  • "Very warm, cosy and comfortable cottage with a well equipped kitchen."

Once the sticky/weather warped main gate is properly closed (needs a bit of jiggling and brute force) it's a great secure garden for keeping our elderly dog safe. Lovely, quiet location with direct access to gentle, easy walks along the canal. Watching the canal boats pass by is very entertaining. Would love to return in warmer weather to be able to throw open the patio doors, make full use of the garden and allow the dog to come and go as she pleases.

  • "This was our third stay at the cottage, which says it all."

It has everything you need for a really comfortable stay in a very secluded spot which is very close to Llangollen and lots of other places to visit. The canal is on your doorstep offering lovely easy short and longer walks whichever you want. There is a great log burner in the living room, supplementing the very efficient central heating, which is most welcoming on cold October evenings. The kitchen is well equipped with lovely views from the dining table. Three good size bedrooms and two spacious bathrooms complete the cottage. The garden is a great size for sitting out admiring the view, even in late October it was a nice sun trap. The dogs loved it and being so secluded it provided excellent star gazing opportunities. The owner lives nearby and is very helpful without ever being intrusive. A delicious homemade cake provided a nice welcome on our arrival.

The cottage is very comfortable, clean and has everything you would need. Beds are comfy and bedrooms are spacious. Loads of space throughout the cottage, with a comfortable lounge and well-equipped kitchen. The garden is fully dog-safe with outstanding views. Although secluded, Llangollen is not far away and can be reached by walking along the adjacent canal; or in the opposite direction, a short walk will take you to the Pontcysyllte aqueduct. Celia is a great host, friendly and helpful and never intrusive. Looking forward to returning again next year, Thank you.

  • "Bryn Howell Stables is a lovely rural retreat."

The conversion has been very sympathetically done and many of the features of the old stables have been retained. It feels very homely and lived-in. It is ideally situated near the famous canal, only separated from it by a high hedge. It is a two mile walk along the canal towpath in one direction to Llangollen and a one and three quarter mile walk in the other direction to the famous aquaduct. The location is very quiet and secluded. You need to be aware that you have to travel a little way on a narrow, unpaved track to get to the property but we didn’t find this a problem. The property is ideally situated to take advantage of all the walking and outdoor activities available in the area. I went canoeing across the aqueduct with “Bearded Men Adventures” which I would highly recommend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This is one of the best cottages we have stayed in. Beautiful, comfortable, superbly equipped! The scenery is stunning and the walking was brilliant. We walked to Trevor 3 times and drank/ate at The Telford. On 3 days we went in the direction of Llangollen - retail therapy, all the way to Horseshoe Falls and via the Sun Trevor we climbed up to Dinas Brân. Recommend the Wharf Cafe. Have plans to return and do it all over again

  • "We were delighted with our stay at Byrn Howell Stables."

The cottage was warm, welcoming and very comfortable. The views amazing from all the windows upstairs and down. The garden space which looked out onto the view was great. The bonus for us was that when the owner came the next morning, not only to make sure we could work all the appliances etc., but he also welcomed my grandkids to use the field at the bottom of our garden to run around in. (We could keep our eye on them from inside the cottage.) He also told us that we could walk in their woods, play in their stream, and pick as many apples as we wanted from their orchard. (October 2022) We were a stone's throw from the canal and enjoyed many walks from the accommodation. A short drive away was 'Dinas Bran' (a view we could see from the cottage which the owner told us about) with its spectacular panoramic views. We had a delightful scramble from the roadside up to the ruins of the castle at the top. (About 20 mins, ages ranging from 5 to 66.) The lovely little town of Llangollen is about 3 miles away with its array of little gift shops and also an Aldi for the groceries. Midweek, we also had a fantastic day at Zipworld, Betws-y-Coed, an hour's drive away. (Expensive but well worth the joy it put on all our faces.) Everything that made for an excellent holiday for our mixed age group was found here. I liked the idea of the maintenance book which allowed us to write a small issue that could then be sorted for the next occupants. It's clearly stated by the owners in the paperwork how to get to the cottage, however, we found that a little bit challenging because we didn't remind ourselves of the info provided. (I saw it 6 months prior when I booked but forgot to revisit.) As a suggestion, I think it would be VERY helpful for the owners to remind folks of those details when ringing to find out about the key pick-up, as the satnav does NOT lead directly to the cottage. I just hope my (genuine) praise for Bryn Howell Stables, wouldn't mean I'd have to book two years in advance to get a booking confirmed in the future or that it puts the price through the roof? :-) I'd have no hesitation in returning or recommending it to others. Thank you so much to all concerned, for such a brilliant holiday!!!

Nice king size bed and comfy duvet. Warm once aired, but initially cold. Some of the items had signs of wear and tear. Extensive inventories of equipment, DVDs and books, but more quantity than interesting choice for guests encountering adverse weather. The tourist information was comprehensive, but, particularly as staycationing is likely to remain popular, needs updating as many outlets now are no longer trading. Overall still good, but a one-off update(more time than money)in a few areas would improve things significantly for guests. A great location for canal walks to either Llangollen or Aquaduct. Would like to return in summer.

The kitchen is very well equipped, the lounge delightful and the bedrooms cosy and comfortable. Parking isn't a problem, and garden is enclosed which is ideal if you have a family pet, and the cottage really is dog friendly. We had a couple of meals in the very nearby hotel (Bryn Howel) and enjoyed the walks along the canal to both Llangollen and Trevor Basin for the Pontcysllte Aqueduct. We took our grandchildren, one seven years old and the other nearly five, they absolutely loved it, it was safe for them to run around the garden which was enclosed. The canal was only 20 yards away but was completely safe because it was fenced off but you could still see the barges gliding by. There is a tow path next to the canal that goes on for miles which is lovely to walk along, you can reach Llangollen in approx 40 to 50 mins walk along the tow path around 2 1/2 miles. Finally the cottage is clean and well equipped and the owners who live in their own property behind the cottage are on hand too give advice and guidance on the best things to do.
