  • "First impressions of the accommodation was good then we noticed hairs in the bathroom and stains on the carpet."

We moved the sofas to see the tv better and there was beads under them so clearly they hadn’t been pulled out to hoover under. The sofas were really uncomfortable and too low which let the accommodation down. While we were there we heard that someone had paid £1000 a month to rent the accommodation while we paid £900 for 4 nights which found it baffling why we had paid that much. One morning we had a shower which went off midway through when I rang reception she said they are working on it so it will be off for about half hour but didn’t think to tell us.Also there were workmen on the site erecting decking and cladding a lodge as they were banging through the day so didn’t feel relaxed so clearly we were charged full price for a site which wasn’t finished. As a previous client had stated people were strimming the grass several times which was annoying when you wanted to have a lie in and there was grass all over the decking and into the lodge. I felt that there could of been a cover over the hot tub so you could use it if it was raining. None of the staff seemed interested or asked if we were ok or as we left acknowledged our depart to say ‘it’s nice to see you have a safe journey ‘ I just felt it was just a place to ‘get your head down’ and not somewhere you felt like it was a luxury lodge.Overall I feel it wasn’t value for money for the price we paid when there was still work getting done to the site and workmen walking around which didn’t feel very private when you are in and out of the hot tub. The workmen were also in a lodge a few doors away from us which I found unusual .

Sorry you had a few issues with your stay. We will speak to the cleaning team on the points you raised. We have not let any of our accommodation for £1000 for a month so I’m not sure where that information would have come from. Sorry the water went off briefly. I think it was something that had to be dealt with urgently but I’m sorry you weren’t given warning. We are also sorry you felt the team could have been more helpful. Reception is open every day for any issues anyone might have and we do try to help wherever we can. The decking was being fitted for a recently sold lodge. Sorry if this disturbed you. • "Really good accommodation, more spacious than expected."

Excellent for my son who has a disability and walks with the aid of sticks. There were no interior steps and there was a walk in shower. However steps from the outside would have made it inaccessible for wheelchair users. Everything lovely and clean and all the facilities needed. Staff at the park were helpful and friendly.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We're delighted to hear the lodge suited your needs so well and that you found it spacious, clean, and well-equipped. It's also wonderful to know our team was friendly and helpful during your stay. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We recently stayed for three nights and, while we could see the park has a lot of potential, we left feeling disappointed overall."

The location is excellent for a family getaway – peaceful yet well situated for exploring the surrounding area – and we genuinely hope the park succeeds. Before our stay, we contacted Sykes to ask whether it would be possible to add an additional night to our booking. This was flatly declined. However, when we arrived, the owners advised that it would have been possible to extend our stay after all. This inconsistency was frustrating and suggests there could be better communication between the booking agent and the park. Unfortunately, the lodge itself did not meet our expectations, especially considering it is brand new and our stay cost nearly £600. At that price, we expected a much higher standard of finish, cleanliness and comfort. Our biggest concern was safety. The internal thumb locks make it very easy for young children to unlock the external doors, and the decking gate cannot be secured, making it easy for toddlers to wander off. We also found loose screws in the kitchen drawer, the drawer front repeatedly came away when opened, and the shower screen clashes with the bathroom door handle when opened, which feels like a potential accident waiting to happen. The overall build quality also seemed rushed, with wall panels and door frame edging already coming away, gaps around the front door even when locked, protective film still on the carpet threshold strips, and order number stickers still attached to the backs of doors. These small details gave the impression that the lodge had not been fully finished or properly checked before guests arrived. Cleanliness was another disappointment. We found blood stains on one of the fitted sheet, and some of the cookware had clearly not been cleaned properly, with dried pasta residue still stuck to the pans. Comfort was also lacking. The sofas were extremely firm, the outdoor furniture and cushions felt flimsy and uncomfortable, and the fabric dining chairs seemed an impractical choice for family accommodation as they are likely to stain easily and are harder to keep hygienic. None of these issues completely ruined our holiday, but together they made the lodge feel poor value for money and not quite ready to welcome guests. With better quality control, improved cleanliness, better communication between the booking agent and the owners, and attention to the safety concerns, we believe this park could become a fantastic destination for families.

  • "We were sadly very disrupted on our last day Thursday 2nd July."

...we had decided to stay in and rest and recuperate after a few days of walking , unfortunately a lady gardener woke us up with a strimmer and continued to use the strimmer for about 5 hours , around our lodge , it was very noisy and annoying , she also used a very noisy blower after the strimming , we obviously understand maintenance is needed , but for practically the whole day from around 11am till 3.30 , I had a headache and could here the wirring noise in my had long after she had gone , the day before we were also disturbed with noise from her on a electric lawnmower , this had sadly put us off returning as we were hoping to have a few days of peace and relaxation .
