What guests are saying
This was a better-than-expected stay.
The cottage, though not ambitious, was well thought out, and effort had been made to retain its old character. There was also (appreciated) effort in equipping it. The garden might have improved with a bit of a trim and tidy, but it was nice and we spent a lot of the (hottest) week out there. ..it does look out, to an extent, on the business end of a wedding venue, but also on lawns and trees. I don't suppose that many visitors will discover that the upstairs floor can be stupidly hot. Most English weather doesn't sit in the thirty degrees! Trains frequently pass a couple of hundred yards away, but that's only a small negative. Ian, the owner popped by and was keen to see the cottage being used. He found us a fan, and made a point of looking after us. Thank you. On the wildlife front, look out for Black Squirrels (I'd never even heard of them). We heard a cuckoo, and there was a fair amount of birdlife, more of it a couple of miles away at Sandy (HQ of the RSPB)
We loved the accommodation, it was in a beautiful setting, lovely grounds and beautiful walks nearby, especially to the RSPB HQ at Sandy.
We also loved Shuttleworth gardens and planes, which is nearby. The kitchen was very well equipped and the cottage was comfortable. A small matter is that all the pull curtains, apart from one, only worked on one side.
A really charming and pleasant cottage to stay in.
It's completely independent of the main property within its own little paddock surrounded by a picket fence. Fully equipped with everything needed for cooking, cleaning and living. The hosts were accessible and friendly and offered to do anything necessary, checking in and chatting about the estate. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It's within easy reach of Cambridge, Duxford and surrounding areas. There's a little noise from the trains passing by at the end of the path but it didn't disturb us. We would stay here again if in the area.
