  • "This was a great find."

Thougthfully decorated, spotlessly clean, well equipped, with welcome essentials. Great ambience to the place, with lots of spaces and places to chill in the garden. We came with our Collie dog, Lucy, who was made to feel at home. Geoff and Lynn, our hosts were welcoming, had thought of everything we could need on arrival, and helpful without being intrusive. I have no doubt we will be back. Highly recommend.

  • "Lynne and Geoff were great hosts, willing to help but not intrusive and very tolerant of our dogs."

The cottage was in a lovely location, well maintained and furnished to a high standard which more than exceeded our expectations. As an extra the weather was excellent and allowed us to fully enjoy the great garden and surrounding countryside. Sykescottages were also extremely efficient in handling our booking…an ideal location for travelling around the area and we would definitely like to visit again.

  • "If you're looking for a very comfortable yet quirky cottage then this is for you."

It's beautifully decorated and you can tell the owners have gone to a lot of trouble. The welcome basket was a lovely surprise. The various lighting is very atmospheric and you can't beat walking into a cottage that already has the wood fire burning. If you're a dog owner, then your furry friend is well looked after - they provide everything you'd need for your dog including treats, towels and even poo bags! There are plenty of lovely outdoor places to sit and enjoy the surroundings but unfortunately the weather didn't allow for that when we were there. The shower is a little small and pokey but other than that everything else is very nice - including very comfy beds and owners who are incredibly warm and welcoming.

  • "Absolute hidden gem of a holiday home -- the property very naturally and organically extends onto gorgeous surrounding woodlands."

The garden area feels like a fairy-tale with loads of very picturesque places to sit and take in the scenery, as well as multiple firepits that were well enjoyed by us as well. Interior is just as beautifully decorated with cosy homespun touches and *very* comfortable beds and bedding (and I'm fussy about this!). We brought two dogs with us who were equally as comfortable in the home and garden (although do note there are other dogs near the property if your dog gets easily stressed around other dogs), and the owners are the most fantastic lovely people who are just next door and were consistently helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Can't wait to stay again!

The property facilities were tastefully presented making the surrounds very relaxing. We were only able to have a short break but are already planning a return visit.

  • "This place is epic!"

I stayed at the cottage in the woods for 3 nights with my husband and 3 children along with our doggo Lexi. Let’s start with the cottage itself is amazing and has everything we could have possibly needed and more. It was very clean and had lovely added touches - fresh flowers in every room, a fabby dog corner with all that your pet could ever need, a lovely welcome pack with shortbread, wine, oatcakes and marshmallows for roasting! Importantly the beds were so comfy! Next the outdoor space - there was so much to explore and do around the cottage from swing ball- which the kids loved- to all the dens, swings, outdoor fire pits… the list goes on! We had a fire and toasted marshmallows every single night even when it was raining! None of us missed having a tv at all!!! And last but not least the owners Lynne and Geoff - I love the ethos around everything you do! You were both so helpful and friendly - it was obvious how much you love and thought had gone into everything. We very much look forward to visiting again and seeing what is next!

Zoe! I’m so flattered! I’d say speechless - but would probably spell it wrong!- We loved having you guys here! I often apologise because Geoff talks so much, but with Ian, I think he met his match! It was great to see the children exploring and playing and venturing to the meadow and I just wish I’d gotten a bigger bag of marshmallows for them! Lexi is stunning and was great for Gypsy, “finally a big dog” that could put puppers in her place! Great! We would love to welcome you back… as you know, Geoffs got a lot of work to do to keep up with my designs , and to be honest I’m not sure how much I’m gonna get out of him now because the chickens turned up, so he’s very pre occupied being the “ proud father” and counting his eggs… Lotsa love x Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at The Cottage in the Woods."

The cottage itself is beautiful, and it has been very thoughtfully and lovingly renovated inside and out. The cottage is very well equipped and had everything that we needed for our stay...and more! (We did not miss our TV in the slightest!) It is decorated very stylishly and felt to me like a warm hug, as it was a very tranquil escape from the busy world. However, it is also situated in a great location as a base for Oban, Glencoe and the surrounding area. The owners were very welcoming and so accommodating. Plus extremely helpful with recommendations and lending us guide books... and even a set of walking poles, which was so kind. The cottage and garden are super dog friendly so our dog was very well provided for too. Thank you so much for our fantastic stay with you and we certainly hope to be back!

Awww, you guys! Thank you so much for your kind words, we really look forward to welcoming you and your doggo back again to see what we’ve been up to! Ps; the chickens arrived today, Geoff is acting like a proud father and we’ve had 3 eggs already! Lotsa love x Property Owner

  • "Absolutely fabulous stay at the Cottage in the Woods."

So many beautiful touches inside and out that made our stay memorable. We loved the decor, the lighting, the log burners, supply of games to enjoy on an evening and the walk in pantry! We felt very comfy and cosy and welcomed in the cottage. (Our welcome pack which included marshmallows to toast was another lovely touch, and got us into fun mode when as we sat around the fire and burnt a few mallows! ). The little dog bed for our pooch was perfect - he preferred it to his own! Snacks for pooch and poo bags were helpful extras and the company of Gypsy and Vodka - Lynne and Geoffs dogs - meant we were relaxed about having brought our dog on holiday. Lynne and Geoff have made their property a haven, with lovely seating areas to enjoy the sunshine and birdsong outside. Our daughter was able to go foraging with Lynne in the Meadow land around the property and she made primrose cordial amongst other things, with what was easily gathered on their walk. We really would have loved to have stayed longer. Lynne and Geoff are such kind and friendly hosts it was easy to feel at home and hard to leave for the city. Hoping we can manage back for a lovely relaxing holiday again next year

It was lovely to meet you and your family Elaine hopefully we will see you all again! Thank you for your kind words x Incidentally, you have left a spectacle case here… should I send it to you? Text me your address Lots of love, Lynne Property Owner

  • "We stayed at the cottage for 4 nights and we were all so sad when we left!"

It fitted two adults, a 14 year old, a 10 year old and a cocker spaniel perfectly. The cottage itself is beautiful, so cosy and comfortable. The gardens and surrounding area are AMAZING! Not to mention how helpful, kind and supportive the owners Geoff and Lynne were. They work so hard to keep the house and the garden so pristine and filled with logs for the fires, whilst offering advice about the local area. I have never visited such a beautiful area in Scotland before. We loved it so much, we are already planning when we can visit again. Thank you.

Thanks for the fantastic review, we loved seeing you and hope we see you again. Property Owner
