  • "A warm, very comfortable, quiet, dog friendly cottage with everything provided for a home from home break away from it all."

In an idyllic setting for walks on the beach, meeting friendly locals in the bistro for drinks with a stunning view. We had the most relaxing break & would love to return.

So glad you enjoyed your stay . The weather could have been better but the scenery around here is spectacularly beautiful. We hope to have you back Property Owner

  • "Great property, lots of space and exceptionally clean."

Location perfect, our dog loved the beach. Welcome pack could have been better, pack of shortbread and small carton of milk. However, this didn’t detract from the peaceful break we had. Would definitely come back again.

Glad you enjoyed the cottage. I was away the week you were staying and usually leave some traybakes for the customer to have. I got someone to do the cottage for me and left them to get something for the tin. I will make sure if you come back there is something nice for you to have. Rhona Craig Property Owner

Would certainly benefit for clothes as not often can hang out but takes all day to dry and very wet climate on West Coast! Also a dishwasher too space in kitchen usually standard for that price and no on suite too. Cottage was clean and comfortable and in good position but for family need to have a dishwasher/dryer and a heated towel rail working also radiator in hall did not work, lamp in lounge and clock not working too. The hall ceiling lampshade we found on carpet. If these were rectified would certainly return

  • "Honesty cottage is a lovely base from which to explore the beautiful south west coast of Scotland."

At first sight, it looked a little sparse but only because there’s so much space and it was actually very comfortable, especially the beds. I loved the walk-in shower and my Border Collie appreciated the neat and tidy enclosed garden. Each morning we had a walk along the sea front which was literally a couple of minutes away. It was all so quiet and peaceful. The only minor setback occurred when the central heating ran out of fuel, but this was rectified by the very welcoming cottage owners, who live just around the corner, so quickly it wasn’t even an inconvenience. We’d happily stay there again.

Thank you for your lovely comments and again so sorry for not having the heating on during that very cold spell. Hope to see you again soon. Regards , Rhona Craig Property Owner

  • "This cottage is fantastic, beautifully decorated, well equipped, and spacious."

We have been going on Sykes holidays for seven years now and this property has been one of the best. We went with our two sons aged 4 and 8 and they enjoyed all of the space as well as the garden which was a lovely, enclosed haven. We sat outside to eat all of our meals as it was that peaceful. The boys also enjoyed playing games in the space as there was enough space to run around. The beach is also just down the road and wasn't busy on the hot days that we went which was great especially during these uneasy times. There was plenty for us to do in the area which was another added bonus especially if you are having to entertain children. Particular highlights were Culzean Castle which was a short walk from the cottage and Heads of Ayr Farm Park a 20-minute drive, both were so large and full of lots for the family to do that it filled up both days. The owners of the cottage were lovely and extremely accommodating (we had no complaints at all as it was so clean and well-stocked) the welcome pack of homemade Brownees and milk was much appreciated. We would highly recommend this cottage for a wee seaside getaway.

  • "Having looked forward to our holiday, we were disappointed to receive a telephone call from the owner of the property confirming the number of dogs we had."

We were already halfway into our journey at this point. The number of dogs had been arranged before a booking made and deposit paid. So, to be suddenly told by the owner she didn’t really want the number of dogs we had as the previous guests had “left such a mess” left us feeling deflated. A number of issues to be addressed. There is no coat stand/hook in the porch to leave damp jackets on a wet day. One armchair had a very dirty headrest. All seating in the main lounge was soft and uncomfortable. There was NO track and trace QR code. Legal requirement? Bathroom clean but could have done with a washable mat as shower tray slippery. No handrails in bathroom/shower area (I have a disability) A ramp leading to rear sun room/conservatory would assist wheel chair users. Wooden floor in rear sun room/conservatory is uneven, loose in places. During the end of the week, the bedroom curtain rail fell off the wall. We would not recommend to family or friends.

About the location

Maybole 7 miles; Girvan 7.5 miles.

This fishing village sits at the south end of Maidenhead Bay on the Ayrshire coast and looks out to sea with views of Arran and Ailsa Craig and the distant Mull of Kintyre. It was here that Robert the Bruce is acknowledged to have come ashore when he sailed from Rathlin Island in Northern Ireland after his encounter with the spider in the early 14th century. The ancient Earls of Carrick had their seat at Turnberry Castle which today is a ruin. Today Maidens is a popular spot for visitors with its traditional harbour, extensive beach, a couple of restaurants and its close proximity to Turnberry and the spectacular Culzean Castle.
