plenty of activities to enjoy.

The large living/dining area provides the perfect location to relax or reflect on your day’s events.

As well as a stylish dining table, the room also features a traditional fireplace.

The warming fires are not just left to the living/dining area; however, all three of the property’s bedrooms feature them too.

The first double room is located on the ground floor with an en-suite toilet and basin, while the remaining two double rooms and the family bathroom can be found up the spiral staircase on the first floor.

The spacious kitchen makes meal preparation easy, while there’s even a table and chairs within it, so the chefs of the group have somewhere to enjoy a hot drink while the dish is being prepared in the oven.

The property also features a bathroom on the first floor.

The properties, garden and woodland are contained within hedges and trees, which also include a picnic table and BBQ.

Loch of Lintrathen is a short stroll through the woodland and offers a boat house with fishing from boats (with a permit).

You are also welcome to kayak, canoe and swim in the Loch.

The town of Kirriemuir is just nine miles away, and much like the Loch, it provides visitors with plenty to enjoy.

Known as the gateway to the Angus Glens, the area offers a beautiful, unspoiled landscape.

It’s also famous for being the birthplace of Peter Pan author JM Barrie, with his house now being a museum.

Golfers are also able to take in some of the area’s great courses, namely Kirriemuir, Glenisla, Strathmore and Alyth.

Kirriemuir also boasts Glamis Castle, an aviation museum, as well as the splendid Pictish Stones at Meigle.

Just a two-minute stroll away, Peel Farm Coffee and Crafts shop offers a nature trail and animals for the children to see.

Further afield, the Angus Glens offer some of the most picturesque walks and climbing in all of Britain.

While the wide variety of pubs, restaurants and shops offer something for everyone.

Set in a truly stunning part of Scotland and offering a wide range of activities for all holiday makers, West Lodge is the ideal location for an unforgettable break.
